I have a gen IV X1 yoga and it is still going strong after so many years. Needed a new keyboard under warranty, but no probs great service in Australia so at least I know it will get fixed OK. I wish the stylus had a silo or even a freaking pen loop like the 12 inch Yoga, but warming to the external stand/keyboard. Would have to go with the gen 2 product from Lenovo over the ASUS, although I wish them every success. Waiting for Microsoft to come to the party with a foldable surface/neo replacement....

Lenovo X1 Fold Gen 2 supports a stylus. Asus 17 Fold doesn't. Asus 17 Fold uses an OLED panel from BOE. The 1st gen Lenovo X1 Fold uses an OLED panel from LG Display and therefore I'm ASSUMING (I could be wrong here) that the gen 2 model is also using an OLED panel from LG Display. Not sure. $3,500 for a device with a BOE panel?? NO THANKS! 😂😂😂 P.s. Asus 17 Fold has a keyboard that is NOT backlit. Lenovo X1 Fold Gen 2 has a backlit keyboard. EDIT: Sharp is the OLED panel manufacturer for the Lenovo X1 Fold Gen 2. It can reach 600 nits of peak brightness.

For my money if I were interested in buying, would be the Lenovo X1 over the Asus 17 Fold. Better specs and features on the X1, plus the Lenovo X1 Fold is already in it's 2nd generation vs Asus 1st generation Fold and most importantly the Lenovo X1 Fold will be a lot cheaper than the Asus! My biggest drawback for both is not enough power for video editing and games which is why I bought a much cheaper and more powerful option than the 2 Foldable laptops, an Alienware M15 R7 Intel 12th Gen with Nvidia 3070ti graphics and I'm loving it!

Peak brightness means absolutely nothing. Both are 300-400 Nit SDR displays and neither are usable outdoors. Key difference is that Asus Fold gets much longer battery life (much bigger battery + low power CPU), whereas Lenovo Fold has the stylus feature not offered on the Asus.

Up to 32 GB RAM. Quite an upgrade over the laughable 8 GB max in the predecessor. That was the biggest deal breaker, even though nobody expects to do any kind of serious number crunching on such a low-power device. 8 GB is simply barely enough for a web browser these days.

You can buy a 17” laptop that weights the same, same config, for less. Ok, the folded footprint is smaller, but… I wish it was larger. Like 21” unfolded, 14” folded… it’s ok to carry 14”

30,000 fold standard is good. If you fold the device 8 times a day it will last 10 years. Not bad at all. Double the folds and you still have a foldable laptop that lasts 5 years. Most people will upgrade by then. Tech is changing so fast that I don't see anyone keeping tech longer than that.

(which i don't always need) Plus, i can fully close it and can stack with other document in bag with ease in mind. 2) as asus, close without keyboard seems pretty dangerous to stack and easier for dust on screen. The asus design looks like it is compulsory to bring keyboard everywhere which i don't really need.

The problem with this form factor is that a significant proportion of the target market (senior managers/executives) work for large entities (corporations, firms, governments etc.) that bulk buy their IT. Even if they had the desire and income to buy one of these, they can't just buy one - they have to get it through work, and work is only going to offer options from a pre-selected list. In today's economy, unless you are talking C suite executives, good luck convincing procurement/IT to sign off on making these available...

You've been there before @Lenovo, haven't You? - in T440 (WORST THINKPAD EVER) and You acknowledge that, so haptic buttons never come back in T series (we love You for it). But here You present same issue :( And then, nota bene Mr. "KEYBRD" is saying he need no keyboard!? Being unable to fold it up with the keyboard still inside is so fucking stupid. By being able to stow away the keyboard, it makes it easy to carry around and use it as a normal laptop, but then you can also turn it into a big screen with the keyboard as a separate thing. But now it's gonna be awkward to bring it around if you need to carry the device itself, and then the keyboard separately... Yea, a completely separate kickstand and keyboard... so fucking dumb.
