Installed this today on my Gibson SG special. Night and day difference in tuning stability and intonation with the Tonepros. It was also pretty much spot on right out the box. It is indeed a little taller that the SG bridge but the Tonepros doesn't tilt like the original so I found I got lower action when swapping and I had to raise the posts (compared to how I had the Gibson bridge posts set)

After watching this video, I decided to go with the same bridge you bought. It's for my 2022 Gibson Les Paul Jr.I also have a question, is your tuning stability improved a lot after installing this particular bridge? Because, that's all I'm after.

So how do you actually adjust string height without detuning the strings and unlocked the stud caps. Then moving the stid and retuning over and over until its right?
@TheToneLoungeАй бұрын
It's the only way tp do it. Just install the high E and low E when adjusting the bridge height. It creates less tension on the bridge and less of a hassle to detune two strings as opposed to 6.

The main reason why I would get it is improving the intonation in case if the stock bridge can’t fine tune it.
@kenoguitar41 Жыл бұрын
I just put this bridge in my SG special with the aim to fix intonation and be more accurate. It does a great job at that, but somehow it lost some resonance and the sound of the bridge pickup became a bit more brittle, not sure if it’s because the space between the bridge pickup and the bridge is more narrow now. Another thing I noticed was that it did change the feel of the guitar as well so I think I’ll go back to the original bridge and maybe look for another solution, was wondering if you had any other bridges in mind before this one? Great video by the way thanks so much for your knowledge and taking time to make videos like this!!
@TheToneLounge Жыл бұрын
Sadly, I have not tried any other bridges. Do you have any idea what caused the tonal change? I don't remember hearing a tonal change with mine.

@@TheToneLounge to be honest I am not sure, the only thing I have changed is the bridge but it just feel different :( I’ll give it a month or so to see if maybe I am just being picky haha thanks for replying!!! :)

What matters is the distance between the pickup and the saddles. As the bridge itself is bigger, any other physical difference is purely cosmetic.
@cornnflaek32714 ай бұрын
I saw somewhere that you need to file your own grooves in the saddle on the tonepros, is this true and if so, is it hard to get right?
@TheToneLounge4 ай бұрын
@cornnflaek3271 that may be true where you are intending to put a bigger size gauge of strings. If you use 9s or 10s then it works just fine. At least, it did for me.

My SG Special has the same bridge (but in chrome) and if I fret too hard on bar chords etc. the notes get pulled sharp - I'm not sure if it's the nut or the bridge or both but this seems like a worthwhile upgrade! Thank you for the informative video 🙏

My pleasure George. Bringing it to a tech would definitely help. Sometimes a proper setup is all the guitar needs. If your bridge tilts forward, then this is a great replacement that does help with tuning and action issues.

@pwrmac760010 ай бұрын
@@danielguimaraes8705 I am sure you have your answer by now, but yes, the locking posts are clamping down onto the bridge to hold it in place. so before any attempts are made to adjust the bridge via the allen screws, you should "unclamp" the bridge from the posts. As far as loosening the strings, everyone will tell you yes. but for minor moves i don't find it necessary.

The P90 in mine was very different than what we associate as a standard P90.The 2015 models had a design called a "slug" pole P90. They were flat pole and for some reason it sounded more like a standard single coil. This design was originally introduced in 1947, and was used on hollowbody guitars. On a solid body guitar, they sounded different. Hence why I had a P90 made to 50/60's specs.

To adjust the bridge nuts i use a quarter so you cannot scratch the nut with soft metal like a quarter ! Removing the bridge nut inserts you use a short brass rod and screw the nut down on the rod which pulls the insert right out of the wood evenly and carefully then insert the inserts that come with your new wrap around bridge.
