I've been here 5 years now and I really like here and I wouldn't go any where else besides here. The biggest thing people have problem with over here is that they don't know how to dispatch themselves to different loads or to the right freight lane so in other words they need a dispatcher. I first came here to landstar in 2017 with a brand new truck and I paid it off 5 years later which it now 2022 and I'm home every week and sometimes during the week so that should tell drivers that we do plenty well over here. Oh yeah and im also buying a trailer also that I have only 2 years left to pay off and it's a 2018 year model trailer

@@TerraFirmaX We were there a year and a half. I wish Landstar was a little more honest about what their load board is. Unless you can hook up with the right direct shippers, and not everyone can, you’ll be dealing with brokers. That’s just how it works. I did have high hopes of it working with Landstar. Oh well…we’re much happier now. We just got our first check from the company we are now with. Four days of work…$8800 after all expenses. Except taxes, of course.

unit 440550 Cdn owner op. From 1995 to 2001. Best company I worked for .I worked with 6 agents and made a lot of money. Mark in Vegas was the best. Within a year I was busy with show loads, casino slot loads all over the country.Light loads most always. I accumulated 100 blankets 50 straps 20 load racks allowing me to do white glove no touch loads, I owned my '53 trailer and found that was the best way to work. Retired just after 9-11. BTW I did well with buying Landstar stock for 5 years .

Hello,I am trying to join a Landstar now. I got to the point I need to do my truck inspection at TA, and do the Drug test I have to pay myself for. And after that go to orientation. But I am really worried about diesel ⛽️ price which is about 40% of freight pay and Landstar taking 35%. So just trying to figure out do I will survive pulling dry van at Landstar? Any thoughts on this?
@TerraFirmaX
@TerraFirmaX 2 жыл бұрын
The answer to that question lies within you. We get fuel discounts here, it's around 1 a gallon off right now, it goes up and down. Freight rates aren't bad at the moment. I know people are doing it. TA is the worst place to get your truck inspected unless you have no other choice. look at this as a business. Paying for a drug test, inspection and what ever else you need is the cost of doing business. Landstar is NOT taking 35% from you, you are in a contract in which you get 65%. In return for 35% Landstar covers insurance, IFTA, Making sure you get paid, Paying the agents, Logs and other compliance items as well as most all of the legal stuff. Don't start out here thinking that Landstar is taking something from you, if that's how you feel you will never make it here. Wish you the best.

Not being a jerk, but why did you not have the money to repair your truck? If you were a runner Landstar likes and do a good job, why not? Doesn't sound like you make enough money to cover your basic costs, which include a healthy repair budget. I've been looking at Landstar for a while now and I don't see anyone saying they take home $4000, $5000 or $6000 per week consistantly. I see more like $3000 per week, which is less than a company driver makes (minus truck payment, repair, etc...) without the headache?

Just remember your the CEO of your company doing business with Landstar their not gonna hold your hand they'll let you go out of business, if your a hard worker and know how to dispatch yourself you can make it but just because your a hard worker doesnt make you a good O/O you need to try and get debt free in business and at home so you can make it thur the slow periods in business weather economy or a major break down then it wont matter if your with Landstar or elsewhere saying all that this place is the closest to being on your own authority most guys i talk with have been here between 10-32 years and will retire here one more thing good paying agents want BCOs that get job done with no problems headaches bitching pain in the butt excuses BCO good luck

@@412hwc I still feel the same as the first video but Landstar has incorporated some practices that would eventually come back to destroy what used to be a great place to lease. Some people are doing well there but they are few. But you see how the freight is, and with their business model, as with any lease company, the driver looses. I’ve been at this for a long time and I’m just tired of playing the game. Plus a recent leg break has really given me perspective on life choices and how much time we have here on earth, we don’t know. So for those reasons and others as well as the freight situation I thought it was time to call it.
