This is a review of the Lifetime Decoys decoy rigs and their jerk rig. I have used these products for a while now and I cannot be happier. They are tough and they work great. I love that the decoy rigs don't have line memory.

The Texas rig for decoys is the best invention since….decoys 😎👍

Great review and demo! I’m one of those old farts you alluded to who has been hunting for 300 years (not really, just 35) and jerk-stringed for 31 of those years. I’ve gone completely mechanized for ripples in the last few years (Duck Creek Decoy Flashbacks [made in USA/Colorado!], Battleship Swimmers, Frenzy Feeders, plus some butt wigglers), but if I were still in the jerk-rig game I would definitely go with that sucker!!

This is an interesting video. Your set up obviously works very well. There seems to be as many decoy line solutions as there are hunters.

Nice review Josh. I've been wanting to build a jerk rig and this might just be the answer... Thanks for sharing.

Good video. I make my own. Much cheaper and last as long as my decoys have so far. However....I'd definitely by them if I purchased rigs.

If you tie a thicker/heavier cord on the jerk-rig for the part you will be holding, you will like it better. A jerk-rig is a staple where we hunt, and you want as thick of a cord as you can get in your hand. A few have commented on using the thing you wrap the line on to pull with... problem with that is you keep dropping it in the water. Ideally you would attach that end to your blind and then pull the cord so you don't loose the end. On mine, I tie a loop in it thats easy to grab, then you can just feel for it while you are watching the ducks. Not sure if you can make a knot in the lifetime rig.

Check out Gerber decoy rigs they are just as nice as lifetime and are cheaper been using them at my rice blind and have had no issues. And I also have lifetime ones to with no issues to. Order a dozen and try them out this season.

Isn’t the handle not just for wrapping the line, but also for holding and jerking the line? Any reason that you jerk the line itself rather than holding it by the handle?
@OutdoorLimits

I just prefer pulling the line instead of the handle

I switched to the lifetime rigs last season and like them better than the cord and j anchors. I havent had much luck with jerk rigs the dog usually gets fouled up in them , going to try the battery ripplers next fall

I do like lifetime rigs but I’ve got some decoys on 72in lines for deeper water on the lake and they tangle up all the time.. usually only get tangles with the 72in ones though.

99% sure I'm going to switch all my floaters over to these rigs. I use Tanglefree and everytime I pull my decoys out, at least one person says "Tanglefree my ass" lol, love the company but the Texas rigs definitely tangle and are a pain in the ass sometimes.

@@OutdoorLimits can you take them off and just clip them to the jerk rig with the anchor at the end or do you need to leave them on each individual decoy

I switched a dozen of my duck decoys to texas rigs from the old J hook and wrap system, used them for one season and I've decided to switch back. I just don't really see the benefit other than being able to pick them up really quickly. Hauling them around they just get banged up and unorganized from not being in a bag. Plus one time I got a tangle and it took me forever to get it untangled so that was the last straw.

I throw my decoys on Texas rigs in a bag. I clip the carabiner to the string when I tighten the bag. It has worked out really well for me, so far.

Yeah I think the other problem with my setup is I got the extra long ones, like 6 feet or something when the vast majority of the time I'm throwing them out in less than 3 feet of water. Having the shorter ones would've kept it more organized.

@@OutdoorLimits I use gang rigs for my divers, it's really not terrible wrapping the keels. I have 15' on my mallards and 20' on my geese. I hunt river alot so it's really shallow by the bank then drops off to like 18ft Haha. Wish it was simpler!

Wrapping weights does suck but here we need 8oz weights or better and long lines we don't have the luxury of hunting shallow calm waters
