I love seeing this. I have struggled so much with my spring/summer garden, and ended up losing almost everything. In my own platform I have been taking the opportunity to change some things and also teaching that it is okay to start fresh this late in the season. I love hearing the knowledge I am sharing (that I learned from you and Jess and others) echoed back. Wishing you abundance. Keep on encouraging!!!!❤️❤️❤️

I like your idea about succession sowing, just a few minutes a day. I tend to wait to have more time to do this, and that way I miss many opportunities and find I have left it too late to plant.

Excellent vlog today. I have never planted a fall garden before. I also didn't realize how long of a growing season we have in zone 8b! Estimated 213 days. However, we are in the Puget Sound area of Washington State, so we have a lot of grey days to contend with. But still, 213 is a lot more than I thought we had, so I am excited to see what happens. Planted bush Blue Lake green beans this morning in the space left by disappointing bush peas. Not a failure because I now know that our peas will come from the store frozen and I will plant something that yields better in their place. Tiny, tiny garden space so it matters greatly. Thank you. Oh! Can't wait to try the wiggle test on my Zinnias! Giggling all the way.

My cucumbers are still producing, but I planted another round o cucumber vines last week. I have tomatoes sprouted, ready to tke the place of my determinate tomatoes. My second corp of beans have sprouted and are growing. Earlier this week, I planted New Kuroda carrots, Kyoto Red carrots, danvers, Purple dragon carrots, Uzbek yellow carrots, Navone Gold rutabagas, Purple Top rutabagas, and Purple Top turnips. Later this week, I will be planting more tomatoes. I'm in central Alabama, it is scorching hot, and humid.

When you have some garbanzo beans to harvest can you include a look at what they look like and how to tell they are ready? I had not considered growing them before but wee also like hummus so it might make sense depending on how much room they take and how much time they take to mature. I have a small space so I really try to max my production potential.

I took the Growing Gardeners course from you and Jess last year, and I am confused by your use of the word "zone" in this video. What I understood from your course, "growing zone" only matters for perrenial plants because that term only denotes the lowest average temperature a place reaches in the winter. But, you seemed to be using "zone" interchangeably with "region," as in summer heat maximums and number of growing days. Was that word use just a slip, or am I missing something in my understanding?
@melissagannon5711

People do this all the time. Zones only refer to winter hardiness. Think perennials. Veg gardening only needs first and last frost dates.

Diatomaceous Earth. Its a powder. Also Captain Jacks Deadbug. A preventative is Neem Oil, maybe for next year. If you do above do in the PM. When the pollinators are not out as these will kill them. Just be smart how you apply it. Like dont put on blossums or flowers. Also look into companion planting which helps with pest. This year ive done that ive havent seen any pest. I have a small garden so i can check on everything more than others.

You are not correct. In freezing areas a high tunnel doesn't help when it is temps we are talking about. The plants get a wind and snow free environment that is true bue the cold temps will kill or destroy most crops. Some perenials can survive but carrots, beets, and most brascicas won't survive in a hard frost that lasts many months. I am tslking from personal experience here in Sweden. I even use several other layers of row cover and the plants die.
