I feel fairly confident about my craft: I was asked to collaborate with a few author friends in some installments of a compilation series of short stories; however, a more applicable question for me is: am I publishable? What I mean is that I absolutely loathe social media, and have almost zero online footprint. From my research, it seems that publishing deals also hinge on the social presence or established following of an author. Does this mean that I need to spend time building up an online following before I attempt to submit?

No, you don't NEED to but it will definitely help a lot. It just goes to show, however, that publishers are becoming lazier and lazier. The whole reason they want an author with an established social media presence I'd because their books are way easier to market, and they can get more book sales faster. When you think about it though, the whole readim publishers exist is to quite literally help authors MARKET their books. We aren't supposed to do it ourselves.

I ‘self published’ my book Banished To Earth, through PublishAmerica in 2004. It was in dire need of deep edit. I love the story but it was not clean enough to be published. I’m rewriting it now. It’s about a young man was really an alien but doesn’t know it, only that his childhood was filled visions scary and wonderful. Just wondering if this premise is too vague and bizarre. It’s a Sci fi fantasy adventure horror love story, so probably too many angles and threads.

i have a question: if a book can be made into a movie, can links to movies be placed in your book? why not? but will this be a , like, just, "what is this guy ON." type response from the goons at publishing houses..? have not met anyone who does not like my latest tales- and if they thought not their 'bag', they still commented, "it's still, "Salinger with a twist." i just love writing..as much as this band loves L.A.! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIOZn2VplMt_adEfeature=shared Starcrawler 'i love L.A.'

I have a question: So, with the whole censorship thing social media is heading towards, is it okay to have gory details described in your book even if it's a fantasy novel? Like, detailed descriptions.

@@dragonheart9400 books like that published years ago weren't so pressed about regarding the details but today, even the word "inmate" is censored for whatever reason🤦

Yes, of course. See ACOTAR, Haunting Adeline, and The Seprent and the Wings of Night for examples.

😂😂😂 If at first you don't succeed, try again. Fall down, get up. Try again. Don't give up. Also, walk away from your computers and phone and get out there in real life and experience it. Phones and computers aren't human contact. We're slowly losing our humanity.
