This is an example why a pre and post nuptial agreement should be required by law. It lays out exactly what both sides are entering into. Marriage is now a business decision and should be approached as such. Alimony is from a bygone era that no longer exists. I can understand a limited amount of help so (usually) she can get on her feet, possibly 6 months to a year, but after that she is on her own, especially if she files for divorce.

Never get married without a prenup. If you do get married, do so in countries where prenup is allowed. In many third world countries like India, prenup is illegal.

No problem....if men must continue to pay, fine, the woman should also continue to be his housekeeper. That's fair.

If a woman has been a stay at home mom then yes I think alimony is justified but not a woman who worked outside the home!

In case of men earning, and women building the nest, I have no problem with some alimony both ways (man keeps paying, and women keeps contributing to the nest). It has to be two way.
