Road warrior and A boy and his dog are the two movies that gave up the stereotype post apocalypse that we know and love.

A Boy And His Dog is a classic, and the end is brilliant! Love that film.

This is my favorite out of all of the Mad Max films. I love the look of it and the story is really good. It's kind of a Shane set in a post-apocalyptic landscape. It's the film that got me into post-apocalyptic media, and it has inspired how I dress for years. I am looking forward to Furiosa.

The idea of this film being dubbed with American accents is honestly a dagger in the heart to us Aussies haha. I really cannot imagine people in North America struggling to understand us too much. We're still speaking English, but the films do use a lot of local slang. I've got no idea if the dubbed versions are still in circulation in the US, or if the original audio is the most widely available.

I know the ones I watched were definitely not dubbed, I think nowadays the original versions are the ones you're gonna find most everywhere.

Mad Max is cult classic, can't be compared to anything. Those guys had never made a movie before. But it got them name recognition and more money for the Road Warrior, which is a great movie as well.

The thing this neophyte seems to be overlooking, is what is missing from the road warrior is the WHY Miller added a three minute opening narrative for people who have not seen the the former film, not to be a replacement for it. This is a story of the downfall of civilization, where peace is hunted down and destroyed, and good people have to do bad things. But yeah; focus on the shiny things if that’s all you need

I genuinely have no idea where you’re coming from with this comment. When did I say that I need shiny things? My main complaints were about the story and characters. I never said this was a replacement for the original film, just that it would be easy to start with this one for those who missed the original at the time.

@@BoxOfChocolatez where I’m coming from? Let’s start with the header to this piece ‘better than the first(?)’ You pretty much slam the original because it’s not full of neato action and violence, if they ‘missed the original’ You don’t give anyone an objective reason to even bother with it. No wonder Miller had to make a prequel of Furiousa; It’s the only way to get anyone to pay attention to character development anymore. Better is not a word for the ill-prepared

@haroldscotclark7394 Please point to where I slammed the original. I made a whole review for that original movie in which I praised many things about it and said that I recommend it! Just because I, and many other people, prefer The Road Warrior that isn't "slamming" the original. I still really don't know what's bothering you here.

This was the one where Mel gibson gets to really shine. His charisma really comes through, and Tom Hardy doesnt really do it for me. I go back and forth between this one and Fury Road.

It's hard to say which one was better. The second one, which I enjoyed more, couldn't have existed without the first one giving it context. They were from two different time periods (as far as the movies were concerned). I think an admirable job was done on both movies, with many memorable characters in both movies. The rest of the franchise sucked because...Hollywood.
