On buying Kim and Ron's romance, I think it's much more believable when you consider the real-time showing and buildup to their relationship. It's easy to forget when you're binging the whole show in one sitting, but back then when shows had literal months/years to play out, rewatching episodes as they came on air instead of on-demand streaming, their eventual relationship I think makes much more sense.

It's also explained in the moodulator episode. It only magnifies what was already there, and then of course the line that ends the episode. "There's still fireworks." It's not just about the actual fireworks but the characters. At this point of the show, Ron is shown not to be ready for things to progress. By the end of the movie, he realizes how much Kim means to him and that he does not want to lose her to someone else. The school cheering those 2 dating is meant to be a celebration of the fans, since most of them would be teenagers or young adults who at the point of airing have gone through something similar.

Minor correction: Steve Barkin isn't the Principal. He's a substitute teacher. Which, in this show, means that he fills in for the teacher of whatever class is plot-relevent to the dilemma Kim and/or Ron is experiencing. Eg. Kim sucks at baking, and she and Ron wind up the only students in Home Economics, and Barkin has to teach the class because the previous teacher retired six years ago and no one noticed until now. Later, Barkin also becomes the Football Coach.

I think the only outdated aspect is some of the slang but as someone who had a teenage sister at the time, she didn’t talk like that(so might be for the best it was already outdated) and a joke where the Seniors are trying ransom a boy band but their producer is making more money with them kidnapped and says “I’ll call you back” and Junior says “how can he call me back when I haven’t given him our number?” But that has more to do with technology advancement than something being racist, homophobic, or anything like that.

For Kim Possible specifically, it honestly hits harder and causes the show to make *WAY* more sense if you watch the episodes in chronological order vs airing order through the Kim Possible Wiki (they have an option to sort the episodes chronologically). When I watched Sink or Swim (the 4th episode aired) as the first episode instead of Crush like the airing order is, it was a *GAME CHANGER* for me. Disney had a tendency to air shows out of order during the 2000s because they thought other episodes would do better ( *ESPECIALLY* regarding this show) so rewatching in chronological order is very satisfying.

Kim Possible is a show that had a lot of care put into it. Writers genuinely tried to make the show work and build off of the things they established instead of allowing themselves to just do the same thing with a new coat of paint. I always adored how Season 4 actually did what stories usually don't do, and that's addressing what happens after finally getting together as the main couple. Ron shows how much he struggles to change and grow up from old habits so that he can be a proper boyfriend to Kim.

Kim Possible actually has a surprising amount of depth, which is not typical of Disney, much less as an animated production. Writing is notably good, animation is predominantly fluid, character development and interactions are wholly enjoyable, and voice acting is quite excellent. The series isn’t Disney’s highest rated animated series for no reason. I still remain upset that we have yet to get a fully fleshed out Blu-Ray set with bloopers and commentary.

So the Drama was meant to be how the show went out, hence getting Kim and Ron together, Drakken and Shego arrested (that scene was added to show she didn’t die from electrocution) and the school sign of many puns saying “end”. Then the show got renewed for a new season, the aliens introduced to explain why Kim couldn’t rely on the power suit from the movie and thank heavens the writers stuck the landing on writing the relationship as a long run thing.

Also in the original approved script, Kim was supposed to kill Shego. That kick into the tower at the end was supposed to be fatal It is unclear why it was changed. Most believe it was because there were talks of another season or because Disney didn’t want Kim to be a murderer. Probably the latter

