Firstly I’ve been watching your channel since its inception and even started my own so thank you for all of your great content! Secondly your advice made my process to PR a bit more bearable as it was great to see someone going through the same process. Now for the harsh realities…it’s bad right now and I feel for anyone trying to start over in Canada without any friends or family. If you have a decent life I highly advise you just visit and gather as much info as possible. I would not advise someone to spend their life’s savings to start over in Canada unless you’re running from a bad situation. Rent is high and salaries are very low.

The only way somebody can even think closely to come to Canada and reach the PR are three main things that, as said in the video, all are going to follow anyway by the time they reach the eligibility: - Come to Canada with a Master Degree -Come to Canada with experience from back home -Knowledge and certification of French Without these, and we are already at this point, CEC general draws are not an option any more.

Things aren’t looking bright if you’re trying to plan a PR pathway. Canadians have come around to understanding all the loopholes that various folks have been exploiting to gain residency. This coupled with a breakdown in the social contract b/w the government and the electorate has made locals very suspicious of the entire program. To add to that cost of living, no jobs, housing crisis has meant that the government is slowly steering itself from being pro immigration to selective immigration. I expect the number of TRs entering the country in 2025 to be 30-40% of what they were in 2023. We’ll see hundreds of thousands of people who don’t qualify for PR and may become illegal or go home, with a huge acceleration in 2025-2026 onwards. For anyone entering, be extremely careful and do A LOT of research.

I just wanted to say a few things about my experience in here, in case it helps to anyone. I studied Computer Science in a college in Vancouver, 2 years program that would get you the 3 years PGWP. In the end, the school ended up being way less than what I expected, the education is mediocre as well as the teachers and the chances of landing any decent job that would help after graduation on the Industry that I planned to specialize in is almost nearly impossible. The chances of getting a good job are just very slim without having a masters in something (which means chances are even smaller if you did just a college). I've really enjoyed my time here in Vancouver as it is a beautiful city and place to live, but the chances of staying here in a permanent basis are just absurd for people that want to start or follow a similar path as mine. The only thing i have left to say is good luck to anyone who is in a similar situation and hoping all the best for you and your future plans, as times are really tough now.

A lot of students don’t get that being an international student doesn’t guarantee work or permanent residency. I heard of an acquaintance of an acquaintance going to Canada later this year, in the fall. He thinks it’s a guarantee that he will live in Canada so he is getting married and planning his life in Canada long term. However, it’s not a guarantee and he probably will return to his developing world country because of the stricter immigration policies Canada has now.

5:40 “Procrastinating on applying for Canadian citizenship” is itself another big mistake. If you’re in Canada, take all the rights, privileges and responsibilities of a Canadian resident by becoming a Canadian Citizen. Permanent residents are still restricted from fully entering restricted jobs exclusively for Canadian citizens and are still deportable. I don’t see any reason for the delay.

This is a must watch for those who wanna come as intl students here in Canada not those videos from "immigration consultants/lawyers" who would always say that student pathway is a guaranteed way to get PR. That is why we were having protests organized by international students who were demanding to make their PGWP extended. They were promised that within their PGWP period, they will get PR but unfortunately, a lot will have their PGWP expired this year and still havent invited for PR. For those who will get their PGWP soon, she is right that you should carefully plan everything especially the job that you wanna work bc you only have one chance of getting PGWP. You can check jobs that can easily get you invited for provincial nomination and other programs.

Is my bachelor's degree earned in the Philippines enough of a qualification to get admission to any university there, or do I still need to take additional courses to qualify? Hi, don't know if this helps but I'm the same situation and have figured out some important things from an immigrant consultor's channel. The important things is that if the international student don't have a job offer lined up that they can demonstrate in the application to the PGWP, the spouse OWP cannot be extended in the same application (in this case it will expire eventually in the date it says). But, when the student gets a job after graduation, the partner can apply too only that it would on a different moment. To sum up, the OWP extension is contingent on the person with the PGWP getting an actual job (it can be in any NOC for the purpose of extending the partner's permit).

If you are doing something like engineering, tech, health, or something related to those things. It may be worth it and you have chances. I would say that if you do something else, most likely you will waste your money IF your objective is just the PR. IT WON'T be a waste if you just want to increase your employability in your own country. WHY do I say this? because there are serious "rumors" (not rumors actually, there are official government documents) that suggest they will limit the PGWP to only certain programs related to labour market shortage. Also, this is debatable, but i keep hearing comments trashing Canadian education from colleges (main target for international students because they just care about the PR). Under local opinions, colleges are just a transition for a more serious degree, and most colleges are giving a low quality education with some exceptions. This opinion is shared within the industry. So, your investment in education won't be a waste if: - You come to study here a program related to the labour market shortage (most likely tech industry). - You come to study here for a Master Degree or a PHD at a respectable University (most likely these degrees will be exempt with the PGWP limitations). - You come to study here at any program in a respectable education institution (college/University) with the objective to go back home for a better job. Recently there has been lots of changes and more to come. NOthing is secured. Last advice, stay away from cheap MBAs programs.

@@rrdancel Most PR slots in fact continue to be filled by applicants residing abroad, not from Canada's Non Permanent Resident population. A key factor driving the growth in NPR inflows is the government’s repeated announcements of ad-hoc programs aimed at easing the pathway to PR status for lower-skilled migrants who would otherwise struggle to clear the hurdle of the Express Entry skills-based points system. Allocation of PR slots has increasingly become a lottery incentivizing large numbers of migrants to try their luck at obtaining Canadian PR status. But given the limited number of PR admissions, large numbers of justifiably hopeful NPRs will be unable to realize their dreams. As their study and work permits expire, many will be unable or unwilling to return to their home countries. These migrants will become increasingly vulnerable to workplace exploitation, distorting wage outcomes in lower-skilled labour markets, and poverty, which government supports are unable to address because of their ineligibility. Rachael you are a very naive young woman talking online about things that you don't know about. The recent changes to the International Student Program have nothing to do to the housing crisis. The unbalanced growth in Canada’s temporary and permanent migration inflows will inevitably result in a growing undocumented population and forced deportations and also a risk to inflaming Canada's Immigration politics and undermining public confidence in the immigration system. The above are all quotes from a December 2023 Globe & Mail article.
