Trim the vent feathers from both old birds. That’ll help. Old birds don’t have a lot of balance, so when they top the hens they might miss. Clearing the vent will help. A wide open space like that will help them get strong and eventually you’ll get fertilized eggs. Good luck.

Good Evening Jordan. great look round. Everything looks fine. We hope all goes well with the egg swapping for the pigeons. Can't wait for you to build a young bird loft for the racers you hatch or do one of the lofts up for the young birds. No sign of the mystery animals/birds yet. Champs lady shall be called, Cleopatra. So J , you could always take one egg from the racers and leave one . The single squab will get all the food and if you do multiple nests you could foster two eggs under the rollers/ ferals.

Jorden the best way to see is looking at the tail you pull the tail straight out and if the vent is passed the shell it’s a male if not it’s a female

If Champs' eggs don't pan out separate him and his hen in a smaller cage. Give them high quality food (lots of peas etc) and grit. Worked for me on a old hen I got from a cheap ass that would not take care of his birds. She was a nice silver that would screw but not lay. I really wanted chicks from her. I ended up getting 3 sets of chicks before she died the next winter. Could not handle the cold in her old age. Champ is a great looking bird......that hen is a beauty also....great pair. If your birds do not get out to peck grit you have to supply them with grit or they will be sickly.

Jordan if you are swapping eggs are they the same age as the one you are taking? They need to be a couple of days of each other or they will be abandoned around day 18. I have seen some leave a nest if mice are present. Also confine the nest like make a foot square box. They like to be isolated and it keeps the eggs up off the ground. If the egg sloshes when you shake it it is dead. Three basic colors ash red, brown and blue. Most of them look like ash red bar or checks. Blue bars or checks and the same with blacks. Feed a basic vitamin electrolyte about 4 bucks at a vet supply, get them on oyster shell, salt and grit. That might jump start "Champ". I like your enthusiasm about your birds. Note if you have rats get those boxes off the ground they will kill your babies as well as snakes.

If you can get tobacco stalks instead of pine needles, they are a natural bug repellent it keeps lice off your nests, and swapping eggs with Pigeons isn't like chicken eggs they have to be a day or two between the eggs , Pigeons time there eggs and produce milk in their crop, if the eggs hatch too early the parents won't have the food to feed the baby's

You need to know how many days those eggs are apart. Pigeon know when their egg suppose to hatch and they will not incubate them if they 2-4 days apart. Its okay if the egg hatch early but not late from the original eggs

try to condition the champ dude, separate it from all the birds. put it on a solo cage instead of that community breeding setup. solo conditioning for a week or so with vitamins and especially vitamin E for pigeons. solo breed the champ ! I hope this works.
