Here in the U.S and even more so in the EU Tobacco products have been crucified in the media (and for good reason), while Alcohol still has a positive media presence and always has since the end of prohibition. I worked at Costco for a really long time, nearly a decade, and I worked predominantly in the liquor store. The selection of alcohols changes pretty frequently due to the nature of alcohol frequently suffering shortages, but I don't think I've had a Kirkland alcohol that I thought was bad for the price. Also, last time I went to buy it they were out of spiced rum, and from everything I went through when we were out of any kirkland product, I don't blame any employee for being filled with hate everytime someone asks for a sold out product. People are vile as hell when mildly inconvenienced

Edit: When I said “gets their alcohol from” I meant just that. Besides Grey Goose the other brands I mention just produce the Kirkland stuff. It’s not necessarily the exact recipe as the name brands! I did more research and their “French vodka” which is actually made In the same style as and nearby the Grey Goode distillery. Their “American Vodka” is made in California (and is noticeably worse, IMO). Their “Canadian Whisky” IS Crown Royal and the “Bourbon” is Dickel.

FYI Cogniac is a Brandy but from France that's the only reason it's called Cogniac. It's basically a trademarke because french are picky about their wine and their Brandy. And liquors can be made with brandy but not Cogniac because french would rather waste their bad batches or not so good yields on Grand Gala, Blue coracao or Grand Marnier than use their Cogniac with high yields same with other countries. And fun fact Brandy is just typically all around low yielded grapes that can't or shouldn't be made into wine.

I... like gin. Usually I do drink it with ice, maybe a bit of water, but I prefer gin way more to vodka. Vodka is just so... boring. Plus, gin is basically just vodka with juniper berries. Depending on the kind of gin you get the flavor can be wildly different.
