Shoe is too heavy for my liking and the price is just oooof. Once a trail shoe gets over 300 grams, I think they start to work against you on the trails, especially on longer races. Can't imagine how heavy the size 12 or 13's are. Thanks for the review, great video as always.

@@Run4Adventure For the price there are just better options, the La Sportiva Prodigio Pro being one of them. $55 cheaper in the US and about 50-75 grams lighter! Options are good though, and I do appreciate the ingenuity of Salomon on trying to move the trail shoes forward, especially for those who don't want a plate.

I used to run in Speedcross when it was sloppy muddy season here in the US, but over time, as I aged my footshape couldnt take the super narrow toebox of that model anymore. Really interested to see if this model is wider.

I know everyone has a different foot shape, but of the three people I know that bought bought this shoe (one of those was me), we all had a blister on the heel within just a few miles of running. Not being able to lock the heel down properly due to the lacing system meant heel slip was happening for us all. I wonder if this will become more apparent for you if/when you take them on a longer run...
@Run4Adventure2 күн бұрын
You’re right footshape is a very personal thing but I didn’t feel like I had any heel slip while running and I definitely didn’t have any blisters? Before the run I did have to play around with the quick lace for a while to make sure the slack at the bottom of the laces was pulled all the way through. I’ll be taking them out for a longer run at the weekend so fingers crossed Steve 🤞

Thanks for the nice review. I really like my S/Lab Genesis but my feet get battered on long trail runs (35 K+). And were horrible with the Exospikes clamped on. But they fit my wide feet very nicely and I love the quality. Does the s/lab ultra glide provide better cushioning? Looking for a pair for 100 mile ultra races
@Run4Adventure2 күн бұрын
The Ultra Glide definitely has a fair bit more depth of cushioning to the midsole compared to the S/Lab Genesis. I also think it’s got a bit more width in the toe box 👍

It seems the La Sportiva MorphoDynamic Midsole patent must have "ran"out lol. They had similar wavy midsole over 10 years ago - worth looking it up. I ran in three pairs of the Quantums back in the day and they were fantastic for long days in the mountains.

La Sportiva still use a very similar midsole in there Helios which is a very comfortable shoe. The Salomon sphere design is completely different compared to the La Sportiva midsole 👍🙂

I think the price/value issue is going to come down to durability. I've got almost 70km in mine so far with about 10 of those on roads and so far no sign of any premature wear. I've also got a few less worries in the game because I had vouchers and a discount code and only ended up paying £140! At that price they're a bargain. I love the ride in them, I appreciate the energy foam+ being a bit firmer than the hoka T-X3. Not sure how they'll be in the summer though, I'm geting warm feet even in this cold weather

I was gearing myself up for spending the eye watering £230 on this but have just seen there's a normal Ultra Glide 3 being released too. For what it's worth, I picked up a pair of these. Seem decent so far, haven't gone far in them yet. They run a little big for me, so I want to exchange them for a half size down. Thought it would be ok, but not liking the extra room. I think that also comes from the wider toe box. All my other Asics are size 10, but this one fits bigger for me. I have the Trabuco Max 3 and the Fuji Lite 5. The Trabuco fits in-between those two, but it's also beefier than I expected. Closer to the Max than the Fuji cushion wise. The weight is good. The cushion is firmer than I expected with it having the FF Blast+ in it, but maybe it will bed in more as I get more miles on them, just not as responsive as I had hoped right out of the box. Both the Fuji Lite 5 and Trabuco Max 3 have more bounce than the Trabuco 13 so far, especially out of the box. Upper is pretty breathable, much better than the Max or the Fuji imo. Traction is pretty solid too. Will be a great daily trainer, not sold on it for a long race shoe yet, but probably can handle a hundred. Cheers.
