Thank you so much for addressing these sensitive subjects I appreciate your teaching very much. Even though this “activity” is not named a sin, in the Bible, it is clearly not “Holy” behavior and the Bible - the Lord God - commands us in 1Peter 1:15,16 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “be holy, for I am holy.“ In Hebrews 4:15 in the new king James version of “the Bible, I quote,”for we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. So, fight the good fight, believe God for the victory, I believe it is possible to have victory if you believe the Bible because in firs1 Corinthians 10:13, it states NKJV “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

Well, indirectly masturbation would be considered a sin because in order to masturbate you need to excite yourself, and in order to excite yourself, you need to picture yourself having sex with someone. So who here can claim that they have not lusted after someone, that is, has not fantasized or imagined that they are boinking someone? So... in effect when you masturbate you are lusting/ coveting someone, be it your neighbor's wife or a complete stranger.

Thanks David for tackling this common but hidden subject. I was raised in a guilt-based home by dry alcoholics and suffered greatly. As we don't have the latitude to forgive ourselves we also don't have the right to condemn ourselves. Through pray I was corrected by Our Lord saying if I (the Lord) don't bring it to your attention and clearly forbid a particular thing, you don't forbid it either. This is individualized, something that the "Holy Ghost fruit inspectors" and other self-righteous don't recognize. Christians have run amuck with "I'll add to my virtue and God will love me more than you", enter self-righteousness. Take it from me, berating yourself and beating yourself up is a grievous sin and there are plenty of people out there that will be more than happy to do it for you. Protect yourself from this and as Our Lord told the Church of Philadelphia, 'I know you don't have much strengthen, but hold onto what you have (self-dignity, real virtue) so that no man takes your crown ( of good works) Salvation can't be sinned away as I was taught. @jonibenj Sir, Just because masturbation isn't mentioned in the Bible doesn't mean it's okay to do it. Sexual relations are meant to be between one man and one woman who are married in the eyes of God. Anything outside of that holy gift God has blessed us with is sin and if we are the temple of the Holy Spirit then why would we defile the temple with our own hands. The Bible covers all boundaries of sin our evil hearts may think is okay when you look at the commands God has given us in a broader sense, masturbation falls under the sin of lust. I know I'm not talking about this from a Biblical perspective, so this may be wrong. But masturbation actually has benefits and can stop prostate cancer in men, as well as stop stress. If controlled, it can be very healthy. Porn is never healthy, as it always involves fornication and a lack of privacy. It takes away from the special bond that a married couple has. It also causes addiction and dependance that masturbation typically dosen't have.
@c.barrett51144 жыл бұрын
@@andyroobrick-a-brack9355 I do agree with what porn is so devastating but in my case my husband masturbated twice as much as he watches porn and just uses his imagination and I know I am not alone with so many being rejected by their spouses because they want to masturbate instead. Although there is some evidence of it helping men with prostate cancer and stress this are even more benefits when they come from the men having sex so there is no reason to masturbate when you can get the same benefits from sex and than there are no negative benefits like there is with masturbation. Masturbation can cause erectile dysfunction and some men get so used to the stimulation of masturbation than they prefer this to sex and this is becoming more common. I would have no problem going into further detail if you'd like about the negative effects masturbation itself has on the male mind and body that will negatively affect his future marriage and partner. But yes porn does definitely make it worse, it increases the imagination to focus on more sex, less healthy sex and can make masturbation more common which officially increases the negative consequences that come with it.

