My guess would have to be that The Staff of Wisdom can bring anyone back from The Spirit Realm even if their spirit has gotten completely demolition or that in The Spirit Realm no one can die even if your soul has been demolished in there. But it was clear that he was just thrown in there for fan service and with no explanation.

Spirit realm is not strictly speaking the afterlife. From what I see kong fu panda is loosely based on wuxia which is chinese mythology. Where there is kinda an afterlife but they mostly use reincarnation. which means that the spirit realm can be considered purgatory or a diffrent plane of existence with it's own law's like people not being able to die in the spirit realm or something else like spirits just straight up not being able to die ever. You can go down this rabbit hole further but there could be so manny reasons he could be alive but it boils down to either magic or mythology things.

I blame Mitchell for trying to ax Tigress and the rest of the 5 to be cheap (even knicking the idea of Shifu being kidnapped so he'd be there to reconcile with Tai Lung. Thank goodness for the animators and marketing making their distain known. All we needed was a scene of Tigress and the 5 politely, and to Po's Shock, turning down the Dragon Warrior Title as they no longer need it as they wish to instead choose and make their own Destinies. Ex: Viper taking over her Father's place as Grand Master, Crane taking over Lee Dai Acadamy alongside his old friend Mei Ling the Mountain Lioness, Monkey seeks out troubled youths to redeem as Oogway did for him, Mantis becomes a traveling acupuncturist warrior looking for love and praise, and Tigress has become a wandering warrior also attempting to achieve her inner peace by tracking down her origins before either taking over as the New Caretaker of Bao Gu Orphanage or choosing to be by Po's side so they're never alone. 🐼❤🐯

Universal only gave them a budget of 85 million USD vs the 145 million USD budget 3 got. The voice actors for F5 are _expencive_ . They have no control over the budget, so I dont think its fair to blame him for cutting corners. But I do agree that all the desitions he made for the movie was soo bad, and (from what I heard) he was a very shitty director.

@@cruximee Regardless a scene where Po asks Shifu to name one of the 5 with Shifu, anticipating that answer, had already checked with them earlier and they replied with a letter to Po that Po reads out loud could've saved the need to hire the Five's voice actors. It'd be better than learning Tigress got screwed out of another chance because she was fighting the 'Free Range Chicken Clan.'

My biggest complaint about this movie is that both the internal and external conflicts felt weak and awkward. Starting with The Chameleon's motive to be evil, I mean, when she said that she wasn't taught Kung Fu because she was considered "small and weak," that threw me way off, especially when we have a tiny character like Mantis beating up foes many times his own size or even Po himself being a "big fat panda," considered weak with almost no one believing in him before becoming the Dragon Warrior... This series is literally about becoming more than what you or others believe you can be. I thought because of The Chameleon's lack of people believing in her, that would have been the perfect opportunity for Po to mentor her as the Spiritual Leader the movie was building up for him to be. But the writers completely missed that opportunity and just went "beat villain, world safe, Fox now Dragon Warrior." Speaking of Po becoming the Spiritual Leader, this is also a very odd decision. As you said, Po hasn't been the Dragon Warrior for that long and it really just feels like Master Shifu would rather have someone better and "more suitable" to be the Dragon Warrior. I mean, we see how he reacts to Zhen when she is picked as the next Dragon Warrior. The previous movies really went in depth with what it means to be the "Dragon Warrior" (from a blank scroll to healing scars to discovering your true self), but Master Shifu, and really the entire movie, forgot all that. But with that in mind, I guess it really doesn't matter who is made the Dragon Warrior in the end whether it feels deserved or not, but in this case, I feel like it was a bit forced for Zhen to be Po's successor, almost as if the drive the producers had for making this film was "What animal can we make into a cute marketable plushie?" Anyway, those are some of my thoughts.

Mike. I want to express my gratitude to you for spoiling such a fantastic movie series. Zhen ought to have been Tai Lung, and this film should have been his redemption story. He and Po would have had a hilarious yet serious interaction, similar to that of Goku and Vegeta. He ruined the chances for Tai Lung and Shifu to reunite, undermined the Furious Five, prevented Chameleon from becoming a truly scary villain, and I believe someone else should be in charge of the next movie.

the people who worked on this movie had great ideas which were sadly shut down by the director. po wanting to choose one of the five as the dragon warrior, but them refusing, as it's not their destiny and not what they want anymore; shifu getting kidnapped and interacting with tai lung; the chameleon having a more fleshed out backstory (the director didn't want her to have one, for some reason).

Kfp 4 isn't a bad movie, it really isn't, but the main reason it's the weakest one of the franchise is that it simply didn't have the same charm as the other 3 have. The first 3 movies were more than just Po kung fu-ing bad guys, he was actually learning valuable life lessons that helped him grow as a character, making him a compelling protagonist. But this movie is pretty much just that, Po kung fu-ing bad guys. I'm not even gonna bother talking about how The Chameleon's motivation for being evil completely denies the existence of viper, mantis, shifu, etc. Zhenn becoming the dragon warrior was so out of nowhere, I literally had the same reaction as shifu. It's a pretty decent movie tho, I give it a 6.5/10.