Honestly like most of the better written shows. Kim possible expanded on its story with good criticism like making Ron more important going forward and not just ending things at a kiss but showing us their relationship development. Worst shows are star vs Steven universe legend of Korra they are awful at all romance and honestly getting a couple together sooner is usually better when they can expand on the relationship rather than waste time. @@ivanbluecool I agree Star vs,is shit. Watched the first... five episodes. trash. Annoying. Steven Universe started off well, and just felt like it was dragging it's feet to get to the next point, the songs are wonderful, some characters (bismuth, peridot, and lapis are great! + Garnet!) Now Legend of Korra is not all about romance. Hell it's only the first season, it's like the creators realized. "Shit. Female fans don't JUST care about romance? That's not right! They want actual plot, fights, war, political drama, battles, and SUBSTANCE!!!???!" Realized, oh yeah, fans of ATLA are a bit older, so sure let's actually WRITE a good story, so the second season. It's improved IMMENSLY! I'm saying this because I picked Korra up during the Pandemic. I had tried watching it TWICE, before but was bored and uninterested. There were definitely hints at Kim and Ron's romance throughout the seasons leading up to the final movie. I think it started with the Christmas special when Kim kisses Ron under the mistletoe. Then in "emotion sickness" we see Ron's thoughts about dating Kim. Clearly he is interested but worried that things will change for the worst between them. Then in "Gorilla Fist" when Yori comes back to get Ron's help, we see Kim acting very jealous that Ron has this secret mystery girl who clearly likes Ron and Ron likes the attention too. There was a KZbin video I saw that brought up more episodes but those are the ones I remember off the top of my head. I'm glad the show didn't focus in it too much. A lot of shows at the time would drag your feet over a will-they-won't-they romance, I'm just glad this one was low-key. I can't really see Kim and Ron with anyone else tbh. The show gave them both one or two possible love interests but they didn't work out.

I'm of the same opinion. This is basically the only animated Western show I know of that handles the "will they-won't they" romance aspect well despite quote-unquote "dragging" their relationship out by getting together pretty late in the series. The chemistry is clearly there between the two with some subtle nods here and there about romance, but the episodes aren't circled around their blooming romance. Instead it's all about the witty dialogue, action, and comedy, the shows' strongest aspects. What makes it not feel grating is that the two leads aren't constantly talking about wanting to get together, which often kills the story of whatever an episode is about in most other shows. They also have other crushes/dates with other characters without the entire show being centered around what the other is feeling by being jealous or openly expressing constantly to the audience that they are in love with each other. Sure, Kim or Ron may have disapproving lines about each other's dating lives, but neither of them express it the same way (i.e. Kim is more jealous of Ron's relationship with other girls on a couple of occasions or when he's not spending time with her), and it only really comes out when they think it may actually bear fruit (see Yori and Ron). Just subtle hints without bashing you over the head with it. Most other times it's just them being pretty cool with the other person dating or asking someone else out, since both remain confident that their friendship won't be affected. That is, until the movie came out which challenges their relationship, both as friends and as romantic partners. Another part that makes their relationship work is that their back and forth line delivery works whether they are friends or romantic partners. They clearly enjoy being around each other and them becoming a couple doesn't change their dynamic that made the show fun to watch. It's a shame that other shows didn't take more notes from Kim Possible about romance. *cough* Danny Phantom* *cough* Legend of Korra *cough*

I feel like almost the entire series of Phineas and Ferb is just "simply more Phineas and Ferb" with the same formulaic episodes (for a meta running joke, I suppose) and very little to almost no evolution of the characters within the show until season 4's "Act Your Age" episode. Adding new things can certainly be tough, and although it is a skill that can be improved, a great starting point before then is thinking what can play well off your characters or how something they went through to grow or even just belongs in their backstory could be mirrored and show how they can help someone else through it or see themselves. Stumbled upon this video after a nostalgia wave hit me and I went and binged all the animated shows and cartoons I grew up with, and this one was near the top of my list. This was a surprisingly well written cartoon series in the early to mid 2000's. Good job pretty much summing up the series in one video. Also, it was kinda funny how things turned out with this series, where season 3 should have been the end of the show, yet due to popular demand Disney greenlit a final season 4. As a result, we actually get one of the rarer instances, especially during the early 2000's, where a show that has 2 main characters end up in a romantic relationship, actually continue for a full season dealing with some of the challenges associated with being in a relationship. Usually cartoons and anime leave the relationship bit as the "end goal". This was one of the first cartoons that showcased their dynamic after the supposed "goal" is already reached. Definitely not a perfect series, but compared to the other slop that aired alongside this masterpiece, it's just not even close.

