The general public just always think “like a consumer” and buys whatever a company sells them without thinking. By that I mean they don’t actually think past the surface (or outside the box), meaning they seem more close minded and therefore that’s where the doom posting happens. Before the video, my thoughts were “Her kit might be like this now due to future characters that could actually benefit from Mizuki kit over Sucrose” and then TGS says something similar to my thoughts. Most other Content Creators just upright call Mizuki trash without having a more open minded view towards why her kit is this way. I dislike Mizuki btw, so I’m not coping for her, I just don’t like how ppl just outright call her trash (which she will most likely be cause she still is a standard banner character) without thinking on maybe ‘why’ Hoyo made her kit this way.

One of her best supports is c6 Diona. If you're using Furina with Mizuki, you want to trigger the overheal threshold to get Furina's a1 passive going. Throw in Ororon or Shinobu and you're swirling all the elements she wants to swirl for over 30k dps.

There is superconduct, but also electrocharge and two different types of swirl (hydro swirls don't do damage), all of which scales on EM. But you could also Diona with Nahida, use Ororon for non-AoE electro app, and swirl electro to trigger hyperbloom. That could also be fun.

Interesting. I honestly thought she was even worse than what you described, but I guess thanks to you I can now kind of understand what her concept is. I just hope they either adjust her mechanics to make her less restricted, or buff her base kit to make up for these restrictions, or buff her cons (so that, just like Dehya, she becomes better over time as you naturally lose 50/50s to her). And as you said, perhaps future units will have good synergy with her - it's definitely likely, but "likely" doesnt mean that it's "guaranteed"

That's not to mention swirl struggle to do damage to enemies like elemental slimes. And an AoE focused characters benefits greatly from grouping. Every Abyss is demanding both single-target and AoE in both sides. If for some reason, there's one side focused on AoE, Kazuha and Sucrose should do really well, and they're also much more flexible. Being tied to Furina is a huge downside, because pretty every team in the game wants Furina. I'm honestly not even sure how to fix this character. Without grouping and without a way for single-target damage, it really seems like a non-starter.

The fact that the same characters that you want in all teams don't work with her isn't necessarily a bad thing. I despise the current "meta" or "trend" of Bennet, Furina etc always being mentioned as the best picks for a team... It's too boring.

@@cHowaito I invested quite a bit in Neuvillette which ends up pairing with Furina quite a bit. Any new character that *needs* Furina is competing directly with Neuvillette in my account. Since I've funneled so many resources in Neuvillette already, in effect, I would be heavily incentivized to leave the new character in the bench. So yeah, for my account in specific, overreliance on Furina is absolutely a deal breaker. Chasca was an easy skip for me for this exact reason. The only reliable off-field hydro app turret in the game is Furina. And since Swirl teams are pretty much always swirling on top of Electro-Charged, Furina is a must for Mizuki. As a matter of building an efficient rooster, you want teams and characters that complement each other. The argument that a 5 star character is still good, you just need to wish for constellations to fix it, is laughable. Now, I don't think every character HoyoV launches needs to be a banger. And this is a standard banner character after all. And Swirl is a strong mechanic where applicable (although Kazuha and Sucrose are a stiff competition). However, from the design decisions behind Mizuki in her current form, she's an automatic skip to any players in the very late game. She is both a very restrictive character and one that doesn’t excel in any niche. The main problem is indeed that Abyss is the only truly difficult content in the game, and they have been punishing AoE-only teams pretty badly for a while now. This fact doesn't hurt just Mizuki, but Sucrose as well, and it's the reason Sucrose-Taser teams are no longer popular.

I wonder what the ideal partner character would be for her if one was to release? My idea was elemental mastery (EM) scaling Hydro support that has coordinated AoE attacks on their skill with better than standard cooldown application, and a burst that has a party EM buff. (As an Albedo user, I know I'm describing a second Albedo powercreep.) I can see such a unit happening given Citlali and Lan Yan also have EM scaling: feels like Hoyo may be cooking some full EM teams that aren't based on bloom cores. Such a unit would make you want to use Mizuki over Sucrose or Heizou. It would also be the best in slot Hydro unit for Nilou teams because none of the other Hydro units really want you to build EM.

I personally see Mizuki in her current state as a Low Tier character (D). I do appreciate that Hoyoverse is trying experiment, and being a rumoured Standard 5* character means she won't have to directly compete with the strong Natlan characters that have been coming out as Limited 5*. However, the fact that she has a limited set of teammates for her teams compared to Sucrose and others is really limiting. Players will lilely be tapped out of Primogems after 5.3, so not a real big loss for Hoyo in 5.4.

@nationalgeografic7687 The issue with Dehya is that she plays a prominent part in Sumeru Archon quests before her release (so players were getting an emotional attachment to her), so when she was released as a playable character folks got upset. Mizuki is a character that is getting introduced for the first time in 5.4. As a "filler" character with no real involvement in the storyline, I don't think players will care as much if Mizuki is mediocre. I assume most players are going to skip pulling on 5.4 all together because of what we have right now in 5.3.

I've seen her constellations and to me she feels like another Dehya situation all over again. Dehya was doomed at the start because she couldn't work with XQ and Yelan even if she seemed to have good constellations, which is kinda like what's happening to Mizuki rn. I just hope she gets buffed more though! I really like her design and frankly I'm interested to see her full potential once she releases. I'm definitely going to pull for the 5.4 weapon banner since I wouldn't want to miss out on the signatures available on that patch 😅

Not sure what people are expecting for a character purportedly designed to go on the same permanent banner as dehya and qiqi. Even if all she is is 5* Sucrose (what is Kazuha now then, 6* Sucrose?), she will still fit in that traditional "better than a 4*, not quite a 5*" role that most standard characters do. I don't see a problem with this, seems about right. My only complaint is that my anemo gems are suffering right now - 3 new anemo characters in 3 patches is rough.

I mean, as it stands, Sucrose is closer to being a 5 star. At least until you get her some cons, which is going to rely on pure chance with 50/50 loses. At base, she is only better at specific aoe content, maybe, as she cannot trigger as many swirls due to not being able to attack. It doesn't help her restrictions remove a ton of the best characters for soup and taser teams.
