I was a strong Christian once.... I converted 15 years ago and now I'm an orthodox Jewess living in Israel. I understand both sides of this debate so well, and I'm absolutely blown away by R Singer. His knowledge is phenomenal, and his tact and kindness are such a kiddush Hashem. If I'd heard him speak earlier in my life I'd have converted much sooner! What a light to the nations is this wonderful man.

Rabbi Singer is one of the smartest people I've heard talk. He's just brilliant. The Jewish religion is beautiful and makes a lot of sense. That's why it's so wrong what you're doing with it in Isreal. God doesn't want you to kill people. For any reason. I hope that you (your country) find your way.

@jypsyjewels2854 With all respect, do you think it's okay for terrorists to do what they did to us? Did you know that they have sworn to continue doing this until they've wiped Israel off the map? Do you know that they rejoiced on 7 October? And do you think we should just smile and wave? We've had thousands of years of pogroms and holocausts; for the first time in 2000 years we have our own land, our own army and we can defend ourselves. What do you think Yehoshua did here? And King David? There is great danger when Jews are kind to the cruel. Look at what happened when King Shlomo was kind to Amalek.

You can't pretend you "need Jesus" when G-d himself says you don't in Deut. 30:14, and also Ezekiel 18:21 "But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die. None of the offenses they have committed will be remembered against them. Because of the righteous things they have done, they will live." and let's not forget Isaiah 1:17-18 "stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. “....Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool."

@@curtisscissons563, indeed Ezekiel 18 verse 21 defeats the Christian argument that nobody is able to keep God's laws perfectly. Otherwise this verse makes no sense. Since one would posit the following... Why would God tell people that doing something would bring them life if they inherently can't do it to begin with? The statement would be worthless and thus serve no purpose. It would be akin to my telling a cripple to climb the stairs if he wants to eat the food located there.