I've never watched Kim Possible before, but this video alone already convinced me it's really good and worth a watch. It's really cool that they were able to give everything a proper ending, as many shows don't get to do that. I do wonder if they had any plans for something more for shego though, since from what I got from this video there were threads in her story that could still be explored. Like a movie or something, could be cool, don't know if it's something people who watched the show would actually want tho, lol

No idea if u will see this but thanks for making this video , this is a show I also grew up with and remember fondly, but as we grow up we forget how fun these shows were and how they shaped who we wanted to be when we grew up. Watching this has reminded me of a lot of the the things I wanted as a child that became less important along the way. Anyway thanks for bringing this show back to my attention

That was a very good review. I was born in 2004 and I watched Kim Possible during my teen years and is one of my favorite shows and Kim Possible Movie So The Drama is one of my favorite movies. I’m male. Kim and Ron I feel is one of Disney’s relationships and the villains are so entertaining especially Dr Drakken and Shego. Dr Drakken and Shego are one of my favorite villains. What I like about Bonnie’s Freudian excuse is it is not used as an excuse for her to change for the better. I do agree just because someone has a sad backstory doesn’t mean a character should automatically change because while yes it does create some sympathy, but at the same time Freudian excuse is no excuse. It would’ve been interesting if there was an episode where Kim or Ron point out to Bonnie Freudian excuse is no excuse. Bonnie is my favorite cartoon bully because she actually has a personality so she feels like a actual bully and I like that she still points out to Kim her flaws and there was even a couple times where she is justified on being annoyed at Kim. Kim is definitely a good feminist because while she is a strong independent woman and flawed she still gets called out for something either her parents and Ron and takes responsibility for her actions. She knows she still doesn’t deserve everything and everything should be given to her just because she exists. She still has to earn it. Come to think of it it’s equal of wrong doings and calling outs between Kim and Ron, so it’s fair and it doesn’t fully demoralize both of them. Kim even still needs help sometimes, it’s not weak everyone needs help sometimes and Kim and Ron helped and saved each other. So it’s fair. I mean if toxic masculinity and femininity are a thing, than toxic feminism has to be a thing. It’s nice that Kim and Ron don’t do it just because they expect a award in return and like George Bailey are flawed human beings. A 20 minute special like It’s A Wonderful Life would’ve been interesting.

Well, two years before Warmonga shows up (2007) there was a Kim Possible and Lilo & Stitch crossover (2005), demonstrating that aliens, indeed, exist in Kim Possible's universe. Lilo & Stitch also did a crossover with Recess which hinted at aliens existing in that show.

There are loads of enjoyable characters, and Shego is my favorite. I know it’s not a popular opinion, but I shipped Ron with Yori. I didn’t mind Ron with Kim though. They had some sweet moments. Kim Possible was one of my favourite shows growing up. I loved the action, the comedy and the characters. It felt wacky, but in a Scooby-Doo adventure kind of way (also one of my favourite shows). It was always pretty creative and took a lot of old ideas and added fun twists. My personal favourite episode has always and will always be Season 2, Episode 30 (Rewriting History). The fun of returning to the past and solving the mystery of their ancestors was thrilling for me when I was younger. I'm currently rewatching the show, and while it does get a bit stale when you watch episode after episode (it isn't a show you can easily binge), it still holds up years after I first watched it.

For some reason, this is also one of the shows where the German dub is up to the humor/action of the original; they even managet to get a lot of the jokes across. The 4th season was a bit "uh-oh, the fans wanted another season, quick randomize some ideas!" but overall still mostly enjoyable. The supersize episode could have used a slightly less preachy approach...

One of my favorite episode is the one with Team Impossible (Season 3 Episode 10 if anyone wants to watch). Speaking on Kim an Ron’s romantic relationship, I don’t think it was ever forced. As explained in S4, Kim always liked Ron, but he was oblivious to her intentions. She eventually tried to move on but was never able to maintain a romantic relationship. Although her mind had moved on, her heart had not. “So the Drama”, atleast the ending, perfectly encapsulates this romantic paradigm. Ron realizes his feelings too late, with Kim have a prom date. The end with them finally coming together really brings home the ups and downs they have been through the whole series. From there, S4 really just shows their relationship dynamic and how they believe the other is enough (although Ron doesn’t believe he is). Overall, one if not the best and *somewhat* realistic relationships on television.

