Is MHUPGRADE worth the hassle? A Malaysia Airlines Business Class Trip Report - MH146

We've always wondered if Malaysia Airline's MHUpgrade is ever worth it. We always wondered if we would ever get a seat upgrade by just offering the Minimum Fair Offer to Malaysia Airlines. Incredibly, and perhaps due to the fear of COVID-19 and the lack of people flying these days, our very low offer was accepted, and we were upgraded to Malaysia Airlines Business Class on MH146, flying from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur.
But it is without some hassle... but we do hope Malaysia Airlines will sort out these silly bugs in their reservation system as it's not terribly fun trying to argue with the ground staff about luggage allowance.

Well last November I took MAB’s A350 to London Heathrow for a holiday.Service was superb,they asked me if I had everything I needed and they showed their best on the 13 hour flight.Really grateful for having such a nice set of crew to take care of me.Hope to fly with them soon!

I've always been a VERY frequent flyer with MH. No complaints. I've been very lucky because I've read all these horror stories but none of them seems to have happened to me. Love you TR! Subscribed!

I love MAS and have done this flight four times with them from MELBOURNE TO KL and return. !! Agree about the Qantas lounge...its like being in a dungeon but the food and drinks are pretty good !!

I've utilised the MHUpgrade before, and they tend to prioritise the full-fare paying passengers when it comes to meal orders hence my order was taken last (even though I was seated at 1K). Fortunately my choice of meal was still available. Sad to see that amenity kits are no longer provided, as I'm really fond of collecting them. However can't beat the value of paying a lil bit more for an upgrade and getting various of perks along. Oh and your video is awesome! Keep it up.

from Hong Kong here, I am a Gold enrich member, I support MH a lot and try to fly with them whenever I can, mostly to KL, Jakarta, Bali and various cities of Australia. Over the years some of the crew have become personal friends as i frequently run into them. I cannot imagine what would it be like if Malaysia loses this national airlines?! Right now, i won't be able to fly with them until at least last September when border opens again.

@@JeremyToh hi Jeremy, likewise! My status expires next year in March, I am not sure if they'd extend it for us? I have to catch up on 50K miles from September (that's if it's ok), maybe I need to write to MH to appeal for more time....

We collect Qantas Points when flying MH, and for Qantas, if your Yearly Benefits are about the expire in March 2020, they are extended by 1 year, which is pretty generous. They did it automatically because of the Nationwide lockdown. Most airlines are offering it, but I am not sure about MH. Unfortunately our benefits did not expire in March, and I think we will be doing the same thing as you and call in to ask for an extension. Let us know how you go. Good luck.🤞

@@JeremyToh with MH, they didn't offer that, I had enough Mike's before March for extension so there was no problem. But I worry for the next year, I have not been able to fly at all. U know well that status points must only be earned by flying, not dining or shopping etc. Singapore airlines did extend one year automatically for all guests like Qantas did.

Thanks for tuning in. MH was great back when I was a little kid, I could recall when every Uncle and Aunty had MH cutlery in their kitchen and some even took their blankets. All very high quality of course, even for economy seats. Yes! Absolutely yes for the Japan videos. Those memories are just a bit dearer to me, so I want to make sure I do a good job in sharing them. Plus there’s this main camera that recorded all out dialogues and sign-in/sign-out of our videos, it wasn’t recording Audio for the last 11 days!!! 😓 I will pepper the release of the Japan videos in between a couple more Samsung S20 Ultra videos and a Tammathy’s Covid-19 self-isolation video. 😂😂😂 Hope you too are staying safe. We did LHR to KUL back in Feb/Mar to see my inlaws in Kuching Sarawak, after a bad experience usin BA the previous October we decided to flay malaysia Airlines. So glad we did, Cabin crew were far superior to BA and were more attentive throughout the flights. Every single aspect from check in to leaving the airport was better.

@@JeremyToh I think we would have been safer ourselves staying in Kuching, they have handled the pandemic far better than the UK government have. Yes all inlaws are safe and well and following government guidlines fully. Thanks for asking. When it is safe to visit again I was thinking of trying for the business class upgrade. has to be worth a try. We don't mind if we do not get the extra luggage, we always travel light.But the lounges and service onboard are worth it. I notice you use the old term "MAS", I also use this, it's hard to change, MAB just doesn't sound right.

I have used MH Upgrade in the past...not very expensive...good value for money only on the domestic sector have had to make do with just some cookies as they didn't have any vegetarian or Vegan options....

Satay service is still there, just they don’t serve it with rice cakes (ketupat) any more. Just a minor complaint from a person that loves Ketupat. 😂
