Zero buyer protection SUCKS. I won a large auction via Yahoo Japan. Seller purposely swapped out all of the top cards with creased/damaged cards of the same kind. I presented Buyee with all the evidence and they still would not budge. Lesson learned.

@@AwesomeLad66 The Buyee "insurance" doesn't cover condition discrepancies in the listing from the seller to buyer. I tried to make the case that what I paid for is not what I got and that didn't fly either.

As a follow up to my own comment, if you're going to buy on Yahoo Auctions with Buyee, the best way to increase your chances of getting what you're paying for is to only buy from highly reputable sellers. This doesn't cover you entirely but it does minimize your chances of getting duped.

If you live in Europe it's actually quite lucrative compared to ebay, as a lot of the ebay offerings come from the US and have high shipping cost. Buying a bunch of holos/promos/banned artworks from Japan, grading the good ones and reselling the rest raw won't make you rich but it's a fun way to fund your collection.

What I have noticed is people are overpaying for cards, sometimes even more expensive than ebay. So it really depends on the card. Always add a risk premium to each card you buy, helps your bottom line.

thats not a restricted market a restricted market is when no more supply of the item being added to the market and you have to buy from other ppl that have the item if you whant to have the item like pokemon cards in america.

I've filmed a BUNCH of openings from purchases I've made from Yahoo & Mercari over the past year and 95% of the time the card arrives well packaged and as pictured. Definitely the go-to for modern cards and promos as soon as they come out. :)

Best deal I got on buyee was probably $200 for 30 ultra shiny gx cards. Included were charizard, umbreon, sylveon. Also was picking up shibuya pikachus for $7. And a team rocket holo set for $19

I fully agree with this, I've been buying from Japan for a little while now and it's by far less convenient than most other, more local alternatives. I'm from the EU so eBay isn't as big here but if i was in the US I'd mostly prefer eBay. Sure Japan has a lot of great deals, untill you remember you have to pay middle man fees, express courier service shipping, domestic shipping inside Japan, import taxes, customs duties, and all the sudden it's not that great of a deal anymore and not really worth the hassle to wait for it to arrive etc. It has its merrits, as I've imported and sold japanese stuff for a year or so now, but it's definitely not a "gold mine" or as Rudy would say "free tendies".

From my experience, buying singles from Japanese sites will save you a ton of money versus buying them off eBay & buying sealed product can be a toss up. Many Japanese sellers on ebay have their own sites with reduced prices to begin with (crazy, I know).
