Everything is predestined. And nothing but a sincere du'a (supplication) can change ones qadr. This is where freewill comes in. Du'a. We human beings are the best creation of Allah because we were made with hearts to feel and minds to think. And since we do not know what the future holds, freewill is making that one single du'a asking Allah that even if everything is already written, to change our qadr write for us Jannah if it wasn't written for us. We must like it so much. We must have intense craving for Jannah. Then if we ask Allah, Allah will start to give. Give what? Guidance. For Allah guides whom He wills and lead astray whom He wills. That is why Allah does not like the arrogant people. Those who think they are too good for making du'a or those who has lost hope with the Mercy of Allah. May we be of those who are guided. Ameen.

Yes. Our life is predestined. We are traveling through a timeline of events written by Him. If we are predestined for something bad, Allah can change it for good. He can change our future timeline of events. That's possible only through prayer.

Later on I realized that if our Creator did not know our future then He will not be All-knowing. This is a crucial attribute of the Creator. The first thing she used to do when she came to my house was to run to the staircase and climbed up the stairs and I had to follow her lest she fell down the stairs. So as an elderly person I knew her habits. Then I realized that the fact that I knew what she was going to do does not mean that I instigated her to go up the staircase. So my knowledge did not have anything with her actions which were motivated by her own volition. Then I realized that similarly the Creator's knowledge is not the motivator of our actions. He has given us freewill yet He knows what we will do since He is all knowing. So my granddaughter taught me one of the most complex mystery of life.

Does it mean that Allah has written our destiny but he has also given us the wisdom and means of guidance to know right and wrong and the understanding of our lives , understanding of ourselves, our motives, our needs and wants and by using this understanding ,we make Dua for a better life and our destiny can change. Destiny is written but knowledge is also given to choose or make Dua to change the destiny. So Dua and ability to choose under the light of Allah's knowledge is the free will? May be that's why islam put so much emphasis on acquiring knowledge.

@Creative.Pursuit10 жыл бұрын
Problem 1 - Speaker said that the part of the angel's job was to write down if the person is doomed and/or what they will do and how their life will be. And soon after says that there is a annual decree on the day of lalitul qadr. Allah wills while the baby is a fetus and then wills again annually once the fetus is living outside. These two do not mix. Problem 2 - If dua can change qadr then what is to say that the dua was not already part of the qadr? Or if whatever changes was already part of qadr. And if Allah knows then why was it not originally written? Problem 3- It was mentioned that Allah decides and controls our actions. And that our will is secondary to Allah. The example that wars occur if Allah wills was given .And the example of one being wished to be guided. If one wishes to be guided and Allah wills that the person should not be guided then what can the person do since his or her will is secondary to Allah's? Problem 4- In the example of the person reading the book, if Allah wills that the person never finds the book then how is the person at fault? And if Allahs knows the future then Allah knows if we will turn to him at any point or not or if we will make dua or not then where is the test? When a test is given the results are not yet known and once the results are known actions are taken accordingly but in our case since Allah already knows our future and whether we will be pious or whether some will repent he has decided whether we will fail or pass even if we wish to pass. So Allah can take action anything then since he already knows. Problem 5- Whether the person knew about his or her qadr when it came to stealing, that doesn't change the fact that Allah willed him to steal since the speaker said that the person found out that the act of theft was in qadr after the person did it. Problem 6- When bad things happen we mourn at it and we do things to fix and help meaning we clearly don't agree with what is being taken place, in other words we clearly do not agree with what Allah is willing. If someone gets shot and Allah has willed for him to die we will still help, but the thing is we do not know the qadr or the result. So in the same scenario if Allah had willed for the same person to die and another person did not attempt to help the person by treating him in any manner rather just made dua isnt that also the will of Allah? - I do however agree that humans will possibly put the blame on else or try to be it whoever or anything and keep the thanks for themselves. - And i agree that sins have wisdom, but when i see destruction all around the world such as that of palestine currently i do not know what is that possibly for but i try, as hard as it is at times, that Allah knows and that my knowledge is limited. -If there is one thing i learned through thinking during and after the video is that if actions are predetermined then what we are simply being judged on are our reactions and our response to those actions even if we cant change them since they are decreed by Allah.