You wanna know what The Chameleon reminds me of… Broly from DB. Don't get me wrong, he was popular, but as a character he had the stupidest reason to be evil. He was startled by Goku's crying when they were babies. WOW, deep. But in Dragon Ball Super: Broly The Movie (2018), Broly was reinvented as a not only a superior character, but a ACTUAL person. He talks to people he has a softer side he’s 3 dimensional and likeable. And after watching that movie, it taught me that a terrible written villain (or any terrible written character in general) *can* be rebuild into something way better then they already are. I still do believe that it's still not too late for DreamWorks to retcon Kung Fu Panda 4 and rewrite it into something better then it already was. Especially The Chameleon. She has a sick design, and her full potential has yet to be seen. If Broly can go from a dumb character to a awesome character, then why not The Chameleon.

Also because Chameleon is literally a nobody, Tai Lung was related to Shifu's past, Shen was related to Po's past, Kai was related to Oogway's past, who tf even is The Chameleon?

(Before I say anything, I straight up forgot this movie came out, went and bought it to watch it before watching this video, because the ADHD is strong in this one) Anyway, I honestly think the movie was great idea in theory, and just needed some more love? I love the plot line, I like the characters, but it feels like not enough depth was given to anyone really. I'd love to know how The Chameleon even got into power of Juniper City in the first place and what sorcery exactly she studied and learned... and also maybe an actual name? (Imagine having a baby and naming it "The Chameleon) It COULD HAVE been a really good movie, I feel like, but it was just okay? I wouldn't say it was bad, though. It's still a fine movie, but I was still left incredibly disappointed. All my skepticisms became reality, and while not a bad movie, it is incredibly disappointing. I purposely lowered my expectations for this movie as well. I knew it wouldn't match the 9/10 original or the 10/10 almost perfect masterpiece of the second, so I set my expectations around 7/10 like the third... just for it to be so painfully average at the end of it.

personally I liked it but there was 3 major flaws 1- how the fox girl speed blitzed shifu at the start of the movie when po got her out of prison 2- how the other villans kai and shin looked very weird and did not speak same thing for the furious 5 at the end sceen 3- which is the biggest flaw is the ending! how the chameleon despite having all the villans power tai who destroyed countless villages shin who almost ruled the valley and kai who was literally oogway rival she got defeated in a very dumb cheap way! I thought po will transcend all his powers and will reach oogway stage of power as hinted at the start of the movie when shifu told him to become something greater and he wouldve made the fox girl the dragon warrior and in a very sick way would defeat the chameleon but insted we got that garbage.

in short no. I watched it and it is actually quite good. I personally find how Po let Zhen fulfill her potential instead of kicking Chameleons ass right away a nice element. However the voice acting is quite garbage. overall 8/10

I really thought yes, this movie would be a reflection of the past and a look at the future and a theoretical 5th movie would end the franchise on a soft note that everyone is ok and going on their own paths. Note: I've been a fan of this franchise from movie 1 and this makes me so sad that the cool epic 4th movie after the 3rd mystical magical and emotional movie has so many downsides :(

Should have bin about po and tylung getting to know each other and tylung redeeming himself. finaly becoming the dragon warrior then forgiving shefu for his upbringing. 6 months later we get tylung spin off season

one good thing about this movie is that po's fight scenes are taken seriously unlike in the other 3 kfps where after every epic moment something goofy happens (like po realizing it's hot after he catches the fireball in kfp 2)

I rewatched all 4 isn't bad just a ok film from the other 3. It felt rushed in my opinion that's all. Most people over exaggerate about there favorite villains or what not to give it a bad review. Honesty wish they didn't rushed. To also mention they shouldn't have left the furious 5 out since po relies on them throughout 1 and 2. Overall at 7.5/10. I hope the 5 kung fu panda movie gives us more since they have more time to work with. Loved the video.

Kung Fu Panda 4 hate is a bit forced, at least in my opinion. Movie is def a step back from the 3rd, but it still sells as a great kung fu panda film! The action in the film is at its peak, the voice acting sells, andd seeing Tai Lung back is such a delight. Everyones entitled to their own opinion, but I still think KFP 4 is a good movie, but not at the other movies' level. Great video!

It's been well established though that Po was high profile after the first movie. Holiday special had all the masters from around china revere him and in other media cannon or not different provinces recognize and respect him immediately. This is the only media I can think of at all this changed. Yet another reason this was just plain bad.

I'm with you on this. Kungfu Panda 4 is not a great movie, especially when compared to its predecessors, but it is entertaining on a light-hearted level. I think sometime we fans just expect a tad too much from a franchise we love that the franchise eventually gets ruined, not able to live up to the expectation. It's sad. Really.

I saw every single plot twist in this fucking movie coming from 50 miles away, and words cannot express how pissed I am at this dogshit piece of fiction. It feels like the people responsible behind it just wanted to milk the franchise for more money without spending any excess on stuff that you mentioned like the VA's for the furious 5, shen or kai (who literally shouldnt even be alive btw - and him and Shen would have NEVER respected Po.) If this movie was longer and done with actual care, It would've been such a hit. The concept of the chameleon on paper is SO AWESOME, and I SO wish that we saw Tai Lung talk to or apologize to Shifu. Remember that he came very, very close to breaking his front in the 1st movie when he fought Shifu, and It'd be so peak to see him look at the bigger picture after his defeat from Po

Kfp 4 is weakest because it just copies the successor trope like accidentally meeting the successor and then helping them to overcome their fear and deep rooted insecurity meanwhile the villain is just copy of earlier villains and has similar philosophy

about the name situation, this whole thing REALLY bugged me. The zh sound in Chinese is similar to the English J mixed with d, and honestly quite similar to the d in the word dream. Not a single person told any of them how to pronounce it correctly (or no one even cared) and it made me so mad. In reality, although similar, the names Zhen and Shen have distinct sounds which are easier to differentiate if you know how to say it
