! Bin begeistert 😄👍 L.G. Hello Akaflieg! I am a mechanical engineer interested in aviation and flying wings always fascinated me. Hopefully, the AK-X will be the holy grail for every "nurflugel" fan worldwide, the final member of tailless sailplanes that will solve the difficult puzzle of performance+handling+versatility of these particular type of aircraft. I would like to congratulate you all for designing and constructing this aircraft. You surely have a great future in whatever career you choose. I am following your videos and I wish that the maiden flight of the full scale AK-X will occur soon with great success!

A few questions: 1. Why are you using JAR 22 instead of its successor CS 22? 2. What kind of permit to fly are you going to obtain? Is it going to be a German national permit to fly or an EASA permit to fly? If it's national, will you be able to fly AK-X outside Germany? 3. Would it be possible to obtain an EASA Type Certificate for AK-X? 4. Are you going to publish any documentation (CAD drawings, test results, building instructions etc.) so that others can build on your work (e.g. other Akafliegs, experimental aircraft builders)? If yes, how are you going to disseminate it?

Good questions! I'm not an expert on all of the details, but here's what I know: 1. The AK-X is certified under german law, so purely by the german aviation authority (LBA). As far as I know part of the reason for having to use JAR-22 is because it has an official german translation (while being pretty similar to the version of CS 22 that was current at the time of project registration). 2. It's going to be a national permit to fly at first. It's possible to request permission to fly in other countries with the local authorities. Later, after completing the certification process, we will receive a certificate similar to an EASA type-certificate (but only for the individual aircraft). 3. If legally possible at all, that would probably require some more work (especially since we aren't a certified design organisation). But as the AK-X will likely never be built in series (at least not without a few major changes) a certificate for the individual aircraft is sufficient. 4. We have nothing planned specifically. We regularly share our findings at the german gliding symposium and within the idaflieg and are in close contact with other Akafliegs in general. We do have a few drawings and information available on request though, so if you have specific questions you can contact us via email.

@akafliegkarlsruhe2 жыл бұрын
