Well, in my opinion its like this : Some Japanese feminists claims women are treated unfairly in terms of lower salary for the same job as her male counterpart, and that IS true. However, its also true, Japanese women enjoy so many benefits, such as the "special prices", special womens day for this or that, libraries, massage parlors, train cars and other thing for "women only" - hell even so many places have toilets for "women only" that i started to use womens toilets in emergencies.

Hello! I just started watching your videos and they're informative. Thanks for sharing! There are many women's services in America, but some of the concepts in Japan seem more detailed, like for example I haven't seen Women's Stay type ideas or the cargo idea here. Those seem like they'd be appreciated here. A women's section on menus seems interesting, too, I guess for women whom really do eat small portions. As far as jobs: equal pay for equal work is finally getting more attention here.

Hello Komori-san! I just wanted to ask how common it is for women to work after marriage? I heard it's still very uncommon, and that women aren't supposed to be too ambitious, or too straight-forward when they speak to men, because it's not considered feminine. I've also heard that it's very difficult for women to become leaders in companies and such. Is this correct? Because I've always been interested in Japan, but I don't want to be a housewife *concerned*

She gave ONE example of an discount and yes, discounts help. The huge cinema in my city had a discount day for students and the whole thing was absolutely packed everytime. The other examples she gave were services catering to women. You don't seem to realise that most services focused on men before because they had the money. Now those services are still there and ADDITIONALLY they have services that cater to women. Sounds like a good business idea.

In England at least, you can buy pens or razors made for women, although they tend to be many times more expensive than the standard products. The only difference it usually the colour. I've heard a few women prefer male razors too because they shave closer.
@PrincesseKes12 жыл бұрын
Yes we have both in France too. Also for spas and all the "relaxation parlours". Also special girls only night in clubs and trips. But it's not so much about being ashamed in front of men" part more then the "girls should cling together and have complicity".
@komori84112 жыл бұрын
Thanks! For your very nice question. The woman tend to quit job, if she have baby, because there are not so much social infrastructure to continue both work and raising children. However, gradually the government try to improve the situation. Second question is also interesting, Japanese woman very recently tend to be "straight-forward" because we start to get status, however, as you point it out, we can hardly be leader and its so big issue in Japan. Thanks so much for deep interest in Japan!

This trend is happening in the West too: women are marrying later, they have career and MONEY. In my country(New Zealand) girls do better at school and about 60% of people at university now are women. So in the future maybe women will be in charge, we have already had two female Prime Ministers. However in business, there are still very few women who are CEOs, or on company boards. Some countries like Norway have introduced a quota-----in Norway company boards must comprise at least 40% women. I think Japan is quite unique in the number of different services for women, as you have mentioned, maybe I should start a business catering to women, I will get rich. Thank you for your videos Komori-san, you are teaching us things we can't learn from a book.

An interresting video Komiro san. Does this has something to do with Amaterasu-ōmikami and that women get these opportunities and showing respect for the women.? Here in Sweden we have something that is called All womens week. It´s for an entire week all female name days in the calendar. Thats the only thing I can remember. Oh, we also have women goes in free on clubs to dance etc while men/guys has to pay ^_^ . A interresting and great video again from you. Have a wonderful October dress warm

Komori-san I would like to ask you is Japan safe to live in? What i meant is that i wouldn't have to worry a stray bullet coming straight to my head every time I walk around the streets in Tokyo. The reason i ask this is because I want to further my study in Japan and I am worried for my safety in order for me to live there and do i have to worry about getting mugged while going to the groceries stores. No offense but these things do happen in Bangkok, Thailand.

A french girl who lives in Japan wrote an article i'm reading right now. It talks about many things, but it notices something quite rare in France, sexual harassment, this is something condemned by law and is quite well applied here. Perhaps this is one of the explanations we don't need to separate women from men (i don't talk about other problems here as this is not the subject, if you need the url and a translation of the article, don't hesitate to ask, i'll ganbarimasu ^_^ )
Yeah,got your website. And I would like to know more about japan,in the next video. Arigatho.

I love the idea of momen's only menu. I often can't finish my dinner at a restaurant because the servings are too big so it would be only fair to at least have the opportunity to pay less and get less food. I hate having to leave some on the plate, knowing that it will be thrown away. Sometimes I order a children's menu but some restaurants don't serve that to adults. :( In Germany we have women's only parking decks for safety reasons. This is the only thing that came to my mind.

Here in Brazil the government tried to put wagon trains for women, but the most part of the women don't like of it. Because we want equality and respect in the public transport in Brazil, and this include use the same wagon... I LOVE YOUT CHANNEL!!! PS: Sorry my poor english!!
@Yeoriollayo9 жыл бұрын
+Rafaella Campanelli I think it's a great idea and liked it in Japan (didn't use it that much, though). I guess if equality and respect aren't there, it's almost impossible to achieve both within the population's mind. If you try to force equality (one wagon), you won't get enough respect. If you try to force respect (women's wagon), you won't have equality. At least I'm assuming these points from your cultural background and problem. Unfortunately, it's very hard to change minds of a whole population in a reasonable time
@tabletalk339 жыл бұрын
+Rafaella Campanelli More likely, the women wanted to retain the right to attract the attention of MEN, up close, and personal.
@ciumpalaku9 жыл бұрын

Konbanwa Komori san, I think that's what I love the most about Japan. The Japanese economy pretty much takes care of everything there. They're so cautious about their country, their people. And I've read many times that a woman is behind every man's success, and in Japan she has more of a priority than a man. And I believe or that I've seen particularly that a woman can change a man completely and his behaviour as well.

Very interesting look at the Japanese culture from the inside. In the USA we are going through a similar trend of Female Awareness, but its more politically motivated than technologically. I think its smart how companies now sympathize with Japanese women, especially single Japanese women, and feel comfortable investing into their demographic. In the US there has always been the female specific industries such as skin care, cosmetics and hygienic products, but most products here are unisexual.

My brothers friend from work almost went in the woman only on the train, my brother does not speak any Japanese. But he told his friend cant you read English it say's women only. His friend wasn't looking down but just going to the less crowded train car and said a couple of girls knew that his friend almost made that mistake and smiled and giggled. His friend said oh man I wasn't paying attention.

japann is one of the most safe countries in the world actually... and no people arent likely to chase you with a gun (lol) infact its extremely hard to even get your hands on one... you could leave your bag in the street for 12 hours and noone would steal it you could drop your phone and someone will pick it up for you and chase you with it to give it back... stores rarely have theft sensors due to the low crime rates... the list goes on.

cont. 2: Oh and actually there is a trend of offering a regular and a smaller, cheaper serving of the menu in Germany. It's for everyone even though it is mainly used by women and that is all I am asking for. I don't want to pay for servings that are so big I can only finish half of it because the portions are supposed to make a hungy, average guy or an unusually big women happy. So yeah, I get what I want for less, if you like it or not. I don't want a women's menu, I want a not-dude-sized one.

The US has the Equal Opportunity Employment Act so men and women get paid the same and have the same opportunities. In bars in the US we have ladies night where ladies drinks are 60% off. Or ladies drink free nights. Certain cosmetic and clothing stores will have Ladies Fashion's Night Out where the prices are discounted significantly for ladies. Shiseido does these ladies promotions. Shiseido has become very popular in the US.