To believe that masturbation is inherently sinful is both to deny the sufficiency of Scripture and to insult God. It denies the sufficiency of Scripture because the Bible never says that it is a sin, and where there is no law there is no sin (see Romans 4: 15 and 5: 13). And it insults God because it implies that he lacked the wisdom, memory, or foresight to warn people against a certain class of sins. But what about lust? Doesn't the Bible say that's a sin? It does. If masturbation is accompanied by lust (and it frequently is), then I think that it becomes sinful. But masturbation without lust cannot possibly be a sin because the Bible contains no such prohibition. The problem is that most Christians do not have a clear understanding of what lust is, which makes them jump to conclusions about the sinfulness of masturbation (or lack thereof). Jesus said that "whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has committed adultery in his heart." (Matthew 5: 28) The word "adultery" here is key because it helps us understand how Jesus defined lust. Lust is not simply having sexual feelings toward another person, but a desire for adulterous behavior with them. As long as you are not fantasizing about something sinful when you masturbate, you have not committed lust and thus have not sinned. If you are fantasizing about adultery or other sexual sins, then masturbation becomes a sin. Plain and simple, no ifs, ands, or buts.
@kojikicklighter3714 жыл бұрын
Filling your mind with visions of the flesh is idolatry - if you can masturbate without fantasizing, then it might be ok. In gray areas of theology, best to play it safe and seek a higher level of sanctity. That said, when I go for weeks without release, I start waking up a lot with sexual dreams that seem almost more sinful than masturbating...so, I'm still equivocal on the subject🙄

It's just that you have to fantasize with your thoughts to do this. & We know that what we think on as a Christian is extremely important, seeing as how satan works alot thru our thoughts, & if we are 'meditating' on something sinful or something that would cause us to sin, we should cast that thought/thoughts down & bring every thought into the obedience of Christ. So what if a fantasy is imagining a homosexual scenario? Or an adultress scenario? or even stealing, or killing, or ????& We know that fantasies can get really vile & can be very contrary to the thoughts of God, if we let our minds go there. If it becomes 'a habit', it can become a real tough stronghold in our thoughts & become a real bondage that we can't seem to stop. IF, we are desiring to draw nearer & nearer to Almighty God, (to walk in the Light as HE is in the Light?) Our Heavenly Father, these things cannot stay in us! but if we are struggling with them, it can hinder us from knowing God in the way that our Spirit wants to. It can hold us back, & bring a deep regret & shame in us secretly, which equals torment. Since God is more concerned with what is going on in our hearts, than what is seen on the outside. God is a God of the Matters of the Heart of Man. In the Old Covenant, e could only deal with the people from the outside; but in the New Covenant, which is Jesus; The New & Living Way, Jesus brings it all into the thoughts & intents of the Heart.

One cannot lust after what one already has. An older godly man once told me that a man with memories has NO need to fantasize. That is the Biblical position. " We know that what we think on as a Christian is extremely important, seeing as how satan works alot thru our thoughts, & if we are 'meditating' on something sinful or something that would cause us to sin, we should cast that thought/thoughts down & bring every thought into the obedience of Christ." While the Bible does not explicitly mention masturbation, one might speculate that it does allude to it by placing sin about lust in close proximity to sin done with the hand: "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. @daughters_shall_prophesy69864 жыл бұрын
Your comment showcases how little you have read and understood the Bible. God specifically commanded Israel's kings NOT to "multiply wives to themselves." (Deuteronomy 17:17) Which just about every king went right ahead and did. Including King David, who was "after God's own heart" before he became king... But when he did the Bathsheba thing, he was so out of touch with God that He continued unrepentant for probably at least a full year, before he was confronted by prophet Nathan. He thought he got away scot free! David was pursuing God before he became king... but he became spiritually lukewarm there for awhile... while he was pursuing sexual lust. You can't serve both God and your own flesh. That's having two masters. If you're looking for all you can get away with, and still remain a Christian... sorry... you don't love God. And Jesus says if you don't love God, you aren't His follower at all.

@@daughters_shall_prophesy6986 I know it better than you; I have read the Bible cover to cover over roughly 15 years - however I do not read it anymore since I am not a Christian. I'm well aware what God said "Do not take to yourselves MANY wives"...notice he did not say "you may have only one wife". Having multiple wives back then was common. He said do not take MANY wives. It was also OK to also have concubines, and God was fine with that too. This is why I am stating that spending time on this subject is a joke - it's not about adultery or anything else. This guy has about 20 videos on this very subject - a little strange, it makes you wonder what he thinks about all day being a pastor (or whatever he says he is). You would think ONE video would be enough "Hey don't jerk off all day, you may be unable to stop...go find a hobby like bass fishing" or something like that. HOURS of videos on masturbation alone. Pastor weirdo with his little lessons. One thing about his adultery with Bathsheba (and the murder of her husband)...the penalty for both crimes in the law was DEATH. But God lets David also marry her. What a good guy God must be. He can go get a few more concubines too. Have a nice day DSP. If you don't want to be critiqued, don't upload videos on the Internet. SOMEBODY may comment on it.

