I got PRK (was not a good candidate for lasik) about a year and a half ago and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! It’s life changing ☺️

I'm against it. Lasik ruined my eyes. Worst decision I ever made. Permanent dry eyes, pain and headaches are not fun.

i got LASIK 7 years ago, 6 months before Lasik I started an hormonal treatment, that and the LASIK leave my eyes super dry. I have been progressively loosing my sight this 7 years without me really noticing it (my doctor always blamed my dry oyes for the blurred vision. Now that I live in another state and change doctor, my new doctor told me that I'm basically blind and that they have strong suspicion about something irregular with my cornea. I'm doing tests and waiting for an appointment with the specialist, but now im scared about the results and treatment, I used to have full trust in my doctors but now after this last eye exam I don't know what to believe anymore :(

@@darknezfire Sometimes your just have to keep going to different doctors to get the right diagnosis. I had Lasik 14 years ago which left my eyes extremely dry and always hurting. I went to a few different doctors and they always told me I just had dry eyes. I always complained about my eyes hurting and achiness in my eyes, checks and forehead. They always pushed it off as my eyes were dry. They would just throw at me eye drops to treat the dryness. Nothing has work. Last year I was referred to a corneal specialist and they diagnosed me with corneal neuropathic pain AKA corneal neuroglia. I never once heard of that in all the years going to eye doctors. Right now I'm on a path to get the nerve pain under control along with treating the dry eyes. Keep going and don't give up. You just have to find the right doctor.

LOVE THIS CHANNEL! Like Luxey and Amy... I had LASIK in 2005 and I'm getting up there so I probably won't get a touch up, however my far vision is held up pretty darn good I can still pass 20/20 on the eye chart but it's not like it was 10 years ago. At this point, in 10 years I could be looking at cataracts so I've heard (and I need this confirmed) that I will be better off not doing a second Lasik surgery so that future cataract surgery won't compromise my vision.

I love this discussion, Rupa! I had considered Lasik, since I was at minus 8 Diopters, for a long time. Then at age 68, my cataracts were bad enough, so they had to be fixed. That got me back to minus 0.75 Diopters, or about 20/50 on my Snellen. Yes, back to almost totally normal, and covered by insurance. Lasik scares the hell out of me. Subsequently, I got myself back to 20/20.

I had LASIK almost a year ago. It was the best decision I ever made. I had always thought my correction was not serious enough to do it but when my contacts became so uncomfortable, I looked into it. I didn't want to wear glasses full time. I had been doing 'monovision' with my contact lenses for about 25 years, so they were able to do that with my LASIK correction. Now at age 66, I do not need readers! (boy are my friends jealous!) I don't regret the decision.

Thank you for these very informative videos and the effort you put into producing them. A question for a future video: Are there any other options for chronic ptosis besides a sling type of surgery? I’ve had two ptosis surgeries in six years and due to poor quality levator muscles it looks like I will need it again in future years. What is the limit of surgeries before a sling must be considered? Any suggestions or advice would be gratefully appreciated.

can u comment on the fda draft? if you knew nothing about lasik and read this it would look pretty damning don't u think . what's your take about the real complication chances. it seems like the take from the med community is after a year out from procedure any new dry eye or halos are gone. given how many ppl get lasik doing a study with a few hundred ppl seems half-hearted.

I have -0.5 D refractive error after trifocal implantation. May sound little and vision is actually good in daylight. But this small error affect contrast sensitivity and halos significantly. Correcting with glasses makes halos disappear almost. Is it less side effects after laser surgery when the correction is smaller?

Corneal thickness matters, not cornea shape as such..... But ya dilution of pupil and its size does matter. If your pupil have high dilution rate in low light condition, so there are chances that either you will disqualify for lasik or you will end up with halos or starburst which is very irritating.
