@@penultimatename6677 I don't think it's garbage, but I think they should deliver something way more polished for that price point. If Microsoft released their products a bit cheaper and going higher on the price as they released better polished products. They wouldn't have so many critics. @@marcellodepaula4749 appreciate your thoughtful response. My only comment to add. If your comment is based on this review it is not accurate. There are many positive/negative reviews for any product. I know you can find many reviews of the Duo 2 that have critical comments but also very positive. The review on this site is troubling because it is false in many ways and dismissive for an audience with very little to no contact with the device. Not giving a fair review means many won't check it out. Which I believe is the intention of this review. No matter the reviews I have the Duo 2 and I love it.

You can blame the crowd that complained about picture quality in the first one. Which was fine. Like I was going to take a photo and expect people to say it was amazing on the original Duo, but it looked okay and was pretty clear. If I had to grade it, it ass a solid C. From what I've heard from people who own it, it feels all right with it set to single screen. They had to make it thicker for two reasons, one was the batter and second is the USB ports would just break in the first one. Never had a phone do that before. I'm still using a Duo 1 and i feel it's a good phone still with the occasional glitch. There are some features I wish I had from the newer one, like the light bar and ability to charge the pen.. Just not worth $1500 for me to spend on. Maybe if it drops to $400 like the original Duo I'll upgrade.

The skin is like half a percent better than what I could have gotten from Wish for 99 cents. The case is about 2% better than the onn case I got from Walmart for $6. I basically paid $40 for junk that's about 2.5% better than what I could have paid $7-$8 for. Let's see if this comment gets deleted like my other 3 comments on Dbrand in the past week.

"Wow, the confidence." That's not confidence, that's brand's pride, Surface's brand needs to be heavy overpriced for what they're giving you, regardless if it is good or not. They'll also make commercials about having better starting prices than the competition, regardless if their entry level is a gen old i3 with a lot less performance than said competition at starting price. Just look at them releasing Tiger Lake and Snapdragon 888 options at the end of their lifespan before new chips come, as if they couldn't just wait a few weeks, use a new processor and extend their appeal? It's like they weren't working with Intel to make Alder Lake a thing, or like they didn't have confidence in their job there. But it's definitely true they don't care about the product's appeal from a specs standpoint.

I bought a surface laptop 1 before I knew anything about computers. Now that I'm a computer hobbyist, the i5-7200U and 8gb ram appall me for the price of the thing... somewhere in the realm of $1200 if I recall. The integrated graphics struggle to run even some webpage 3d, and the *dual core* CPU is very weak. Not to mention that it's so poorly cooled it can't even sustain 70% load without throttling down. It's a well-built machine in terms of feel, weight, and portability, but it just isn't worth paying that much for such terrible specs.

@@W0Rd0n32sTre3T Flagships normally release close to the processor release, plus the whole Surface line this time has been delayed by a lot, and again consider they were the first in line testing Alder Lake. Releasing now just seems lazy to me, all things considered, like they were working on these as a side project with no worth and were obliged to release them now before the next chips dropped because they never even thought of going for them. I was also pointing how they like to market "Pro/premium" devices with entry level specs. This may have one of the best processors right now... for a few days... but the price is comparable to actual foldable phones with better specs and higher production costs justifying their price, while this does not. The competition at the same price points is almost always better, and by a lot in some cases, that's lazy to me, topping it off with now releasing products a year late to the party before new ones arrive.

@G.Padilla 3 жыл бұрын
@@W0Rd0n32sTre3T I'm calling it lazy, along with the whole Surface line, processor here is perfectly fine compared to 2.5k Surface Studio giving you the low end i7 mobile while say the Galaxy Book gives you the high end i7 at even less than the Surface's Studio starting price, with the full upgrades to memory and storage and much better tech EMR S-pen included in the price, but phone still falls within the Surface's overpricing and lazy speccing all around. As for Samsung's example, ignoring Note had its own niche, top of the line quality overall, S-pen included, definitely not needing to appeal an audience unlike this one, and it's now (probably) sadly dead, say Galaxy Tab S8 should've released around August with a SD888, but Samsung pushed it to early next year for a SD898 or hopefully a Radeon Exynos so, it can be done, and it is being done, yet Microsoft chooses not to compete regardless of how many heads up they get from the competition while they're late to the party, not even in price nor specs within the same generation.

Using a custom launcher made me feel like I was discovering smart phones for the first time again, and the "dual monitor" aspect makes tasks like going through a *forget password* feel like a breeze. It's also reinvigorated my love for emulating games (gba lol). I'm waiting on the pen case (super rare now) and I'll finally have a full successor to my old note 9 (which I know Linus loved!). I must admit being a new duo 2 user I amazed how many bad reviews there are out in youtube.... I think the problem here is people open it up and dont change any of the touch settings or take time to look up which areas of the screen you should be swiping from. Take the youtube demo he shown... dark narrow video with portrait style.... if he had opened the phone in landscape mode and shown something colourful it would of been a wow factor. Everyone who has seen my phone has been wowed by that simple demo. Still I guess if people dont invest a little time getting to know how a new style of device works that what you get...

The Surface Duo 2 is a fantastic phone. For sure nothing is perfect but this is a dumb review. Movements and other actions are accentuated to fail. Same can be done with any phone. Even when he likes a feature he finds a reason to criticize. You owe this phone a fair review. For those that don't like and want to see any Microsoft phone to fail will confirm their biases from this video. I understand some of it is supposed to be humor but it will not be seen that way. The Duo is a great phone. FYI - there is a Microsoft launcher but there is only one flavor of Android. There is not a Microsoft version of Android. Which means the intention was to make the phone look bad or he has zero understanding of Android. The Android and Duo phone users know this demo is denigrating Android and Microsoft on purpose. A fair review can show issues with the phone. Nothing is perfect and for sure this phone has its issues. But overall it is a great phone and can proudly stand beside any Android or iPhone.
