Suggestion: a trail bike would be an alternative form of transport for when you don't have a passenger or a lot of shopping. Your ATV would get used less and wouldn't need repair as often. I get the impression that those ATVs are sold for looks rather than utility. A side-by-side might be better.

The garden is doing well. You can bag your ripe tomatoes in freezer bags and freeze them till you want to use them. Your extra pumpkins can be made into pies and muffins. Also, once your potato leaves die back, they are done growing. You can then harvest them. Lots of goodness this year.

Small side x side with tracks. The 520 that Shawn James has would fit the bill nicely. Set of tracks for mud and snow....you'll never look back. Tracks aren't as hard on the trail due to footprint and flotation. 520 still only 50 inches wide so no trail widening needed either.

@@redcanoe9810 great questions. If the trail was fixed up a little once and for all, 4 season tracks are far less damaging due to sheer traction. It would definitely be harder with the existing trail conditions. Very valid points.

4 season tracks are different than winter tracks?
@brentcoull3295
@brentcoull3295 5 ай бұрын
@RaspberryRockOffGridCabin yes sir, they are. 4 season tracks use a bogie wheel system with bearings that can run year round. Some track systems use a plastic slide rail system that needs snow to lubricate it and keep things cool. Camso out of Quebec is my track system of choice. Once the first install and set up is done the system can be swapped for tires in about an hour. There is care and maintenance involved as well so there is a trade off there. I have customers who are trappers, Maple sap producers, hunters, farmers.....

Good morning Russell, really enjoyed seeing more of the property and those temperatures you mentioned are much more to my liking too, maybe even a little cooler as autumn is my favourite time of year, bugs disappear, etc… I know what you mean about car mechanic details, certainly not my area of expertise either. Good to see the garden is doing well, can’t beat a home grown tomato. Thank you for sharing this interesting video with everyone. Best wishes to you and City Girl, have a great weekend.

I’d say get a side by side. Just without the windows. They’ll get dirty and scratched up really quick and it’ll be tough to see out. Maybe add a light bar or trail lights to the side by side and you’d be all set. If you still have that bass pro/cabellas sponsorship maybe you can get one of their brand side by sides.

Russell, you and City Girl are ready to upgrade to something bigger for your garden--stock tanks!! You don't have to fill them all the way with soil, but it will provide more space, deeper soil (so you're corn doesn't tip over😉) and watering is much easier and moisture will hold better. What you might consider... rent a man + bulldozer... like a Caterpillar D7 (the big daddy) and make a dirt road from the parking to the cabin. The Caterpillar will be able to move as much dirt as you need to get rid of dips in the land. It will move anything in the way... rocks, trees, etc. It doesn't have to be a perfect road, just a fire trail sort of thing. You could probably get a guy to do it in a few days work. It would be well worth the money, and make your property much more practical. As you age, that trail you have now is going to make you move out. Once you have an established fire trail, once a year you hire the same guy for a day to do maintenance. Also, the nice thing about bringing in a big machine is you can reconsider that path, maybe come up with a better more direct route. "log trail caterpiller D7"

He drove all the way back to his hunting spot And back 2 Wheel drive withNo problem didn’t get stuck at all and on the way back he had always gear plus one moose in the back. About having too much produce for just you to eat, there are a lot of vegetables that dogs can eat, and even good for them. They can eat tomatoes, but need to be ripe, and no stems or leaves at all. A little bit at first to see if their digestion likes them. Do a search online for other vegetables they can eat. And you can put tomatoes in the fridge to preserve them a bit longer, but they are best tasting if never put into a fridge.

@@RaspberryRockOffGridCabin Foods NOT to give to dogs: XYLITOL!!!! It is toxic to dogs! Also no wild mushrooms. Those can be dangerous. Also don’t give any kind of onion, leek, or garlic to dogs. I don’t think it will kill them, but can wreak havoc on their digestion. Though I didn’t know that years ago, and I think our dogs and cats chose to eat some of those. I don’t recall them getting sick. But the cats weren’t wild about onions or garlic. Some of our dogs were. Foods that may cause digestive troubles. (Though why are some of these found in commercial dog food?): *Broccoli *Peas Cauliflower Cabbage Brussel sprouts. Foods that can be found in commercial dog food: *Broccoli *Peas Sweet potatoes and potatoes Carrots Green beans Beets Corn Kale Spinach Soy beans My dogs seemed to like raw and cooked carrots, cooked peas, cooked corn (my cats loved gnawing on cooked corn on cob). (I googled and it says not to give more than 10% of veggies per meal.) Do remove stems and leaves and chop the large veg to bite size pieces. I sometimes simmered them and added a little butter, or gave them a bit of what I cooked in a soup or stew. Cats are supposed to fear cucumbers, but one of my cats loved them. So much, that when I put slices of cold cukes on my eyelids (the old-fashioned eye refresher), my silly cat would jump up onto the bed, start licking them (scary! especially if I dozed off! sharp teeth, sharp claws!), or would knock them off and cart them away to nibble in private. Apparently she was missing something in her canned and dry cat food? Or maybe because cukes are full of water, and when chilled, especially during hot weather, they smelled tantalizing? Dogs like fruits: bananas, apples, blueberries, mangoes, pineapple, oranges, and watermelon. They also can eat tomatoes. Avoid avocados and grapes. No clue why. They seem harmless to me. For any foods not listed here, but are growing in your garden, you should google to see if they are ok for the dogs. Mainly as a treat.

@@RaspberryRockOffGridCabin you were looking at some new machines in the video well I think you should also look at Argo’s 8x8 and get tracs with it for winter. Every one has their forte. You are gifted with computers, I am not. My talent happens to be in the automotive realm. We all can't know everything right, although I know many who think they do. The right varieties of pumpkins will store very well. Last growing season produced 50 odd pumpkins, average weight 8 kilograms. I still have 6 or 7 left, even after sharing many with the community. I've just planted pumpkin seeds for this spring. So just pick the type that store well. Cheers mate.