I'm hoping someone can clarify 13:29 - 13:45 for me. He says that Allah Willed for us to have a will and that our will is the product of the Will of Allah as well as secondary to the Will of Allah. I take this to mean that Allah had Willed for us the ability to choose between options whenever options are presented to us...but that we can't choose an option if Allah does not Will for us to choose it (since our will is always secondary to the Will of Allah). If I have the choice between chocolate and vanilla ice cream, I can't pick the option that Allah did not Will for me to pick, even if Allah Willed that I have the ability to choose. Why then, are we *uniquely* responsible for our choices if our choices can't possibly be uniquely ours? I feel like that wasn't properly addressed here. Thanks!
@adnankassem8114 Жыл бұрын
I think part of it is there are some things you can't just do even if you will it. For example I lift my left leg, then I have a desire to also lift my right leg I cannot. So the things that you can actually will are of limited scope. In your example, you do choose what you want. But Allah knew your choice before hand, wrote it in the tablet, willed for it to happen, and created the actions for you. At a fundamental level this is realated to the will, power, and knowledge of Allah. We cannot know the true modality of these attributes. So there will always be an element of belief in the ghayb. And Allah knows best
@jaredgreenhouse6603 Жыл бұрын
@@adnankassem8114 I don't think we can know the "true modality" because no cogent description of it exists. When you said "but Allah knew your choice beforehand..." you presented a reality where my "choice" somehow exists irrespective of Allah. I don't know how anything can exist like that
@jaredgreenhouse6603 Жыл бұрын
@@shahinoorchowdhury2007 It's one thing to say that angels over your left and right shoulders are matters of the "unseen," because that will eventually be verifiable. But I don't see how you can apply the "unseen" argument here, since it's logically impossible for a cogent answer to exist. God must, at some point, be ultimately responsible for actualizing the decisions we make. It's logically impossible to reconcile that with us still being held morally accountable for our actions. The only way around it is for our actions to somehow exist irrespective of God, but I don't see how that's possible either.
@ShehuStebe Жыл бұрын
@@jaredgreenhouse6603 this is because the modality of this choice is not known to us. Is Allah not capable of differing choices and allowing his creation to choose one? An example, a teacher creates a multiple choice question with only one correct answer knowing that students might be tempted or actually do choose from the incorrect options. Is the teacher to blame in this scenario? Although, this analogy cannot be wholly applied to god, this specific issue can be discussed in this way.
@jaredgreenhouse6603 Жыл бұрын
@@ShehuStebe Lol you guys really love your classroom analogies. To come close to God, a "teacher" in this case 1) Creates whatever "punishment" failing students would endure, 2) Knows exactly which students would get it wrong, and 3) Administers the question anyway. Extrapolate to God and you now have something that created eternal conscious torture and actualize a reality where people fall into it. If you assume our actions in life to be dominoes, then this initial actualization by God is the tipping of the first one. If I were an aspiring parent and somehow knew with 100% certainty that my first-born would ultimately disobey God and suffer eternal torment for it, I wouldn't decide to give birth to that child, even if everything it did was of its own free will. Because no soul can suffer torment if I don't decide to let the soul exist to begin with.

Thank you so much. The kadhaa and kadr and free-will it's a matter of belief that has no thing to do with our life science, however this belief in kadaa and kadar comes after establishing an origin belief which is believeing in Allah and in what Mohammad's message brought. Example: If I give you a showing proof that i can carry up 500kg, this fact makes you believe in my power. Now, what if someone told you that I could carry an elephant. Here surely you will believe in me basing on the origin belief with no need to a another proof (this's called rational proof). Results: The showing proof is the Quran which establishes the origin belief. when the origin belief is built, that leads to accept the second belief that has no need to any proofs. What the purpose of all that?. This's the sound belief that feeds our worshiping to Allah as like as we see him (IHSAN level) with trust, and that what makes the difference between the children of Adam who never seen or talked to Allah and the Angels who has already seen and talked to Allah. For that reason the Angels have been commanded to bow to Adam, and for that purpose exactly the satan has taken us his enemy and we commanded as well in surat Alkahf to take him as our enemy). Final fruit: The real worshippers of Allah from the children of Adam are better than the Angels. Allah said to the Angels in the Quran in surat Albakara " I know what don't know" this's when the Angels didn't realize the wisdom of making Adam and his children as khaleefa in the earth as a test for them where Allah gave them the free will to do what they want (obeying Allah or Obeying the Satan). However the Angels they're ordered to obey to Allah with no free will. Conclusion: Without understanding the whole story of pur creation and our purpose in this life we cannot absolutely realize the wisdom of believing in kadha an kadar.

