IS IT WORTH GOING FULL BOLT ON ON YOUR G37?

I have a 2009 Coupe 6MT, and I went FBO + E85 + AdminTuned in the summer. I have my kit/parts selected out for boost to start in on by next summer. FBO + E85 + Tune ran me around the ballpark of $3.5k which included 3” intakes, resonated down pipes, 550cc injectors, 340lph pump, the flex-fuel kit, and the tune. I already had a 2.5” cat-back. I will say, my car felt 100% different after just the first revision when I was getting tuned, and better and better until I got my final revision. It is super responsive when on and off the throttle, like pulling a trigger. All around the power band is just constantly asking for more, vs. before when I was stock it felt really choked out on top end and I was starting to fall behind right before and at redline racing other cars and pretty much get beat significantly or badly. Compared to now, I either keep up or pull on them with ease. I will say, if you have boost in mind, then reconsider going FBO + E85 and just save for that. You’re pretty much going to spend almost as much, or up to twice what you spent for going FBO + E85 which is already expensive within itself, and has far less of a huge result compared to boost. Don’t get me wrong, either or are very much fun and worth it. Unless you can use most of the parts that you get for FBO + E85 toward your boost build, then I’d keep the patience until you’re ready to take the step into boosting your car.

If you’re going to spend that kind of money you might as well Save a bit more and just turbo the car instead of wasting money on FBO in my opinion and many others but at the end of the day it’s your own car and you’re own money

I agree with you 1000%. Honestly this was my first car. So I was really new to the VQ world. So I was just learning about cars. Because I’m very very hands on with this car. So I didn’t realize till maybe 4,000 dollars in. I could’ve saved up for a stillen supercharger. But I agree 1000% 💯💪🏽

Imo just stick with FBO don’t listen to the ppl that say going boost is better option money wise. they obviously don’t have a boosted vq, I did and it’s a money pit. 7k for a kit and that not including labor cost and other mods like internals like rods and pistons and cooling modifications and your tranny is another it keeps going 20k easily Stick with FBO and get a 100 shot of nos if it’s set up the right way it can be just as reliable if not better because your not constantly using it. I’m making 450whp with a wet shot and had the setup for a year with no issues

Yes I know FBO doesn’t just require intakes and exhaust. There is injectors, ported throttle bodies, down pipes, fuel pump for E85. That’s why I say going FBO is very expensive 💯. I’m not full bolt on just yet so that’s why I said is it worth going FULL BOLT ON. I’m almost there tho. My E85 kit is coming soon as well as another performance mod that I don’t wanna give away so stay tuned 😉

don't do E85 on this car. The shifts won't be as crisp and it'll turn it into poop. I went FBO, 3" intakes, and flex fuel E85 from Specialty Z and now my car (auto) shifts like doo doo with shift flare and weird behavior. Maybe just avoid Specialty Z because they aren't that great with the VQ or auto's.

I'm gonna do everything short of cams to mine if I can swing it. Ported upper and lowers manifolds, headers, longtube intakes, injectors, fuel pump, exhaust, throttle bodies, hfcs, then a tune. I am confident in installing all of it myself so yeah.

I have a g37s coupe 13 I have ISR LTH ISR Y PIPE ISR SINGLE EXIT EXHAUST TAKEDA AFE COLD AIR INTAKE car was running fine but you can hear the power. The next day I tried starting it but it sounded like it wanted to turn off the idle goes crazy , do I need a tune to bring it back to life everything is install professional

You're not gonna spend 6k on fbo. Intakes, 600, full exhaust, 2k max, tune, 400 (admin tuning does e tuning for 400) anything else (like ported intake manifolds, throttle bodies, etc) according to the professionals, isn't worth picking up.. so thats 3k without installation but let's be honest if you're buying a g37 do you have the money to pay someone else to do it?

Owning a g37 myself going fbo it's about 5k 2k ark exhaust 700 CAI 5-600 headers 600 hfc 950 tune And tbh the firdt time I tuned my car I was just a blast pipe exhaust and intakes and made about the same power

Check your intake air temps my guy. They will be well over 100 degrees. If you aren’t tuned, you can’t exactly check that, but just because the intakes “feel” cool doesn’t mean they are sucking in the rising heat from the headers that sit directly below them. You make more power on stock air boxes. Get yourself some long tubes and you will feel the difference.

I'm not trying to be much faster tbh, and it works well enough for me. When I get a 370z I'll def be going w admin intakes w tune, but when I started "building" my G my budget was tight.
