@dazeddee8485 If you hired someone to remove and haul away all the rocks around my house to replace them, it would cost far more than what s bottle of glue costs. Before you "call bs" perhaps actually know what you are talking about 😂
@TheLawnLover
@TheLawnLover 2 ай бұрын
@dazeddee8485 I was quoted $2k to remove all of the lava rock and haul it away. I only sprayed the high traffic areas and borders on the rocks, not everything as I mentioned in the video. $2k compared to less than $100 to fix the issue is a no brainer imo. So clearly, you have no clue 😂

This was very informative. I am at my wit's ends not knowing what to do. I've been intrigued by this"bark glue" I just heard about, but glad to hear about the "cons" you experienced. We live in the Western USA, Rocky Mountains higher-elevation [5000 ft]. My southern-facing rose bushes get VERY hot in the summer and plenty of ice and snow in the winter. Our neighborhood sits near the mouth of a large mountain canyon and we seem to be on a direct flight path of those canyon winds. The breeze is steady year-round, and then we experience at least 2 [or more] BIG wind storms every spring and fall [anywhere betwen 40-55+ mph]. As you can imagine, this does a doozy on our landscaping. Even the continual "breeze" is an issue. The landscaping crew has kept putting down shredded bark around the bushes each spring, that looks great for a handful of days [or hours] then begins to blow into the sidewalks and driveway, down the street, into the grass ... and making its way into the community pool ... it goes everywhere except where it is supposed to be! Nightmare. I told them to stop putting it down. Now we have ugly bare dirt with exposed drip lines, and I am constantly weeding. I just want to make certain I make the right choice for what to use. Should we do rock? What kind, what size? Do I need to put a weed barrier down before I use rocks [would cut out around my rose bushes and ornamental grass ... will they be okay? Or, just put river rock down without a barrier? Should we do a larger, heavier type of bark? With or without a weed barrier? And, how do we keep that from blowing away?! Will this "glue" do the trick in our situation?! Or, would I just need to constantly need to re-apply the expensive glue? ... I still don't know what to do, but it was helpful to see your expert review and become aware of the issues that you encountered, esp. the white discoloration in rain storms. If you or anyone else have any ideas for me, it would be appreciated. Gotta do something this spring.
@TheLawnLover
@TheLawnLover 8 ай бұрын
Wow, that is frustrating fore sure! I would definitely go with a larger grade river rock with a weed barrier underneath it. The weed barrier will help prevent the weeds and the larger rocks will ensure the wind doesn't wreak havoc on your landscaping anymore. Thanks for watching and good luck!

Some water based concrete sealers can turn white when wet and did you protect existing concrete from the mulch glue . And will it alter the color of your existing concrete.
@TheLawnLover
@TheLawnLover 2 ай бұрын
This mulch glue had no impact on the concrete, only on the rocks. I will say that I tested their new rock glue this season and it did not turn a weird color on the rocks when it got wet. So they seemed to have solved that issue. Thanks for watching!

I am interested in using this with gravel that is a mixture of .5' and 1.5". What is the size of your lava rocks? It looks bigger than the gravel I use so I am hoping this would work better with what I use.
@TheLawnLover
@TheLawnLover 7 ай бұрын
I think that the issue with the lava rock is that it was porous - which prevented the glue from holding it together. It worked well since then on some river rock that I have around the house and I have talked to others who have said it works fantastic on pea gravel. Petra did advise that they are planning to release a specially formulated rock glue, but I am not sure when they plan to start selling it.

Most of this asphalt has washed away. If I were to put pea gravel, etc in this section, would either of these products keep the gravel in place as i drive in and out? Thnx!!

I'm sure they will still try to dig, you would probably have to put a few applications on to make it stronger I would imagine. If they work at it, they would likely still be able to get through with their claws I would think. Thanks for watching!
