I believed the world was magical, and that I could do anything. Because I never met something I couldn't do, at that point. My mom was big on being practical and REALISTIC. So I became an expert at knocking myself down when I dreamed too far. I had a handfasting with my wife, which included a nicking of our wrists to exchange a smidge of blood as we were bound, and to forge a silver cord between us. To this day, we share a lot of things--I'm tired when she's had an exhausting day, feeling ill together, things like that, and to us the cord is very real. I commented off-handedly once to my mom that I needed to nap because my wife needed a power boost (I'm in Toronto, and she's in Iowa), and my mom promptly said, "You know that's not real, don't you???" Whatever. It happens consistently, and WE are the ones who feel it. I'm glad I reclaimed the magic, and I'm glad I don't feel the need to tell others what they're feeling isn't real. Thanks for the prompt. I'm going to work on journaling that. :)

@@LezleyDavidson I was brought up a skeptic, so when things happen to me/around me, it feels... huge. Numinous. I remember the first time I saw energy in ritual, and I stayed afterward to roll around in the delicious feeling on the floor. lol So many things have happened that I just simply cannot deny it anymore. It's not a phase. It's not weird or silly or fanciful. It's a very real part of the world, and I wouldn't have it any other way. For the record, my mom didn't attend our actual handfasting ceremony, so we shrug her off when she makes comments. If you can't be bothered to be part of it, you don't get a say. I love having years of therapy to back me up! :D