In the days of Judah children were the only retirement plan for people that managed to grow old. Onan was ordered to impregnate his widowed sister in law (Tamar) and raise the offspring so that the young widow would be cared for later in her life. Genesis 38 is not just about sex. It's about Onan's refusal to take on social responsibility for his extended family. Onan died because he refused to spend his wealth on raising children that would not benefit him personally later in life.

Do you know what verse that is? I cant remember that one. Romans 12:1 Is masturbation presenting your body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God? No. Did Jesus do it. Certainly not! Did Paul (who was unmarried) Certainly not! The Spirit testified to my spirit that masturbation is far away from holiness. Confess it as sin. Repent of it. Ask the Lord to fill you with His Holy Spirit so that you will not want to do it!

Don't forget folks that we are told in the Bible to take care of our temple. Masturbation has many health benefits to it. Doctors say it relieves built-up stress, makes one sleep better, boost your mood, relaxes you, feeling of pleasure, relieves cramps, releases sexual tension, makes one have better sex, and makes one better understand your wants and needs. AND in men it is very helpful to exercise their prostate to keep down prostate enlargement and cancer. So, I think this lays out that this is something everyone should engage in to stay healthy if they don't have a partner to engage with. We need to stop being conned by man into thinking that everything we do is sin!!! Remember the Bible tells us not to believe any man, but to fact check him before believing. Recognize that thinking everything is a sin can cause one to be stressed out and unhealthy. Many churches are guilty of doing this to us for whatever reason - I don't know! That is my 2 cents. What is your's?
@Joni-vp6mp4 жыл бұрын
I love your answer - it is an angle I had forgotten, but it is very true. As always, it is the motive that makes an act wrong, which is the whole spirit of the New Testament that Christ brought in.
@clanchattan14 жыл бұрын
@@Joni-vp6mp It isn't motive so much as it is the law of YaH. YaH's whole attention is focused on the actual law, not what men think is the law. Actually, law is all that really matters! So, if we know a thing to be law, then we should honor and obey it. Man has a bad habit of making us think certain things are law for their own benefit. A good example of this is Polygamy. Certain men in power a long time ago needed for the people to think polygamy was against the law of YaH. However, their motive for this was 1. to brake down the strength of the family unit and 2. to disunite the people of this country. In this way they could control the country far better. If you will note, all that Christ talked about was what mattered under the law throughout His time on this earth. So, if it isn't law we do not have to be concerned with it no matter what men may say.

“How can a young man keep his way pure? By taking heed according to Your word.” Psalms 119:9 “God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives. Therefore, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.” 1 Thessalonians 4:7-8 “But I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.” Romans 7:23 “So if your eye-even your good eye -causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.” Matthew 5:29 “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans12: 1-2 “To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4: 22-24 So you see, we are instructed to be pure of heart & mind. Not to think as the world would think but as our new nature in Christ would have us to be sanctified, set apart taking our thoughts & actions captive and not giving in to the lusts of the flesh. Jesus warned that even if you looked at someone in lust & had impure thoughts about them you were committing adultery in your heart. Obviously, no physical touching was involved...just a THOUGHT! Masterbation is touching oneself while having IMPURE SEXUAL THOUGHTS about another person. That is why the Lord also said we needed to take our thoughts captive. Masturbation is a result of our thought life and the Lord has plenty to say about our thought life. You are misleading many by saying it’s ok. We are to be careful with our thought life because if one doesn’t take control of it we could easily act upon our impure impulses in real life. That is how many fall into the trap of fornication & adultry. They think about the act and then become comfortable playing it out in real life...you are giving dangerous advice. We must keep our thought life pure & crucify the flesh & its worldly desires. Take up your cross and follow after Jesus. I was also guilty of masturbation but when I became born again of the spirit of the living God I was convicted. The Lord also revealed to me that there are spirits of lust named Incubus and Succubus look them up. We do not war against flesh & blood but against principalities in the spirit realm. Guard your heart & thoughts & choose to live a holy life, least the enemy of your souls tempt you to sin against a Holy God.

