Is it Worth Applying for a Project Position ? I Perspective I Things to Keep in Mind I

Many believe that candidates for project positions are predetermined and the process of interviews is merely a formality. However, I have shared my perspective and tried to look at it from a neutral perspective. Additionally, I have got 2 guests, Prem (IIT-Hyderabad) and Jasmine (IISER Kolkata) who are project fellows and have been appointed based on merit. I hope this video helps you in making better decisions on which projects to apply to.

I have worked in a project earlier , and "predetermined" depends. I myself have seen people giving interviews for the formality , because the supervisor has already decided who he wants to select. Also I have seen cases where supervisor has to depend on the interview since he could not get a suitable candidate through connections. I was selected through interview because the supervisor could not find any candidate via connections.

Well I have to say here that these positions are not predetermined. I got a project position at IIT Dhanbad for an interdisciplinary work. I have no connections over there and I got selected based on my interview performance.. So yeah these positions are pretty legit.

Ofcourse, not all of the positions are predetermined, that was the point of the video. You got a position based on your merit and that's excellent. However, the scenario is not the same everywhere.

Sir i have a doubt. I am currently studying in BSc chem from an Affiliated college of PU , If i get a seat in PU MSc hons will i be able to cope with the syllabi as students doing bsc from the campus are studying different pattern and advance syllabus and techniques as we study in Hons at our college. Or i should go for any other college ? Syllabus in college is easier for me but department of chemistry PU is offering project and techniques which I don’t even know. Please guide me

Yes definitely... There is no boundary in PhD.. learn some basic techniques of computational chemistry. It will help of to convince the prof.