@Robert Sparkman what a crock of spewed garbage you have written.a. The Messiah According To Judaism One of the basic premises upon which Christianity rests is that Jesus was the Messiah predicted in the Jewish Bible. Judaism has always rejected this belief. Since the goal of “Hebrew Christian” missionaries is to convince Jews that Jesus did in fact fulfill the requirements of the promised Messiah, it is necessary to examine the Jewish understanding of the Messiah to understand why such claims are simply not true. b. The Hebrew Roots Of The Word “Messiah” The Hebrew word for “Messiah” is “Moshiach - .” The literal and proper translation of this word is “anointed,” which refers to a ritual of anointing and consecrating someone or something with oil (I Samuel 10:1-2). It is used throughout the Jewish Bible in reference to a wide variety of individuals and/or objects; for example, a Jewish king (I Kings 1:39), Jewish priests (Leviticus 4:3), prophets (Isaiah 61:1), the Jewish Temple and its utensils (Exodus 40:9-11), unleavened bread (Numbers 6:15), and a non-Jewish king (Cyrus king of Persia, Isaiah 45:1). * * Some form of the Hebrew word moshiach is used over 150 times in the Jewish bible. Christians consistently translate this word as anointed, except in the ninth chapter of Daniel. In this chapter missionaries deviate from this and other correct translations in an attempt to prove that the messiah came before the destruction of the Second Temple. Rather than speaking about “the messiah,” when read in context and with a correct translation this chapter clearly speaks about two different “anointed” subjects hundreds of years apart. a) The first is the anointed King Cyrus (Isaiah 45:1) who granted permission to the Jews to return and build the Second Temple 52 years “7 weeks of years” after the destruction of the First Temple. b) The second is the anointed priesthood (Leviticus 4:3) that was terminated 434 years “62 weeks of years” later. c. The Criteria To Be Fulfilled By The Jewish Messiah In accurate translations of Jewish Scriptures, the word “Moshiach” is never translated as “Messiah,” but as “anointed.” Nevertheless, Judaism has always maintained a fundamental belief in a Messianic figure. Since the concept of a Messiah is one that was given by God to the Jews, Jewish tradition is best qualified to describe and recognize the expected Messiah. This tradition has its foundation in numerous biblical references, many of which are cited below. Judaism understands the Messiah to be a human being (with no connotation of deity or divinity) who will bring about certain changes in the world and who must fulfill certain specific criteria before being acknowledged as the Messiah. These specific criteria are as follows: 1) He must be Jewish. (Deuteronomy. 17:15, Numbers 24:17) 2) He must be a member of the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10) and a direct male descendant of King David (I Chronicles 17:11, Psalms 89:29-38, Jeremiah 33:17, II Samuel 7:12-16) and King Solomon. (I Chronicles 22:10, II Chronicles 7:18) 3) He must gather the Jewish people from exile and return them to Israel. (Isaiah 27:12-13, Isaiah 11:12) 4) He must rebuild the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. (Micah 4:1) 5) He must bring world peace. (Isaiah 2:4, Isaiah 11:6, Micah 4:3) 6) He must influence the entire world to acknowledge and serve one G-d. (Isaiah 11:9, Isaiah 40:5, Zephaniah 3:9) All of these criteria for the Messiah are best stated in chapter 37:24-28 of the book of Ezekiel: “and My servant David will be a king over them, and they will all have one shepherd, and they will walk in My ordinances, and keep My statutes, and observe them, and they shall live on the land that I gave to Jacob My servant...and I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant and I will set my sanctuary in their midst forever and My dwelling place shall be with them, and I will be their G-d and they will be My people. And the nations will know that I am the Lord who sanctifies Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forever.” (Ezekiel 37:24-28) Emphasis: If an individual fails to fulfill even one of these conditions, then he cannot be the Messiah! d. Why Jesus Could Not Have Been The Jewish Messiah A careful analysis of these criteria shows us that, although Jesus was Jewish, he did not fulfill any of the other criteria. An examination of the contradictory accounts of Jesus’ genealogy demonstrates a number of difficulties with the fulfillment of the second criterion. Specifically, the New Testament claims that Jesus did not have a physical father. The Jewish Scriptures, however, clearly states that a person’s genealogy and tribal membership is transmitted exclusively through one’s physical father (Numbers 1:18, Jeremiah 33:17). Therefore, Jesus cannot possibly be a descendant of the tribe of Judah nor of King David and King Solomon. There are even further problems with any attempts to use the Jewish Scriptures to prove Jesus’ genealogy through Joseph, the husband of Mary (Jesus’ mother). For the New Testament claims that Joseph was a descendant of King Jeconiah, who in the Hebrew Bible was cursed to never have a descendant “sitting on the throne of David and ruling any more in Judah” (Jeremiah 22:30). Joseph’s genealogy, even if it were transmittable to Jesus, would only serve to further disqualify Jesus as the Messiah. Finally, there is the problem of the contradictory accounts of Jesus’ genealogy in Matthew, Chapter 1 and Luke, Chapter 3. The common Christian explanation of this contradiction claims that Luke’s genealogy is that of Jesus’ mother, Mary. However, this is unfounded, even according to the Greek original. In addition, it has already been established that genealogy is transferred solely through the father, making this attempted explanation completely irrelevant. Even if one could trace one’s genealogy through one’s mother, there would be the additional problem in that Luke 3:31 lists Mary as a descendant of David through Nathan, Solomon’s brother, and not through Solomon himself as is prophesied in I Chronicles 22:10 of the Jewish Bible. The third, fourth, fifth and sixth criteria have obviously not been fulfilled, either during Jesus’ time or since. Any Christian claims that these final criteria will be fulfilled in a “Second Coming” are irrelevant because the concept of the Messiah coming twice has no scriptural basis. To summarize, we cannot know that someone is the Messiah until he fulfills all of the above criteria. The Christian understanding of the Messiah and Jesus differs greatly from the Jewish biblical view. These differences developed as a result of the Church’s influence during the time of the Emperor Constantine* and the Council of Nicaea that issued the Nicene Creed in 325 CE. Emphasis: The Messiah was never meant to be an object of worship. His primary mission and accomplishment is to bring world peace and to fill the world with the knowledge and awareness of one G-d. @@AlaryWoods greetings. You asked the most important question in this forum... "what is Truth?" While The Messiah was being question by the Roman Prefect as to why the Jews found him guilty against their laws and traditions... Jesus said to him: "Everyone that is of the truth heareth my voice." Pilate saith unto him, what is truth? And when he had said this he went out unto the Jews and said to them: i found in him no fault at all. Pilate did not wait for Jesus answer. Scripture reveals, what was conceal in the Torah and Tanakh is revealed in the Gosple. The Gosple of Jesus Christ aka Yeshua HaMashciah. "The Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world." Truth is more than being true or truthful. Truth is a person. The Laws was given to Moses. However, Grace&Truth came. In Hebrews it means Hesed. God's Grace: Undeserved Kindness, Unmerited Favor, Rich in Mercy. Jesus is Truth. He said also: i am the Way the Truth and the Life. If you have the Truth you have everlasting life. Daniel T. I just find it entertaining watching Christians get crushed with biblical knowledge from Jews. Christians always want to go to the Bible for everything, until the Jew says...you obviously don’t read Hebrew, because that’s not what that scripture says haha!! I’m definitely on the side of Judaism here...if you want to have an accurate description of what the holy book says, you need to read it in its most original form...Hebrew. Yet Christians want to simply rely on accuracy from the translators...

