I recently aquired one of these for just 600 bucks and its been great, works really well with windows 11, the Face scanner is super fast and works great, the touchscreen is accurate and writing with a pen feels amazing. With a customized, decluttered windows 11 install the CPU is fast for what its designed, office and media, just right and really cool and power efficient, the keyboard is great, everything connects instantly when booting up and with a small USB C hub you got everything you need. 10/10 still the very best foldable across phones and laptops out there

Never even knew this thing existed. For people who are still feeling the Netbook fever from 12 years ago, or anyone who just wants something with a keyboard that's incredibly portable, this thing should be right up their alley.

Definitely the first device in a new promising category that will get much better with future gen products. Hats to Lenovo for making it, you have to start somewhere!

Picked up a piece at USD999 here in Singapore. Love its form factor and her ability to handle most basic operations adequately.

Waiting for the gen 2 version too, still using my X1 Fold with Windows 11. Works well. Just wish the touchscreen had better sensitivity when you use your finger or the stylus.

An extremely good review. Like really really good. An actual daily usage review. I would buy it day-0 if only the CPU was good enough for zoom + screen share + onenote writing. I don't think it is. I have to update only becuase my m3-7Y30 is incapable of daily computing. So getting another similar performance device as an upgrade would be ironic.

Here's a feature I'm curious about, on both this machine and on most others made--what other charging modes does it support? I got an HP Spectre Folio a couple of years back, and I found to my surprise that it can charge from almost any wall charger--even 5 volts at a single amp. While this only works while the machine is powered off, it is very much appreciated as a back up option, for example if I leave on vacation and forget to bring a Power Delivery brick that provides the usual 20 volts. When shut off, I wonder, does the X1 Fold allow to charge from any old wall wart, or is it PD only?

Nice review. Great concept, decent hardware, poor software: obituary of the PC industry. Couldn't help thinking Apple will come out with something similar ten years from now, called the MagicBook for twice the price and people will think they're such innovators.

It looks like its been a while since youve posted this video. Have you used this computer since and if so how has it held up? Maybe if possible you could do a video installing windows tiny 11 on it. I hear it makes this machine way more usable. I love these machines, I just bought the HP fold 16 for $3000.00. I know its stupid expensive and for the specs Im getting its garbage to say the least but I love these folding computers, they are so freaking awesome

It would be interesting to hear your opinions on the 2nd generation of this device. Also maybe on the Lenovo Yoga book 9i. I can see the attraction of these devices but the price is way too much for me especially when any new release (from any manufacturer) can make an older laptop appear like an expensive also ran.
@Dovecomputers

These type of laptops will always be niche products until the price comes down. IMO, if you were going to use your laptop for productivity I would much rather plug in an external monitor or two instead. Having said that I really enjoyed using the Lenovo Thinkbook Plus Gen 3 with Adobe Premiere Pro as it had an useful ultra wide primary screen and a smaller 2nd screen for the video clip library. I don't use my X1 Fold as the keyboard is poor, give me a sturdy laptop keyboard anytime.

That's a great long term review. Unfortunately this reminds me of another computer, which has aged incredibly poorly, the HP HP EliteBook 1030 G1. That Intel Core m7-6Y75 custom CPU is completely useless now, just 4 years after I purchased it. It is now a Linux only device. On paper, unfortunately, it seems the spiritual ancestor of the Intel® Core™ i5-L16G7 Processor. Lenovo has already dropped the entry level price on their website to $1749, which while high, is only $250 more than the entering price of its foldable phone, the Motorola Razr 5g 2020. I have one of these, which today has a street price of $800, and judging from what I could see from the video, the hinge technology appears nearly identical. So as bad as this product may be, Lenovo has distinguished itself as the most innovative hardware tech company out there, with Huawei taking a backseat. One more thing I forgot to mention, please write your Senator and Congressman, and ask them to outlaw 8GB of ram soldered on the motherboards, this should be a crime.

My phone shouldn't have 50% more RAM than my cyberpunk folding computer... It's a crime these companies can't shell out the few dollars for more RAM in production. The 2022 razers all have 16gb max soldered, even the $4000 17". Highway robbery...

is an external GPU possible to combine with this for better performance?
@Dovecomputers
@Dovecomputers 3 жыл бұрын
No. The two USB-C ports are not Thunderbolt 3/4 and as you can't get into the chassis easily so you can't use something like the ADT-Link M.2 EGPU bracket.

They say 25,000 folds before issues. I can't imagine folding this even ten times a day personally, it's not like a folding phone where you pull it out, open, and put back over and over. So at ten times a day, you're looking at probably 6 or 7 years.

To bad the screen is so low nits and only 60 Hz. Hopefully it's going to be brighter on the next gen. Given how powerful the new Asus rog tab is, this became outdated very quickly
