Do you have dreams to start a flower farm in 2024? Or have you already started a flower farm and are you dreaming of growing it this year?! I've love to hear what you're up to!

I'm just going commercial this year, but not as a cut flower farmer because I've aged out of that. So, I'm starting a specialty nursery to supply people with flowering plants that the big box stores don't carry.

My market is saturated with large Amish greenhouses…So we decided to go specialty. Rare, Heirloom, natives, medicinal as I cannot compete with them on volume, manpower or money. We have the cut flowers and produce to supplement income past the sales of seedlings. We are trying to do something to set ourselves apart from them by carrying something different.😊

I'm starting small with a roadside stand. This will be my first year and I'm honestly just looking for experience as I know there will be mistakes made. Ill take all I've learned into next year.

I think that is such a great strategy! Wishing you the best of luck this year!

This is a topic that SO needs to be addressed and you are the first person I’ve seen actually do it- I would love to hear more ideas of what problem we solve as flower farmer florists, for some reason I get stuck on that one- like all I can think of is “they want pretty flowers” but that isn’t helping me find my audience - so If you were to do another video specifically on that topic , like a brainstorm of what problem(s) we solve for our customers, I think there are many of us that would be helped by being able to more effectively connect with our customers . Thank you for this video!!!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm thrilled to know this video was helpful! And yes, I have a few more videos in the works to expand on this topic :) I was fearful that this video was already going to be too long so I decided to break it up across multiple videos :)

I just found you on KZbin and can’t thank you enough for your videos. I have wanted to grow for the last two years. I was a city girl turned country girl and just wanted something small for my family and I to enjoy, but after seeing the seeds I planted turn into an experience I could share with my daughter and the people around me, I knew I’d found a new calling. This year I will be putting our dreams into our soil and smiles on peoples faces! Wish me luck! I’ll be continuing to support and follow you from good ole Mississippi 💚

This is incredibly kind of you! Thank you 😊 So glad you’re here, hanging out with us online. Love that you’re following your dream- and how fun that you’re including your daughter as well! Wishing you an abundant and beautiful season ahead! ✨🧡

Thank you for continuing to put out excellent content. I've grown cut flowers for 2 years and sold for 1 year. I've tried some of your strategies and I'm narrowing down what works for me. I'm going to continue to try new things every year in hopes of finding what truly works for my location. The knowledge has been truly valuable for me and what I want to achieve for my farm. 😊

This was just what I needed to hear as my second season is gearing up-- finding my niche in a somewhat saturated market. Thank you for always giving us encouraging content! This is a strong point in your business. Experienced, thoughtful, practical advice! Did you think selling cut flowers would bring you to this place? Thank you for always being an uplifting channel! ❤

Thanks so much for being here and for your kind, encouraging words! I'm so glad this message resonated with you. And no, I never did think this is what selling cut flowers would lead to ;) Just goes to show that opportunity is often where we least expect it💛

The market just looks saturated on KZbin. In all honesty most of us are not within a 50 mile radius of a flower farm
@twosistersflowerfarm11 ай бұрын
For sure!
@petercousineau11 ай бұрын
Wish that was the case for me, I can name at least 7 farms selling flowers and more smaller roadside stands within a 20mile radius

Your videos are great information for someone who has thought about flower farming for a side hustle....meaning...empty nester, something worthwhile to do and enjoyable, and a little extra money. I like your videos over some other youtubers, that are strictly about making flower farming a future sole income. Your videos offer different perspectives for different situations. +

Greetings from the other side of Canada (BC). You have a huge backyard by my standards 😁 I’m 48 too and hope to start selling cut flowers this season to satisfy my flower growing passion and to justify my plants purchasing 😂 Wishing you all the best! Sounds like you are doing what you love already.

We appreciate you! Your content, knowledge and ability to help us understand and help us find or dream for what we aspire to be is awesome. I'm newer to your channel and find myself binge watching 😅 Your flowers are gorgeous especially that last picture you showed. How much acreage do I need to put myself out there and possibly turn a profit? Do you talk about succession planting and rotating for the seasons? If you've discussed, I'll probably stumble onto it. Thank you for sharing your journey
@twosistersflowerfarm10 ай бұрын
Welcome! Glad you're here, hanging out with us online :) You truly don't need much acreage- we grow all our summer cut flowers on a simple quarter acre plot! And yes, I did cover succession planting in a previous video- look for the title "Succession Planting Cut Flowers: Everything You Ought to Know to Extend Your Harvest this Season!"

I’m starting this year. I feel that the market isn’t saturated because not everyone grows the same flowers nor do they sell the same way. So many options available. This video was so amazing and informative. Thank you so much for sharing. **Another reason we’re not saturated is because there’s still flowers being brought into the US from other countries 😢 we need more flower farmers🎉🌼🎉🌼

Wow! Well done. I loved how you gave the example of your frie d with $20 & the viewpoint of who won in the transaction etc. I did need a viewpoint tweak I come from such a frugal mindset that selling a higher end product has not come as easily as I hoped. If I start calculating the true cost with a modest profit I always chicken out & round back down a bit just to be extra sure there is lots of value to my customers. That won't work well in the long run.

Any suggestions for selling just a few bouquets to keep supporting my flower hobby? I don’t want to be a flower farmer. I just want to make enough to recoup my expenses for seeds and gardening supplies.
@twosistersflowerfarm11 ай бұрын
My best advice is to keep talking about your flowers so that ppl know you have them for sale! It’s hard to “promote” our flowers (especially when we’re doing it more for hobby than business)- we often fear that we’re annoying people by talking about our flowers so much.. but the truth is, most people are so caught up in their own lives they don’t realize you even have flowers available! 🧡✨

This will be my second year with a CSA. I only had one request to "hold" a bouquet for a customer who was out of town last year, but would like to develop a policy that makes sense that i can publicly post. What do you suggest for when a customer is away on a pickup day?
@twosistersflowerfarm11 ай бұрын
While I don't allow customers to "hold" bouquets for weeks where they can't pick-up, I do allow them to "transfer" their bouquet to a friend/neighbor- and that's worked well for me :)