He's mentioned that numbers are a pattern. He's mentioned various people who are jealous. He's skipping around the Bible, bringing up snippets of different stories, but there is nothing cohesive in what he's saying. I can tell that the good reverend is sincere. @Iyas kelu I don't exactly know what you are trying to say here, as I don't completely understand your comment. However, despite your fact that some people convert out of fear, I still support that Deut 10:12 isn't talking about being scared. When I was a Seventh-Day-Adventist, some of our pastors used to say "There is no fear in love." (they mean fear in the scary way. After all, if your scared of the person you love, it suggests you don't 100% trust them). When I read 10:12, I see the Bible talking about loving God with all your heart and being in awe about his ways, not being scared about him. Also I am not entirely sure what you mean in your last paragraph, but because I don't think Tovia believes Jesus was the Son of God, he probably doesn't associate fear with him.

@Mike Cribbage The exact opposite. The majority of Christians probably don't know a thing about the Tanach at all, they never read it or at least they didn't read most of it, and even those who read it, read it in English or some other foreign translation, with a lot of Christian intentional and deceitful mistranslations. I have met so many Christians who don't understand why Jews circumcise. When I told them it was commanded by God they said: "No it wasn't". They really had no clue it was commanded to us by God, they didn't know about the verses where it's written, because they never read the Tanach. "Kiss the Son" "They pierced my hands and my feet" Translating the word עלמה Alma as a virgin These are all corruptions and intentional lies created by Christians. And believe me it's only the tip of the iceberg. So actually whoever reads the original Tanach in Hebrew effortlessly destroys all the Christian lies and the biggest fraud in history which is Christianity itself.

@@jacksionilopa3106 “THE NAME WHICH IS ABOVE EVERY NAME” ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE Question: “What is the name which is above every name?” Answer: Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses, “HaYAH Ashar HaYAH [“I AM WHO I AM.”] And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM {YAH} has sent me to you.’” Moreover, God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations” (Exodus 3:13-15). Halleluyah, Praise YAH! The LORD revealed His essential name “YAH,” and this name appears 48 times in the Bible. Question: “Doesn’t the LORD have many names?” Answer: And God spoke to Moses and said to him: “I the Lord. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as EL SHADDAI [God Almighty], but by My name Lord {YAH} I was not known to them (Exodus 6:2-3). The LORD only has one essential name YAH, and many descriptive names. Question: What does this mean to me? Answer: The prophet Isaiah makes this very clear: “Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation’” (Isaiah 12:2 NKJV, as compared to the Hebrew). “YAH” means “I AM” with “Shua” meaning salvation, and thus YAHSHUA is the exclusive name of our salvation. Question: What name did Christ actually receive at His birth? Before we answer, it is important that we know one crucial fact, that the name Jesus has only existed since the 17th century. So the real question is, “What name did the angel reveal to Joseph?” Obviously the name of salvation according to the Prophet is “YAH,” and “shua” means salvation. Answer: In Matthew 1:21, “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name YAHSHUA, for He will save His people from their sins.” “You shall call” is a command from God through the angel. The name YAHSHUA is revealed and commanded to be given to our Savior. Most do not know of the transformations, or the linguistic evolution, of the only name by which we must be saved: Jesus changed from Iesus due to the late addition of the letter “J” into the English alphabet in the 17th century. Jesus comes from Iesus, and Iesus is found in the 1611 KJV English version of the Bible. Iesus (Latin) comes from the Greek name Iesous, which is a transliteration of the Aramaic name Yeshua, Yeshua was a common name in the 1st century, and most people who lived in the land of Israel would have heard YAHSHUA as Yeshua. Question: Why is this one name YAHSHUA so important to our salvation? The Apostle Peter made this very clear and emphatic: “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Question: How do we know that YAH was revealed to us? Answer: The Savior Himself told us when He said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM” (John 8:58). “I AM” is YAH, as in Halleluyah, Praise YAH! The Apostle Paul, who was called Saul, on the Road to Damascus heard the name which is above every name, He testified of this to King Agrippa, “While thus occupied, as I journeyed to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, at midday, O King, along the road I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those who journeyed with me. And when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ So I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am YAHSHUA, whom you are persecuting’” (Acts 26:12-15). Question: Did the apostle Paul hear the name which is above every name? Answer: The apostle Paul wrote, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him {YAH} the name which is above every name, that at the name of YAHSHUA every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that YAHSHUA the Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11). Every language is to know and confess this one name: YAHSHUA. Question: “What does it mean if we reject the one name given under heaven by which we must be saved?” Answer: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18). To reject the Savior’s revealed name is to stand condemned. Halleluyah, Praise YAH, Praise YAHSHUA! And be saved! This יָה is “YAH” {I AM} in Hebrew. “But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord YAHSHUA, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3:14-17). Shalom in His name, YAHSHUA!

