Don't feel bad about plumbing problems. I had never done plumbing before gutting and installing a new kitchen with cabinets, sink/faucet with an RO system, a bathroom sink/faucet and toilet in a motor coach while living with friends in TX. It took weeks with many trips to multiple hardware and plumbing supply stores with bags of leftover parts (nobody was familiar with rv stuff). I still need to re plumb the whole shower after removing a tub/shower combo. I wish I could show you a picture of how awesome it turned out. Keep going Russell, if this 67yr cancer surviving old bag can do it so can you. Enjoy the process and your results will turn out better than you ever expected.

I really wish and recommend you wear a pair of ice claws (ice awls, ice picks etc) around your neck when you go out on the pond. It's nearly impossible to climb out of a hole without them, and you only have about two minutes before your arms stop working. I've even added fishing net floats to mine so they don't sink.

Ironically, if there's one thing I'm glad we euro snobs have locked in, is good old British Standard Pipe for water line fittings ("inch" or imperial threads) throughout Europe, and metric threads for radiator/central heating fittings (clearly labeled as "22mm" etc). G 1/2", G 3/4" (and rarely GR for tapered) for anything fresh water is all you need to know. If it's even close just eyeballing it, it fits. Most DIYers don't do radiators so you almost never run into metric threads, and that's good. Pipes and pipe connectors are metric in their standard sizes (6mm, 8mm, 10mm), threads are imperial. Easy. As a bonus, Sanbra type compression fittings use metric threads to do the compression, so you can't accidentally use them wrong and connect them thread-to-thread onto actual threaded fittings.

6 inches here in S.W.Pennsylvania. Thought it would be a good idea to take the quad out for a short ride in the woods. I was wrong. when I came upon a big tree that fell across my trail, I had to turn around. As I was making the last point in a 2 point turn around, my glove somehow engaged the throttle while I was in reverse, sending me over a steep drop off about 15 feet deep. I tried to bail before the quad flipped but i wasn't quick enough. Luckily a tree stopped the quad from going over a very steep and long hill, but bent the handlebars down to the gas tank. I was spared by the grace of God and only managed to bruise my left kidney region and a small cut above my left eye. I had to cut a bunch of 2 inch saplings and traverse the hill down to a bench that led back to my trail. It's been a week since I did that and still hurts to exert any force to move around, but was able to conceal my pain and wounds from the wife. She would have me in the emergency room and grounded for the rest of winter if she knew. I consider myself very fortunate. Stay safe out there and happy trails to ya.

Holy crap. I know just how that happens. The gear shifter is right underneath the throttle, I accidentally hit the throttle about once every two months by accident, and yeah you either burst forward or backward. I've been lucky so far, but it sounds like your accident could have been a lot worse. And yeah, you should have gone to the hospital 😛

Just to lift your spirits Russell, here are a few of those different thread types.... Metric extra fine, fine, coarse, Imperial Whitworth, British Standard Pipe (BSP), UNF, UNC..... which one is yours? Just go to the plumbing supplier and take the filter and other hoses with you. At least you're keeping your self occupied.

Draw a diagram of your proposed wiring/piping, with every part labelled, and photograph the diagram because you'll surely forget to take it with you. Make a shopping list of parts on your phone. And anyone living off-grid should have a store room full of spare parts for anything that might fail or break or require an adapter, including tools. First build a store room. Then build a workshop. To be blunt, they should have been built before the house. Keep everything in labelled, mouse-proof boxes on shelves with correct spacing for the boxes. Or keep bumbling along, wasting time, fuel, and keeping us amused/frustrated! ;-)

Plastic stuff is usually Garden hose thread. NPT for others...I know its a minefield. You also have tapered threads, and many more. But for most of us mortals, its garden or NPT. UK is the same they just use BSP instead of NPT. Otherwise same issues.....Keep trucking Rus

Hi mate, I have a magnet that dwells on the tailgate of my metal trailer just in case I lose a metallic object, I have had success in the past although not always. Get yourself a couple of spare nuts for the chain saw as this can happen in the bush. Unfortunately the nuts you already have on your person will not suffice. 😮.

I’m a little concerned about your breathing even in mild exertion. If you don’t already have a smart watch I think it would be a great addition to your health awareness safety way out there.
