The main difference between Pettersson and Miller, is when Petey struggles his defensive game does not and doesn’t cost the team, JT on the other hand, gives up the puck and takes the team down with him. Facts

@@the5thlineplaymaker131 Yeah, it's so incredibly corny to think that just because someone shows outward emotions that that somehow makes you a default leader of a group. Showing emotions can absolutely be a negative if it's pouty or whiny or energy stealing or unwarranted emotions. Nicklas Lidström or Joe Sakic, and now Quinn Hughes, were/are all excellent captains while being composed and soft spoken. Björn Borg was an excellent tennis player while not screaming and shouting and banging rackets like John McEnroe, and so was Pete Sampras and Roger Federer. Just because someone screams and shouts and bangs sticks, doesn't make that person "care" more. I can't believe there are grown up people who actually thinks like this.

I remember reading comments from Ranger fans when it was rumoured he was headed to Manhattan and many were not happy. He's had a reputation going back to his first few seasons in the NHL for being a pain to deal with when he and the team aren't succeeding. He throws tantrums. As a Canucks fan, I get why some fans want to keep him. At his best, he's a really effective player. But when things aren't going his way, he's toxic. With some guys, it doesn't matter because the team is successful. But when the success isn't there, he's the type of guy who throws everyone under the bus because they're not like him. It's frustrating because he can be that good. He just comes off like a bully sometimes.

The media calls Miller their emotional leader but he's not. He's the most emotional guy on the team and probably the whole NHL but his outbursts don't inspire the team to reach new heights. When it comes to positive "leadership" emotion it's usually Garland. That Miller talking point is based on repetition but just because every media personality repeats it doesn't make it true.

Considering the Bruins and Canucks seem to love changing rosters with each other lately, send him to Boston for Hampus Lindholm. Bruins need a scoring center badly, Canucks might want Miller gone and could use another excellent defenseman in Lindholm. The money isn't too far off with Miller making 8 cap hit and Lindholm 6.5. Once Lindholm is healthy again obviously. Think it would make a lot of sense for both teams. Miller would push Elias Lindholm down to the 2nd line, Coyle to the 3rd, which are much better fits for them, take pressure off Pasta. Canucks get rid of a talented headache and get much better on defense behind Quinn Hughes. Both sides would be taking a risk, but if Miller's head is right and Lindholm's knee is too, could be mutually beneficial.

JT Miller has bumped elbows with many players. Him and Schenn on the ice in the middle of a game were seen yelling at each other. Miller was spazzing out at Delia because he didn't leave the ice quick enough for the extra attacker, he got into it with Petey in practice I think it was this season or last season. And last game he was visibly frustrated Lankinen didn't leave the ice quick enough for the extra attacker again, after which they didn't enter the zone and immediately got scored on. Miller wears his heart on his sleeve in the worst way. When things are going good, it's great. When they're not going so good, it's ugly. Miller can't be the vet leader on your young-ish team. He can be on a team with other vets, but not a team like Vancouver with a 25 year old captain and a 26 year old Pettersson. This team looked really solid when Miller was gone, including Petey. But when he came back the life is just gone. They play like they're worried they're about to get yelled at or something. Lol. It's passive and safe and it's costing us games. Petey or Miller need to go. Petey cause he sucks with Miller on the ice and we can use that near 12mil for potentially 2 key pieces. Miller can go cause when he's gone Petey is a beast. And we can use that 8mil to get one or two other pieces. Doesn't matter who goes at this point. I am just tired of this situation looming over the team.

as a Canucks fan living in Vancouver its refreshing to hear a perspective outside of our bubble. the views in this clip is spot on.. its insane these 2 guys dont realize that each are the best hope of winning a the Stanley cup. if both of these guys played to each of their potential.. a 100% pettersson and 100% miller, with hughes and demko.. they can beat any team in this league. who else is realistically available that can break games like they potentially can in their own ways? JT missed out on a cup after being traded from Tampa. theres lots of great players in the league that never got their name on a cup. theres not many kicks at the can for him left. my hope is they realize their opportunity right now put aside their differences, Allvin gets their top 4 dman and pettersson and miller have their Top Gun moment hoisting the cup on home ice.