What he didn't tell us about was the fact that God spared the Israelites from death while still in Egypt because of the blood of the Lamb. But that doesn't mean that they are to remain in Egypt. They were spared from death in order to LEAVE EGYPT. In the same way, we are spared from death in this adulterous world, permitted by the blood of Jesus Christ in order to leave. In Daniels prophecy concerning the seventy sevens, the Mystery is, Jesus Christ puts an end to sin by abolishing the daily sacrifice, he sets up the abomination of desolation spoken by prophet Daniel, the replacement theologies and replacement structures apart from the Law of circumcision. Right now Jesus remains in heaven until ALL his enemies are made a footstool for his feet. Then his feet shall stand on Mount Olives. The last part of the seventy sevens is then that which is decreed (the seventy sevens) is poured out (the anointing) on the one (THE PIG) who makes it desolate. This is the unification of FAITH in the revelation of Jesus Christ according to the most important commandment, THE ROCK OF AGES knowing that the 4 cherubs that departs God's spirit from the Temple in Jerusalem to mount Olives continued their journey towards the ends of the earth in mystery namely Jesus Christ through the 4 books of the Gospel representing the 4 faces of the most important commandment. That is to love God with all our 1.HEART 2.SOUL3.MIND 4.STRENGTH. In this revelation all replacement theologies and replacement structures (Mystery Babylon, the great, the mother of harlots and the abominations of the earth) shall be done away with. The seal that seals the identity of the Messiah is the seal of Mount Olives. The ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION spoken by prophet Daniel. Jesus is returning in the form of the KOSHER pig. The ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION spoken by prophet Daniel is the replacement theologies and structures under the blood of Jesus Christ, permitted by God for the transformation of God's holy creation, the unkosher world becoming kosher shinning God's face on his desolate sanctuary. The Christian world is a PIG in Jewish eyes. It w the pig that was sacrificed on the Jewish Alter making it desolate. Daniel prayed for God's face to shine on His desolate sanctuary. That's why the seventy sevens was given. Jesus Christ fulfills putting an end to sin, sets up the abomination of desolation (replacement theologies and structures). Permitted by God through his blood. Remains in heaven waiting for the unkosher world becoming kosher shinning God's face on his desolate sanctuary. Go Now to U Tube and see Israeli Rabbi who lecture on the return of the KOSHER PIG. The ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION spoken by prophet Daniel is the seal of Mount Olives. @@torrenegracarlos, I agree with what you say here. I actually have a friend who was a former ordained pastor (Wesleyan) who now follows the Noachide laws. I am the one who showed him how the Christian teachings are all false and how they contradict God's word. It too took him a few years to give up the lies and once he told me while we were having one of our discussions, what if the jesus story is true, what will his own end be. Will he go to hell for all eternity... I told him that he needs to trust God's word & that he clearly was seeing how the new test contradicted those words over and over. He even once went back into Christianity for a short while but finally he pulled away completely. He is now thanks God completely on God's side. He told me once he would convert to Judaism in a heartbeat if his wife would have taken the same path he has taken. But he knows that if he became Jewish and she didn't, he would have to leave her. So he remains a follower of the 7 Noachide laws instead. & yes it was hard. What was hard for him even more was how angry he became after finally realizing the truth of that he had been lied to by all the people he had considered to be his mentors & Christianity itself for all the lies they taught which he felt gave him a wasted life devoted to only lies. I explained to him that he was mistaken. That God considers it a credit to a person who is searching for truth even for the time they are still steeped in the lie. Thus his life was not wasted at all. He was simply on a path and now that he reached the goal it is even the path itself that God sees for him as a credit. In Judaism we are taught that if a person was a sinner and then changes themselves to follow God's way, if they repent their former ways *out of love for God* not only are their sins wiped away but in fact they are turned into merits. Thus the sin they did prior is actually counted for them by God as having done a good deed in the sin itself. THAT is the power of repentance in that it can potentially turn an evil action into a good one.