This is interesting..... Because the way I was brought to light about Jesus was actually someone saying that masturbation is inviting demons into your life. And that sentence was a crack in my old life as an occult. It very quickly changed my course from occult to a christian. As I understand it, the bible isnt clear about a lot of things, but there are just some things you know in your heart when the Holy Spirit is living inside of you. For exsample I knew immediately that yoga was related to occultism, but I see a lot of people calling themselves christians practising yoga. But ask the question; what is masturbation? Isnt it sex? And the bible is clear that sex is to be inside a marriage. So sex is something holy between 2 people; it is not a single enjoyment practice. !. Corinthians 7:4 For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.

Jesus said, when the holy spirit comes, he will teach us in all the truth of God, whoever musterbates knows deep inside that they're being licentious and unclean (check out Galatians 5;19) am sure if we truly seek the truth, we don't have to hear His mention a sun, we just need the conviction of it One thing is true, whatever you can't openly do it reveal to others it's sin, No one properly sane can come out and tell people how wonderful is mustabation to them, they are always shy about it and leave in hiding meaning that it's ashame to them as well I speak truthfully because I used to mustabate alot, I struggled to break free, until I succumbed truly to the saving power and grace of God, no jokes, I pleaded his victory that has overcome the world over my life(1john 5:4) and I was amazed just how he snapped that vice and I was set free I can share more on this for any one struggling, there us away of victory, though you got a part to play

@@gordonhumbled I believe God knows the way he created the bodies of his creatures, so he knows exactly this feeling of sexual desire of his children that happens to everybody more in younger ages, less when older, so if he thought that sex is a disgusting dirty thing he would not allow the feeling of desire to even to exist. Instead the act leads to pregnancy and birth. So I believe in my own way, and I thing Christianity preachings are dangerous for the mental health of people. Staying lonely lifetime without partner, spouse and family is abnormal for the human nature and has devastating consequences of antisocial behaviour and worst of all depression and thoughts of suicide especially in younger ages.

It was wrong because he defrauded her, basically it's deceit or a big premeditated lie, not because his seed spilled on the ground. It's a selfish heart condition that God condemned as He is never pleased with deception. It's mostly because children are considered a blessing from God and he cheated her out of that blessing which disgraced her. That's my interpretion of that verse.

STUNNED by how many people think they know the Law better than God. Wine = Not a sin. Gluttonous wine leading to improper action = sin....NOT because of the wine but because of the gluttony. Likewise, masturbation = not a sin. Lust, lustful thoughts, gluttonous gratification = SIN, but Not because of the masturbation it could have stemmed from. Do you people think God would Sneak a sin in on you without telling you? God could have added masturbation to the Old Law with five words. Do you deny the Divinity of the scriptures or the soundness of mind of its Writer? Or that its Writer did not sufficiently know His own creation?

Also, Fornication and Adultery are not what most people think it is either. Both have to do with the mixing of the seed with other peoples of the world. Read, Esra 9 & 10 - both whole passages to get a better understanding of these two words.

There is no need to find a story in the Bible regarding masturbation. Look at Leviticus 15:16. It’s addressed right there. And the “penalty” is….. you need to take a bath. That’s it. No need to atone, no need to sacrifice a couple of doves or a lamb… just take a bath because you’re “unclean”. Hope that helps. God bless.

What is sexual immorality? Let’s be honest here! Masturbation and pornography falls under sexual immortality. Pornography isn’t in the Bible as well but we as believers consciously know it’s not right in the sight of God! Masturbation and pornography usually leads to addiction, amongst other things.

God is Absolute Good, no evil in Him at all.1 John 1:5 The world views things in relativity, as if God is relatively good and He will allow a little bit of darkness in His Kingdom...No sir, Im sorry but we need to think in absolutes like God if we have the mind of Christ. We need to really re-examine Gods Word and research, meaning to search again, if we let this world dictate how we live, than we wont have life in the end. We need to feed ourselves with the real Word of God not all the false doctrines that have been in the churches for ages, Acts 20:29-31.

