THANK U for not wasting my time. I watch videos to learn. Many people like the sound of their own voice, but don’t know what they’re talking about. It’s so frustrating. Glad u test things out n share ur findings. That’s what I need to be a better grower. Thank u

thats a great tip of the sunflower. i was not sure if my sunflower grew better with covering or not, but you just confirmed it. i will not cover it again. i have noticed my beets are growing with less hulls, so that is better for covering. love you short to the point vids.

Great experiment. I tried it too and like yours, it just made my sunflowers dirty.

Hulls have not been a issue for me. I grow on coconut figer. I use 4 pads per tray. With the microgreens seperated into for pads, it's easy to just lift the pad up and run my hand over them to get about all the hulls off. This works for sunflowrs. I've never tried beets. Right now I'm growing amaranth for the first time. It seems to take a lot longer to grow then the other greens I've tried so far.

Great work with the beets.... thank you, I have been covering my beet and chard with vermiciculite with mediocre results. I will definitely use this method on my next batch!!!

Definitely stacking or adding heavy weight on top of Microgreens makes a huge difference.

I'm just about to throw some beet seed into 10x20s, great video. Going to save me a lot of time getting rid of those seed hulls.

Do you have any suggestions on removing buckwheat hulls? My Girls love growing with me until it's time to actually clean them :-/ Thank you!
@MicrogreensFarmer6 жыл бұрын
Just let them grow a little longer and run your hand over top occasionally and nearly all should come off before you harvest

Trueleaf says sunflowers must be grown in soil but I and others are doing fine using other mediums. At 7-8- days you might want to add a little hydroponic fertilizer to the water.

I had the same results when I tried it out. Thanks for the video

Any advice on growing Arugula and other brassicas? My Arugula, in particular, is finicky. It "falls" to soil level, gets leggy and is impossible to harvest. This has also happened with other brassicas but mostly with the Arugula. I think it has to do with being too warm and also the pH of the soil. I'm growing in a mix made from just peat, vermiculite and perlite and I believe that brassicas find it too acidic. Have adjusted pH with baking soda and that helps but they still seem to get leggy and the yields are not they should be. It's pretty frustrating.

Every time I cover any microgreen in soil the sprouts lift the entire soil cover up with them.

do you cover chervil with a little soil?
@MicrogreensFarmer6 жыл бұрын
Never have, but I'm going to try that for the next batch I grow
@kerem75466 жыл бұрын
nice, me too! thanks for inspiring to experiment. how long does it take you to grow chervil to true leaf?

No wonder my beets germination rate was too low. Because I didn't soak the seeds. Thank you.

The beets that were not covered appeared to have some “bald” spots.

Have you tried growing any microgreens with no medium at all? My results so far are very mixed.
@MicrogreensFarmer6 жыл бұрын
no I haven't. That's basically just sprouting, which works a lot better in a jar