hmmm, debateable., But today we have such excellent resources we can get through all of this with parallel translations of hebrew and Greek text. As a non-Christian, and non-Jewish believer in Christ, i have looked deeply into this as i always have mistrusted religion and how it was a tool of control for the nutter who must control and own all. (Although, it appears Judaism seems to differ in many respects to this model, but has been subjected to it from outwith, although all jews are as different as other peoples) but found in essence, the Roman style orders having tried to twist and controt it all, have not won! They failed, and will always fail and God's light does indeed always shine through, as i have heard a Jewish believer say we cannot contrive our human cultures upon the Great and True God of all and Ancestor of all. In His 2000rs ago carnation, he came to give light to ''the world'', the gentiles, and when he comes to reclaim Jerusalem, in sight of the whole world, He will thgen be fullfilling His promise to the Jewish people in parrticular, so really we needn't argue or worry on any of these matters. And of course we can apply ''Messaih'' in many ways to other bible characters, but we still if seeking God's Truth, and not just our human imposition (a name for ''the devilish'' entity in New testaments Book of Revelations states thast the Great Satan is the Great Imposter imposing himself upon us and the temple and so on.) the Messaiah WILL come as the Jewish Messaiah in His time. Trust God. And don't worry about this silly arguement. But it is very interesting though. It is an arguement not really worth having my friend. You are totally right. I left the Catholic church (there for 26 years) once I read the ten commandments and more stories in the Torah (or Tenak, really don’t know how to call it, sorry for my ignorance). Then I became non-denominational Christian because I wanted to please God only (sure, with the lie of the Trinity involved). I went to evangelical churches, raising hands, trying to speak in to tongues (never could), trying to please God and do my best as a Christian, being a difference in the world. I say this so you see I was not a normal cold Christian. Even Jewish people (I have many Jewish friends) would see me as a faithful spiritual person. But 11 years ago, I decided to study (not read, but spending time understanding it) Numbers, Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Oh my!!!! By blindfolds came off, I couldn’t believe my eyes, even with an English translation! I don’t know if I saw it because verses explain verses and the concept comes out as the true one, even with translation errors OR the Almighty God, our Creator, saw my heart to know Him more, maybe helped me to understand. I don’t know, but I saw the lie. Once you see it you cannot unsee it. I started doubting, in silence, not having someone to explain. Then I visited the Vatican (what a joke), other places in Italy and Spain (country that forced all LatinAmerica to be Catholics) and Israel. What a wakeup cal! When Oct 7th, 2023 cane, I dedicated myself to see all Jewish documentaries about it. My doubts about Christianity increased. Following these documentaries I found Tovia Singer and other Jewish KZbin channels who are dedicated to bringing the people back to God through the Jewish faith. I could t stop watching. Since I know my bible, I could follow all the debates, and was astounded to see the magnificent lie that the Roman Empire invented. I have to say they created a good lying product. Then they obligated all populations and natives from other countries to believe the lie. That’s how I fell. But now at 60 years old, I declare “no more lies”. I renounce the lie I was told and accept the Hebrew Word of God. I know nothing about the Jewish way of living other than what it says in the bible. But still, I am happy separating myself from Christianity

The (ridiculous) Christian viewpoint is the same ole same ole arguments that didn't work a thousand years ago and the same arguments don't work today. All one has to do to defeat any Christian argument is to go back and read the arguments made a 1,000 years ago by Christians and the counterpoints made by the various Rabbis forced by the stupid Church to debate these Christians and just copy the answers given by the Rabbis. Doing this will defeat each and every single Christian debater. I know this for a fact because I have done it myself and have defeated every Christian who has ever debated me.

