To my knowledge, the way the drums work is that you hit the pad, which triggers a voltage on a piezo electric disc. The voltage is read by the controller board and converted into an input. The reason the toggle didn't always work is because you may have been hitting to high above the voltage point that a second spike caused by the disc flexing back caused another trigger. Edit: well never mind then
@debbieblevins60465 жыл бұрын

You'll probably need an op amp but I'm definitely not the guy to ask about electronics. Evan Kale (a KZbinr) made a fidget spinner controller (I know, sounds bad, hear me out) that used dc motors and op amps to register button presses and motion. Definitely a funny and informative video to look at.

Hey Tetra! Love your videos! You tackle some challenges I never would have thought of! That being said... I'm really curious... how many stars can you get.... with inverted controls? You know, B being A, Z being R, the directions being reversed, that sort of thing. Or even completely randomize your buttons. Forward could be c down, or even Z. It would really start messing with you. Another you could do is try to get every star without killing any enemies (Bowser being an exception). A pacifist run. Your target is Bowser, and Bowser alone. I can imagine things getting pretty hard. Bosses wouldn't be obtainable. But that locks out certain other stars. Might be interesting.

Hey. I’m sure plenty of comments have pointed this out, but in Hazy Maze Cave, if you go left from the start of the stage, through the door, and head right, you can go to the end of the strip of raised ground there, side flip up, and walk kick, and you can actually grab the star that normally requires you to hang from the ceiling without that difficulty. I know you already finished this, but still. That being said, great job! This looks REALLY difficult, and it was definitely entertaining to watch. I look forward to more content from you in the future. (:

TetraBitGaming True, but once you’re up to the part where you would normally hold on, you can drop down. Granted, that’s a lot more work, but this challenge isn’t exactly to make the game easier at all. ;)

The very first time I played Super Mario 64 (at age 7), I actually didn't know how to Wall-Jump, so I was forced to find ways of collecting all 120 stars completely without walljumping. I can attest from my childhood experience that every single star in the game is collectable without the Wall-Jump mechanic. Using the Spindrift enemy on "Cool Cool Mountain" was the only way I could figure out how I collected that star as a child myself. = 13:30 To provide a few other examples, you can collect all the Red-Coins on "Rainbow Ride" either by using the Wing-Cap or the Flying-Carpets... Its more tedious, but doable. As another example, it is possible to reach upper portions/floors of "Big Boo's Haunt" or "Hazy Maze Cave" simply with a well-placed Triple-Jump. Incidentally, there is no star in Super Mario 64 that absolutely requires walljumping, but it certainly can make the game a little easier when you know how to do so.

I don't know if you would consider it against the spirit of the challenge, but I think what I would have done would be to try and set up one of the cymbals as a hotkey to switch controller layouts down a list, so you could swap controls on the fly as needed. If you could also combine a macro with a toggle, you could have set a drum to act as "press and hold A for .35 seconds" to give you a normal jump. This probably could have made swimming easier doing turns. (Even better, if you could hold the foot pad to go forward, and then each drum being a different direction) Having a hotkey control-swap would also let you do Stars like the Hazy Maze Cave one, where you could have gotten to the hang-on-the-ceiling bit, swap the foot-pad to let you hold A, and then drum out directional controls using the four main drums.