You realize that your statement is exactly what the Pharisees would say? God is NOT nearly as legalistic as the neoPharisees today - God KNOWS we will sin, and mess up and loves us anyway - legalists have NO place for mercy - ONLY law - But Mercy always triumphs over justice in God's economy - and the Holy Spirit makes intercession for us that covers all our sins before God. James 2:13 "In essence, James 2:13 tells us that, since God will judge us with mercy, we should judge others with mercy. Being merciful is an act that shows our thankfulness for all God has done, and it is made possible through the Holy Spirit’s indwelling."

while its not the best of habits to have, sexual frustration is no joke. We are built that way...if sex wasnt so attractive there wouldnt be any people around now would there? We sin, whether saved or not...even that fleeting naughty thought is sin...it was all paid for by Jesus. To me its a very personal matter. Now I fell away for years..umpteen relationships with all the sex I wanted. I regret those wasted years. And no....dont fall away for that temptation. We are only human, and prone to urges. Like I said, dont get judged by anyone..although be wary of such habits, they can get out of control.

Not everyone has the same faith (cf. Romans 14). God can speak to you through that verse and it's crystal clear to you that it means masturbation is vanity. Even as a single person, God can speak to you that way. That doesn't mean his guidance is given to you to communicate his will about masturbation to everyone else. The answer to the question the video is asking can be sought and found by each one in his/her own relationship with God. He will surely point out anything that is possibly in the way of closeness to Him at any given point in their walk with Him. So, a person needs to focus on having a relationship with God or deepening his/her relationship with God. Then he/she will have his precise guidance, essentially making such videos as this one useless to anyone who is diligent to seek God's will. In any case, having an addiction to masturbation would be sinful. There would be a serious heart issue in such case. Masturbation would have been given a place that it should not have had in the person's heart. That's idolatry rather than something we would call "the sin of masturbation." I'm glad to see you bring up that verse in this discussion. 🙂 God bless you!

It is right to say that the bible never mentioned about masturbation but what do both men and women think while masturbating??? Do they not think of another person they have been desiring to make love to? Is that not spiritually like fornicating. (THESE ARE SIMPLY QUESTIONS TO EDUCATE MYSELF AND I AM NOT TRYING TO BE A SMART PERSON THERE). I would appreciate a reply
@yestothetruth3 жыл бұрын
You can find the answer to the question the video is asking in your own relationship with God. He will surely point out to you anything that is possibly in the way of closeness to Him, whether that's a wrong action or a wrong mindset. So, if you focus on having a relationship with God or deepening your relationship with God, then you will be able to seek his precise guidance on anything. Masturbation is a sin if you are choosing to do it to feed an addiction, when you know you should have resisted the urge and denied yourself instead (Luke 9:23), calling upon God for help to overcome the temptation as needed (Hebrews 4:15-16). It's sinful in any case of addiction because self-control is undermined. It's also sinful when it's something a person relies on to cope with any problems (e.g. loneliness). In that sense, it's an idol and takes the place of God because God would rather that person turn to Him in prayer for help about any challenges and experience receiving his help. That would be pleasing to God rather than to see the person become dependent on whatever temporary relief that masturbation or anything else people get addicted to may bring. Additionally, having sexual fantasies involving random people who are not one's spouse often -but not always- accompany masturbation, and with no love or faithfulness in the picture, that is the expression of an impure heart, which is sinful and hinders someone's relationship with God (James 4:7-8, Isaiah 59:1-2, 1 Peter 3:12). Heart purity matters to God (Matthew 5:8, Hebrews 12:14). In any case of a struggle with sin, God's grace will help you overcome sin and live a new life that is pleasing to Him (Titus 2:11-14). But it starts with repentance first, in the way that the Bible teaches it. Please see the videos in my playlist called _"Be Set Free From Sin"_ for help if you need. Take some time to understand well the way you need to approach God. Your obedience to God is the key to your deliverance from any sin that you are bound in (Hebrews 5:9). Peace to you!

Look, the Onan story certainly doesn’t sufficiently teach that it’s wrong, but the very fact that there’s so much question and discussion over this topic might show that the answer is simple. Paul says in Romans that the law is written in our hearts, and I think we all know deep down that there’s really no way to masturbate for the glory of God. I mean, just listen to how that phrase sounds.
