I think the show wanted him to be with the woman that turned out to be his wife but he wanted the other person that was an actor you want to start dating her or just hanging out with her but they were putting roadblocks in a way like dancing away and blowing Trump in his ear anything to get into not get close to that other girl because their storyline had that Merrell woman I think she was just like an extra in the show and she wasn't supposed to ever meet Jim Carrey

Actually, not "when you tell a lie" - when you say something and cross you fingers behind your back it makes what you say not count. ie. what you say becomes a lie.

​@DevinGtv901 , I'm back. Great reaction as always. I've seen this movie so many times and it always gets better. The more you watch, the more you'll catch. There's little Easter eggs everywhere. Have you ever seen Stranger Than Fiction? It's an excellent movie as well.

I hope you realize, thsi movie came out right before the reality TV era of television. I'm old enough to remember those days. The idea that cameras would be everywhere was really disturbing. Bottom line is, this question asked would the line between tv and reality ever be blurred. Great video.

Just to add on to your comment, the full-blown "reality TV era" hadn't started, but there had been some early reality TV shows, most notably MTV's The Real World, that used a much smaller-scale concept like this. It was clear to a lot of people what direction TV was heading in, considering that this and Ed TV came out around the same time, and yeah, a lot of people found it quite disturbing. When Survivor and Big Brother blew up shortly after this, kicking of the full reality TV trend, a lot of people were horrified. Looking back, those game shows were quaint compared to what followed. At least nothing quite this bad has been attempted. Yet.

It is not just you. In fact, in the movie, right before Silvia has her angry call with Christopher the producer, you can hear someone calling from The Hague, and then immediately hanging up the phone. That is an easter egg: the Hague is the city where the international court for crimes against humanity is situated.

This film's one of those special ones, also a social commentary on how people are fickle and quick to move onto the next new thing. If I could recommend one similar to this with Jim Carrey (similar as in thought provoking and crazy) watch Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind.

Many viewers complain that we didn't see Truman's next steps after leaving the show. That we don't know if he actually met Sylvia. Or if he was on trial with the Creator. But that's the point - the moment Truman walks through the exit door, our ability to follow him ends. Truman finally has his freedom without cameras, and we, the audience, never see anything more of his life.

No, we see Sylvia putting on her coat as she runs down the stairs, presumably to find Truman when he walks outside the dome. Since she worked there way back, she knows where it is and she might even be living nearby.

@@johnnehrich9601 - Yes, we've seen Sylvia, just as it's clear that the two will meet (and they don't even have to go to Fiji for that), but the bottom line is that we haven't seen Truman anymore. His last shot is of him entering the door.

WAS he getting paid? I don't think so! He didn't even know the truth about his existence! Why would they pay him? Maybe a pittance for legal reasons -- he's basically a slave owned by a corporation. What happens to him if the ratings drop off -- do they just boot him out the door and start another show? I think he walked through that door with nothing in the world except the clothes on his back (and the good will of millions of fans, and Sylvia, so he'll be all right, but still).

It’s a crazy parallel to real life. If everything in my life was perfect I honestly would hate it. There is an old twilight zone where a guy wakes up in heaven and everything is perfect. He finally confronts an angel and tells him he’s tired of it and heaven is to perfect. The angel replies who said you’re in heaven?…..Creepy
