Did you see the video that Dustin Klein released this weekend (kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5PMeaSfqL-SaNE)? My mind was blown when 2 people I watch all the time merged into one brilliant star for a moment. Stay awesome. Always looking forward to new videos - whenever you can provide them. That reminds me - time to buy a hoodie. :)

@@smashyrashy I’ve thought about this a lot. Generosity. The concept of helping those in need of it. In my mind, I’ve determined that as long as the help is being provided…I really don’t give a fuck about the motivations. Bc they are introducing that positivity into the world which can be infectious. There are those who do it for glory. There are those who do it bc they can’t bear to see someone suffer when they have plenty. There are those (the majority) who do it bc they know it’s the right thing to do and maybe there’s a tiny bit of self interest that gets them there. I’ve probably been guilty of all three of these levels. But you know what…I certainly didn’t hurt anyone. I only helped.

You deserve it all, man! I absolutely loved the Rabbi's answer to your question. It was spot-on. One value you bring which you might not have thought about, at least you didn't speak about it, is that you encourage people to see value in things they thought had no value anymore, by inspiring them to see something fixable. Not just fixing it yourself. At a fleamarket someone might buy an item off someone else, knowing that it might be fixable. Otherwise that possibility might not have even existed. You spread sustainability and the idea of circular economy.

Thanks for uploading this Van! I don’t think you’re giving yourself enough credit- you’re a great inspiration in general, but this video is a great reminder to find a second life for something that was original going to the trash. I’m currently waiting for four pairs of shorts to get back from repairs by Patagonia, and am excited to see what sort of patchwork had to be done. Often I think that repaired stuff is better than new because it tells a story of love and care, and it got a second look over by someone who knows what they’re doing. Cheers!

You do not need to feel guilty for helping others... on the contrary, you should feel proud! If repairing is a value to you, if other people is a value to you, its a value to you help others. You will be better off, other people will be better off. Its a win - win relationship... I've learned that by reading Ayn Rand, the Virtue os Selfishness. Unfortunantely, religious morality teaches us wrong, teaches us to be selfless... but man's nature is to be proud of achieving values... that's happiness..

I'm amazed not more people know about Van's channel, he deserves way more viewership and more people need to benefit from his content. In some ways, its so much better than even Casey's, nothing against Casey though, I follow him and he's wonderful but Van is on a whole different level. His work is so original, nothing like I have ever witnessed before in my life and I'm 42 and have been around. He's extremely thoughtful in his presentation and is very careful with what he says and how his message should be perceived, which makes it special and personal. Keep making more content and we will keep absorbing it and keep improving our own lives by simply getting inspired. There is nothing self-serving about giving people to look at things positively. Thank you for reading through.

This made me think of the phrase: Progress, not perfection. I admit I’m guilty of not giving service from time to time because I’m not doing it perfectly without some ego mixed in. I was told to give the service anyway. Better that the service happens happens than not. Grapple with the ego afterward. I hope Van reads some of his comments one day or someone gets to tell him about the good ones.

Hi, Van I used to really like and enjoy watching your videos, but now I'm just not able to perceive them. At all. And it is very sad. I used to like the philosophical topics and could discuss anything that brings up the spirit. I did enjoy making videos and vlogs, but now I just can't.. Now I have just one desire - I want my peaceful life back. In Kyiv. I want my parents and all my friends to be safe. I want to stop the world in order to stop the bullets. I just simply want simple things. Life that you have. I want to worry and think about simple stuff, not the first level of human needs - safety... well, it's not one desire, I guess fduck, it sounds like I'm complaining or begging. Hate this feeling. But I feel that one of the things that I can do to help my people and country I'm Andrew. Do you remember all of those comments and emails about Ukraine? Yes, it was me. I've organised a small group of people to comment numerously under influencers like you posts or videos. Why? Because people with the amount of follower that you have simply can missed those. I'm sorry if we bothered you. Some of the messages were about awareness of war in Ukraine. Now it's not necessary, I guess everybody knows about it. Honestly, we were afraid when it started and just didn't want to be left alone against such a powerful enemy. I just wanted to kindly ask you (without bombarding you with dozens of messages) to help Ukrainians. In your next video, please ask your audience to help inoccent children, or women.idk, anything, any charitable organisation.
