Esperance is my home town, and I miss it terribly. Before I left, I worked for The Esperance Express newspaper, and a scientist came to town to test the beach sand at both Lucky Bay and HellFire Bay (next door). So it's proven fact now, that the Whitsunday island isn't the whitest sand on the Earth, Esperance Lucky Bay is lol. In a few weeks time, all that seaweed will be gone, and the beach will be pristine again. The roos come down onto the beach because the rocks ooze fresh drinking water, which is the only fresh water for a 15km radius. Glad you enjoyed your visit

Oh I loved it and is definitely the whitest sands I have ever seen. The seaweed didn’t bother me too much I just don’t like walking through the piles of it as I sink 😂 but was still beautiful and hellfire bay was my absolute favourite ❤️

I love the deep blue sea, it looks almost tropical, I'd never guess this was the south coast of Western Australia. I live near a river that is an astonishingly beautiful deep blue colour, it's amazing. Did you know 'espérance' is French for 'hope'? I check where you're going on Google maps, and it turns out you were very near a Wiffy Beach! I wonder how it got its name? 😆😅

French sailors sheltered from a storm in the area in 1792 and their ship was called Espérance, so the area was named for their ship. Quite a few places in Australia have French names thanks to French ships being in the Southern Hemisphere and sailing around the land mass they found there.

Australia does have some truly beautiful beaches, my vote for the Best Beach in the World would be Vivonne Bay on Kangaroo Island in South Australia.