Trade neither of them, this rift should not be happening and it didn’t affect the team negatively last year- it’s not an issue of them not being able to play together, they just need to work it out and get back to the standards of last season where Miller had 100+ pts and Petey was over a point per game.

It is a physical game "Petey," Sedins, Etc. Panthers wore down the Oilers and won the cup in game 7. It's not a Sunday picnic. McDavid sneaked a high-stick to Hughes' cheek in game 2 playoffs and no penalty, no play review; Hughes' cut bleeding down his face as he asked for review. Also, no Canuck punished McDavid for that. That's not right. It's fire, not more passivity we need for the playoffs.

I agree with Steve's thoughts here. If they were crammed together and were forced to work it out, the Canucks would be Stanley cup contenders, straight up. When I watch JT on the ice sometimes, it's like watching OLD hockey and it makes me very excitable. But I have to agree with some of the fans as well, he's toxic as s... sometimes and it messes up the chemistry of the team. To my eyes so far, Hughes has emerged as the true leader of this team and they have played better without Miller so far. If they trade him out though, it will be exciting watching him play with another team. Get it together guys, Canada is desperate for the cup!!! Keep it in your strap Miller!!

It’s no secret that there’s some sort of friction between Petey and Miller. B4 miller left for personal reasons, petey was on like a 30p pace, the moment miller left, petey had 18p in 10 games or something like that and the moment miller came back petey stoped producing. Not even miller has down much since coming back. Management has said they’re not trading miller and petey is being paid 11.6m per season with full no trade clause. Even if petey wanted to be traded, it won’t happen because nobody has that cap space and he’s not even playing up to it. They have got to figure something out or this could get worse and the team’s playoff chances fall apart

Miller is going to be a hard trade. He seems to be the problem, as he has had issues with multiple teammates over time. And he makes 8 million per till around 2030, and isn't that solid defensively when he's struggling and he's not producing offense at that number.

Keep both for now. If mgmt trade Miller then it's further stupidity they will live to regret. Petterson has difficulty skating, pivoting etc that's a liability anytime and come playoffs especially.

I would do a 1 for 1 trade with NYR for JT Miller and Mika Zibanejad both will expire in 2030 and both born 1993 but the Canucks take on 500k more, I want Petty and Zibanejad to play on a line at the 4 nations tournament and if they have good chemistry Jim Rutherford better do it

Wrong! JT is the heart of the team. But they've ripped the heart out before, trading away key players. Pettersson should never have got that 11mil/yr contract. Now they're stuck with him. Where as, Miller is a benefit to any team, so they can deal him away for the defenceman they need. Big mistake. This Miller trade is the last thing they need right now. The only person who benefits is Miller, getting off a team that makes bad decisions.

You don't know what's going on. Everything is speculation. Every team has personalities that will conflict. They are big boys earning big boy money and are professionals. Neither are the face of the franchise. Hughes is. JT showed up when the tough got going last year and EP40 didn't. Why is that? That's the unknown. Who's going to shop up in the playoffs this year?

Petterson not playing well since Miller's return is Petterson's problem! At the end of the day, it is the "team" that wins hockey games and gives you "compete". I must admit that some of Petterson's self-indulging, pouty interviews have rubbed me the wrong way as a longtime Canuck fan-- particularly when you are betting the future of the franchise for the next 8 years on his character. Additionally, I question whether he is the answer for the Canucks as he has not really demonstrated commitment to improving his skating, physique, and balance during his time here as well as the fact that he all but disappeared in the Playoffs last year and, in fact, the latter part of the season since signing his "franchise player" contract. He does not show any real evidence or concern about how much the franchise has invested in him and even suggested in his early contract negotiations last year that Canada, and Vancouver specifically, is too difficult of a hockey market to play in-- NOT what you want to hear from a true competitor! It makes sense to keep the player who is most passionate about winning-- like Vancouver fans-- and shows up when it counts. I do not hold competitiveness over Miller's head as at the end of the day hockey is a competitive sport and Vancouver is a competitive hockey market; however, if his personality is indeed overwhelming to the rest of the team as some inside analysts have suggested, then I would resign myself to moving Miller as long as the Canucks mgmt. make a SMART trade that improves the overall team competitiveness and consistency level.

Man this sounds like we te talking about NBA drama and not an NHL team. I mean stuff happens in the locker room but it usually stays in the locker room and not out in the open.
