Lucas you are so spot on about Boston not sounding like they started in the 70's. Tom Scholz, lead guitarist and main mastermind behind Boston, was so ahead of his time which is why their 1976 debut sounds like it came out in the 80's. His guitar sounds/effects were so innovative at the time, which isn't surprising since he was attending MIT. From Wikipedia: "He is the founder, main songwriter, primary guitarist, keyboardist and only remaining original member of the rock band Boston. He has appeared on every Boston release. Scholz, a multi-instrumentalist, plays guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums."

Great choice! Boston has 2 guitarists, but the creative force of Boston is guitarist Tom Sholz who writes, composes and records all the instruments except the drums and vocals. Live as a band, Sholz and Goudreau trade off and harmonize together on the guitars. This song is one of my favs and wasn't even a single. This guitar solo is in my top 10 solos ever. I hum it to myself often when taking a walk. BTW, the space ship on the first two albums is actually a guitar if you look close enough.

Definitely do Foreplay/Longtime from the first album next! Great reaction. Don't Look Back, the album this track came from, was released in 1978. However, Boston remained hugely popular throughout the 80s and even into the early 90s, and has a loyal fan base. And it got tons of airplay on rock radio stations in the 70s and 80s. Barry Goudreau was their guitarist, FYI

Thank you, great choice! I was lucky enough to see them live when i was young, my very first concert as a kid, my mom was a fan, the only rock band she ever listened to, she was a frank Sinatra fan! I never went to another concert again till 1983, def Leppard, who by the way, i tried to vote for them versus journey to move on to the next round, tried several times, didn't work, i think the results may have gotten a little off that day, strange that they moved on past them, I'm a journey fan also, seen them twice after steve perry left, they sound pretty good considering, ironic though, that journey is currently opening for def Leppard on a "co-headlining" in name only tour, def Leppard headlines every show, the main draw is def Leppard , its hard to compete against a band that has the original singer, other than that wierd snafu while attempting to vote, can't wait to see more reactions!