I really like how they do a good role reversal. And it works because of the comedy. And how ron isnt just the motional anquor, he goes through its own stuff. And i think they gave him enough with him making a jack of all trades and its clar kim is a pushover and he an underarchiever and she is the badass pro but he, has really a lot of more social open skills and other odd ones. They really need each other, she drags him to , they just bring out and need each other. She him probaly more I alwys like good role reveral wher te dude, get to shine too. And that works too because kim is damn good but also, a person. and akward, and , has self esteem isues too. And , the dynamic is really good. plus i am sucker for all the humor. And spy parodies. One great must be th brain washing shampoo. And the villains are characters XD And hey the old people having really good skill and experiences, is not new ut always good. Maybe will friedle bias, as he is best batman. and rons dad, haha i lovebadass accountant episodes.

While your criticisms are totally valid and things can't always be compared in a vaccuum, I think in response to your notes about it building up and evolving, it's fair to bring up that Kim Possible aired back in the days before the Gravity Falls, Owl Houses and Amphibias where society was used to an ongoing plot. Excuse me if the timing is off, but I believe Kim Possible's contemporaries were episodic one offs like Ed, Edd and eddy, Courage the cowardly dog, powerpuff girls and other shows where everything restarted from 0 at the end of the episode, which likely resulted in a lot of the retreading old ground like you said. Unlike anime (which I think was it's biggest draw), characters didn't have continuing story lines often, grow from experiences, or reference previous episodes all that much or at least meaningfully. It was more likely that shows had to prove themselves by pumping out stand alone episodes that anyone could turn on at any time and follow and only got the privilege of being significantly continuous later on, like around season 3 with KP. Not to say there were not shows that did this, but they were farer and fewer between. Building plots, characters and worlds over time were the exception, not the rule/expectation like they are today (despite how much TV shows try to revert back, like pushing Rise of the TMNT to be more episodic one offs rather than the plot driven narrative it wanted to be; I had to make the dig). So I can understand that your points have a deeper reason rather than the writers deciding to actively retread old ground or push lessons in each episode. Still a great analysis and a real trip down memory lane for me and I gotta say, I still think so much of it holds up because of the dialogue and great voice acting they got for the time.

I love that they play into that in the beginning of So The Drama. She gets home, goes inside all casual like she hadn’t been out all night. Naturally her parents wonder where tf she was and her immediate response is to turn on the tv in the kitchen which shows a news program talking about how she saved Nakasumi-san. Like she’s already standing by the tv when the camera cuts back to her so I’m assuming that‘s become somewhat of a routine thing by the time we get to that scene.

As someone who hasn’t watched it since he was a kid I watched it in chronological order. And it holds up really, I especially appreciate how they make Kim and rob not always win or lose. Kim suffers through tough subjects at school, boys, and insecurities regular teenagers go through. And ron while he can be a doofus and a goofball there are times he’s better at Kim in some subjects and he does rise up when he needs to. I think the only aspect that’s kinda dated are some cliches like the banned episode about ron being a man(the episode was only banned in some countries because it revealed Rob was Jewish), some of the teenage slang, and a joke that involved phone numbers but it’s only dated because of caller ID now that didn’t exist when the episode aired.

Could one of the causes of Shego being angry and impatient is due to the fact she constantly having put up with dumb males IE Drakken and her brothers, I mean we don't she Shego with any female friends or colleagues in the series, I mean the closet Shego would have was Kim, her arch rival, I would like to think eventually Kim and Shego did become friends after the series, but hey that's just what I think, Shego for me is one those best characters in any series, that want to know more about, but was pretty much left to your immigration. Now as for single favorite episode in the series, that award has to go to Steal Wheels, the paring of Dr Drakken and Motor Ed was a really funny way of showing relatives trying to outshine each other with their egos.
