The problem is China and India have border issues which are not resolved and they also support Pakistan. 2nd is China has progressed way ahead of India and became a huge power in Asia which India feel threatened by. India just needs to realize we cant get to China level anytime soon. Need to sort out the border issues with neighbors and allow more Chinese investments. Its in India's best interests. Countries like Bangladesh and African countries have progressed a lot due to Chinese investments. India is too poor a country and we should let China also help us to progress. I'm from India by the way.

As a kid growing up in Kolkata in the 90s, my brother & I used to buy shoes from Chinese shoe stores on Bentink Street in Kolkata as they were much cheaper than the ones in the more renowned Bata shoe store. And the Chinatown was our family favourite to try out authentic Chinese food when we wanted to eat out. We also went to school with Chinese kids, never for a moment though that they were different from us. In fact we used to want them on our class football team since they were so good at it. The current generation must have moved out of Kolkata now but they will forever be a part of Kolkata's history. By the way way Carlos do you know that the Indian Chinese food that they serve in New York city came from Kolkata Chinatown?

Thank you for your video. I'm a Chinese living in Montreal, Canada. One of the Chinese traditions is to send money (joss paper) by burning it to the family members who passed away, especially before the Chinese New Year. We believe the people who passed away are living in another world and they can only receive the money when we burn the money. This is what you saw at 14:32.

Wow! My birth place Kolkata (used to called Calcutta). Chinatown is where I grew up and spend most of my teenage years. My family migrated to Toronto, Canada in the 1970’s. However, I don’t remember much from the video. Due to the political environment in the 70’s the harassment the Chinese community received from both the Indian government and the local, most of us are forced to migrate to USA, England, Australia and mostly in Canada. For example, my mother was Indian by birth, she cannot get Indian citizenship/passport, she was forced to use British subject passport (similar to a refugees passport ) to travel. We now have a vibrant Hakka Chinese community in Toronto and mostly from Kolkata.

Airport, Park St., were pleasant surprises. Had a handheld rickshaw puller for 2 hrs/Rs. 500 and as sorry as i felt it was worth it. Yes, garbage issue needs to be sorted out. Looking for an excuse to visit again. Tks Kolkata

Chinatown Terreti Bazaar you have to go Sunday morning by 5-30 AM to 6 AM. Then you will get all Chinese delicacies and foods. Dont go any other day except sunday. Momos are not Chinese dish, but mostly Tibetian dish. But if you come Sunday on time you will get Chinese dishes. Tangra is a different place than Tiretti Bazaar. Tangra is old place set on swampy land by Chinese as settlement and leather factories. Tangra is near ITC hotel where you stayed. Tangra is having more homes of Chinese people. Or you go to EawChew or other authentic Chinese restaurants.

This place is called Poddar Court, I used to go there almost every morning after clubbing 😄😄 You have to come here early morning because every food out there gets finished by 10 and it gets closed. You must try the Pork Meat balls soup here.

The newer (and perhaps cleaner) China Town is at the area right behind the ITC hotel which featured in your vlogs... The place is called Tangra or Topshia. There happened to be some tanneries around that area once upon a time, which have of course been shifted away elsewhere today. In place of those tanneries, there exists a small residential area for people mostly of Chinese descent. Excellent restaurants you can find there famous for their authentic Chinese cuisines.

You went to the old Chinatown, which is Teritibazar area. The new Chinatown is in Tangra (not too far from Park Circus, or the ITC Hotel). That is where you get the more famous Chinese restaurants.

You must try to visit the Maidan area. The home to the Eden Gardens, one of the iconic Cricket Stadiums in the world ( it's like the Indian Wembly of cricket). Across the road, you'd find the grounds of East Bengal and Mohun Bagan - these clubs comprise of what is the biggest derby in Asia. The rivalry is 100 years old. (ATK is merely 5-6 years old). A lot of history there. A soccer affectianado like you would certainly like it!

I am from Kolkata... And I cannot imagine my city without these Chinese people🥰 These restaurants in China town are our compulsory destinations at least once every year❣️ Kolkata was the land of ultimate diversity...Tragically this 'city of joy' is not the same anymore🥺... The Anglo Indians, the Chinese, the Jews, the Parsis, all these beautiful communities who once were a historic part of our identify are almost dying out😞

There is another China Town in a place called Tangra. It is much bigger than where you went today. It is at the eastern fringes of the city and about 40 minutes drive from where you visited today. There are many restaurants there. The Chinese were good at different crafts including leather tanning.

You are in Territi Bazaar bro.. For China Town experience you have to visit Tangra. The Chinese community used to have tanaries and leather business in Kolkata. Since it created pollution it was discouraged by the govt and so they switched to restaurant business and they gave rise to a new cuisine Indo-chinese.

Also meet Afghani and Jew community in Kolkata. One famous Jew cake shop from Esplanede is Nahoums & Sons. Famous comedian Russel Peters belongs to family of Nahoums Shop Owner. Also you have not yet met any Bengali people properly to understand Bengali culture or food. Try Bengali food once. If you want to see French Influence, then you go to Chandan Nagar. If you want to see Danish influence go to SreeRamPore. All near Kolkata. To understand Bengali culture read about Rabindra Nath Tagore, Satyajit Ray, Subhash Chandra Bose.... and many others. To understand Bengali culture visit Shantiniketan. You already visited Darjeeling and seen Nepali culture. Darjeeling is also part of Bengal. Dont miss the Sunderbans also to understand different landscape of Rural Bengal and river delta and oceans.

You see that often in Chinese culture even here with Malaysian Chinese...burning paper money. The reason is that whatever you burn there is for your anscestors. You see in often in Chinese funerals. Here they even burn models of cars, mobile phones, iMac..Rolls Royce...the list.
