Have you stayed at Fort Wilderness? Would you pay $170 a night?
@rventureawaits2 жыл бұрын
Probably! We love the convenience of being able to catch a bus or ferry wherever we wanted to go. At $170 a night it is till less than the Disney hotels.
@kathysollenne72052 жыл бұрын
Yes we would pay - We always stay at wilderness lodge resort. So convenient to catch the ferry and we LOVE the atmosphere. It is pricier than the other resorts but hands down the nicest for us. Our kids (now 26 & 29) have loved it since our first stay when they were 7 & 9. This is our 1st year with our camper so we are excited to stay at fort wilderness. It’s cheaper than the resort.

Best way to Epcot if your drinking is Ferry to Magic Kingdom - Monorail to the TTC - and then Monorail to Epcot! You can also hop over to Hollywood Studios from Epcot by taking the Skyliner. Animal Kingdom is the only one you have to ride a bus or drive to. Busses tend to take forever to come around, that said ymmv.
@BrazenBrits2 жыл бұрын
Hey Cmdr, yup, we agree. The bus was really convenient and we weren’t really in any rush, but you’re right the other transport options as really easy and a bit nicer than the buses. 👍

For $70 a day I'll be happy to drive down and chauffeur you around in Dee's car. $170 a night? Glad we went to Disney when we did. Didn't stay at Fort Wilderness but had a great hotel. And the price was unbelievable. After 911 they ran a special for military and first responders and their families. We stayed at the Contemporary Hotel, the one the monorail goes through, less than half price. The price for admission to all the parks... me, $0.00, free, Dee half price. A lot of places did things like that after 911. Helped get our minds off stuff and have family time before all the deployeds. We would like to go back someday, but for that costs we can do a lot of RVing around the country to see all the wonderful friends we've made.

We love that campground. We were there in November to celebrate my wife's birthday (she turned 62). We have been there before but only in a tent. This was the first time in our 5th wheel. The roads are a little tight. We were right across from the dog park, very nice. Took our dogs to spend a few days in the kennel, Best friends. They didn't charge us the extra fee because the dogs were staying there. Only there for 3 days.

I've been to Disney a lot. I would not drive to the parks. It is way simpler to take the Disney transportation. Especially given the traffic can be bad and the Disney busses have their own lanes in some places. Plus, parking is another issue. Not to mention the fact, we will often start at one park and end up at another. My kids are adults and go regularly. They don't drive between the parks. On of my daughters had a 6 month internship at Disney, and she doesn't drive between the parks. You are an exception.

I drive 3300 miles round trip to stay at the fort and don’t bother going to the parks. The parks are too crowded during spring break. We just enjoy the park, Disney springs and looping with the golf card or using the pools. After 5 days of fort wilderness we head over to Sarasota and spend a few days at the best beach it the US Siesta Key! Be there in a few weeks!!!

The premium meadows (#1 price) is the most expensive based on location, but the site size is the same as premium (#2 price). The preferred sites (100,200,300) are a little smaller (#3 price), the biggest rigs will be tight in there. The Full Hook-up sites are the cheapest (#4 price), 1600-1900 loops. Maybe a tad more narrow and the farthest away from the marina, but still very nice.

@@BrazenBrits I think the next time we will try the full hookup sites and walk or take the internal bus to the marina, save some money. We also drive to the parks except Magic Kingdom. Fort wilderness is great and it just feels so different and that's what makes it fun. It's just sad that prices continue to go up here. During September and August and some of October you can get it at the lowest rate which is about $105 a night now. Just 3 or 4 years ago it used to be around $80. And sometimes during spring months they offer Florida discounts of about 20%. Otherwise you're looking at over $115 most times and all the way up to $220.

Hi John, this was definitely a special treat for us and the cost was hard to swallow. Many people do this with their families every year as their main vacation and save up for months to do it. This won’t be an annual thing for us though for the reasons you mention.
@yankeesusa12 жыл бұрын
That is very true. Disney has priced most people out of visiting. This is their way of having less people go and focusing on only the rich. But if you plan accordingly, you can visit the campsites for the lowest of about $105 a night, if you have you're own camper.