I can't grasp how Christians still quote Isaiah 53 as a proof passage that foretells Jesus. There's been so many previous debates and other videos on Isaiah 53 already. I was a Christian for 40 years, but once I saw the lies and changes made to the scriptures by translators, I moved on. How do these people hear these arguments time and time again and still believe and cling to their lies? Does it not make sense to them? Can't they see the truth right in front of them?

@@WalkAndTalkTANKH It was the same for me. I was scared to death that I've got it wrong and will go to hell forever. And then I find something in Tanach that makes me realize I am on the right path, and a day later the doubt almost kills me again. That went in for months and I finally reached a point where I accept what is written in Tanach and can reject the new testament without fear of everlasting fire. I think the verses that kept me going was Isaiah 43:10-11. One means one and no other means no other. No ambiguity there. I just held in to these two verses and continued to study and asked God for wisdom and strength.

@@WalkAndTalkTANKH Jewish sages preceding the medieval scholar, Rashi, all believed this passage to be a description of the Messiah, so when Rashi controversially first suggested that Isaiah 53 was about Israel some time around 1050 CE, the Jewish community did not receive his new interpretation positively. Even Maimonides opposed it. Jewish sages saw Isaiah 53 as speaking of an individual, not plural: Targum Jonathan interprets Isaiah 53 with reference to the Messiah (singular). The Talmud never interprets Isaiah 53 with reference to the nation of Israel (as a whole), but only to individuals within It. The Jerusalem Talmud (Tractate Shekalim 5:1) applies 53:12 to Rabbi Akiva (singular), while the Babylonian Talmud applies 53:4 to the Messiah (singular) in Sanhedrin 98b, 53:10 to the righteous in general in Tractate Berakhot 5a, and 53:12 to Moses (singular) in Tractate Sotah 14a. Midrash Rabbah interprets 53:5 with reference to the Messiah (Ruth Rabbah 2:14). Yalkut Shimoni applies 52:13 to the Messiah.

@meme-bd5hk 5 жыл бұрын
@@mikejames7092, that is a false Christian propaganda statement. Even a Christian church father (who lived hundreds of years before Rashi) wrote that the Jews in his day believed the Jews are the subject of Isaiah 53. Your conclusions based on the Talmudic citations are your own misunderstandings of what it means for Isaiah 53 to be about Israel. Rabbi Singer actually covers this topic in one of his lectures and points out that these verses refer to the Messiah only in the capacity of him being part of Israel rather than a unique person outside the scope of Israel. This is precisely why the citations you reference are speaking of individual verses rather than the passage as a whole. Let me ask you the following... how do you explain the words "לָֽמוֹ" and "בְּמֹתָ֑יו" in verses 8 and 9 respectively if it is referring to an individual? How is "them" an individual? & how is "deaths" (plural) an individual? I find it odd that Christians will try to use the plurality in Genesis chapter 1 verse 26 as a reason to argue that God is plural (trinity) yet at the same time they argue for a single individual despite the plural terms used in Isaiah 53. To me that shows a lack of honesty. Do you really think it is for no reason that *all* the Christian (mis)translations of the verses in Isaiah 53 use the words "Him" and "death"? Do you think this is just a coincidence? In truth they all saw the problem it would create for their viewpoint had they correctly translated those verses. So they lied to their readers just as they do in hundreds of other verses. & pardon my saying so but only an ignoramus would argue that Isaiah 53 is about jesus of the new test even if they read it as referring to an individual, as the verses in Isaiah 53 contradicts the new test portrayal of jesus over and over. I would posit that on some level Isaiah 53 is a polemic against jesus. I actually believe one of the points Isaiah was teaching in chapter 53 was to prophetically inform people that jesus was not the subject of this passage. I believe Isaiah prophetically knew that there would in the future be a person named jesus whom the new test would be written about and that people would in the future believe he was the subject of these verses, and it was Isaiah's intention to show people that this is not the way these verses are to be understood. I actually wrote a 17 point thesis backing up this viewpoint. If you care to see it I can God willing post it for you. (though it would be too long to post it in one post, rather it needs two posts)