If everything is Allah's choice he could have made everyone Muslim instead we have various religions like Christian,Hindu,Jews etc etc. Let us consider that someone is Hindu and he gives birth to a child,the child will obviously take on Hindu religion based on what his parents believe(In this case he doesnt have any free beacuse he is just a child and he was pre destined as we believe) so he lives his life and does everything right,he is kind,patient,generous and lives in peace but he doesnt believe in Allah because he is raised in a Hindu family. What do you expect him to do? Is there any way where it is mentioned how someone can know that his religion is not right and he has to believe in Allah?[Please provide references if there is any] Even if there is how do you expect someone to change a habit after 20years when he is already familiar with his tradtions and culture after showing him couple of references and proof and other things. Because it was pre destined that he would be born in a hindu family right? For example- Your age is 18 and suddenly you get to know that sleeping in the bed is not the right way and instead you should sleep standing and shows various references about how sleeping in the bed can cause various problems. You wont believe it right? So how can you get someone change his/her religion when it is completely illogical and he was destined to be like this in the first place? The easiest way to understand it is simple as Computer scientist let me give a example...If i write a program and put If Else condition that only i know...And give it to you as application.then only i knows about all the condition the program have put but you don't so you have to choose through your freedom of wil, but even then i know if you choose certain condition what will happed to you...But not only this if some how i know through probability and statists that you are going to choose this condition then voi la i know you and your destiny but i don't have that power full knowledge but Allah has he has the greatest Formula of Probability and Statists because he is knowledgeble. he has set the unknown and countless condition for you in your life and through your behavior towards Allah and his guidance it changes and even then he knows it because he has that greatest Probability Formula, that what you do in your life will affect your future wil.It's just simple logic.

This is not clear to me. If God wills for me then i cannot do otherwise. So free will does not exist. The only thing i have control on is what my thoughts are. Which Islam says that God knows and judgements will be made based on your thoughts
@n.a36423 жыл бұрын
No, God's will superseding yours is not a contradiction. At the end, you are still accountable for your own actions, and exercise of your free will. And you're not accountable for your thoughts, it's the actions.
@n.a36423 жыл бұрын
@@jaredgreenhouse6603 Yes. Allah has a will that supersedes our own will. Thus only what Allah had willed, will take place. However, although Allah has the ultimate will, it doesn't take away the fact that we have free will and are accountable for our own actions. There are simply too many factors at play in our life, which in the whole scheme of things is beyond the comprehension of our little human minds. As a simple example: say I decide to drive to the mosque. But because of a completely external factor, say a careless drunk driver, I get into an accident and am killed on the way. Now, in no way was my death my own fault. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that I had the free will (or choice) to go to the mosque. I can still be held accountable for that decision I made to go to the mosque and will be rewarded according to intentions. This shows that I indeed do have the choice for my own actions, just not the final outcome. The fact that Allah has given me a certain free will and I am able to exercise it however I like within my own domain, is enough for Allah to hold me to account. At the end what's important is that we are accountable for our own lives and our own hands will earn what we earn, and Allah will not be unjust in the slightest.
@n.a36423 жыл бұрын
@@jaredgreenhouse6603 I think you are thinking too hard and blaming the external factors leading to a result, but not necessarily surrendering up the fact that even with the result out of your hand (or at least some percentage is out of your hand), YOU still had some input. That input is enough for you to be judged. No one forced you to take 1 step. How people react to that step doesn't take away your own choice. Same with the driver, yes people can stop him but that doesn't mean that now we blame them all for it. Say for an extreme example, what if they try to stop him but he kills them and still goes behind the wheel? The fact of the matter is that, yes, he could've been affected by the externals, but at the end of the day he has his own will to get behind the wheel and the main one at fault would still be the drunk driver, and thus he would be held accountable for his own action. Fact of the matter is that we cannot ever truly comprehend qadr. It is a divine law put in place by the one who transcends everything. Once you realize the weakness of the human mind and our limited faculties, you start to realize that Qadr is actually the only way that truly makes sense.

@@jaredgreenhouse6603 But look, I haven't looked up the concept in depth yet, but it's still a man made concept that people have came to a conclusion over after many years, and even then other people (non-muslins) disagree with it. At the end of the day, it's just Philosophers over the years trying to grapple with problems. As a Muslim, I put revelation over reason (ultimately, not necessarily in all circumstances) and the bottom line is we definitely do have the freedom of action within our own domain. No theory can ever truly brush that off. Also to your last point, I'd say yes we can never truly try to understand it, but my point was to show that we can all come to the conclusion about our own free will regardless of what any other theory says.

Your argument would have been valid provided Allah hadn't gifted humans with free will. Since we're gifted with free will and since it is we who choose between the moral path and immoral path even though Allah very well is pre aware of our intentions and our choice very well ahead, it is we who are responsible for our actions.

He has knowledge what going to happen but He is not controlling you. You have the freewill to do right or wrong. If you know that murdering is wrong thing and you have committed it that's your wrong not God's. And he can't able to stop you while doing wrong because we r in test, during test can't interfere in our decision.

The question is NOT answered: Why would Allah create a human knowing that human will go to the fire (and Allah knows about it before that human is produced)? Allah brought that human to life to fail and be eternally tortured. Allah did that with the intention to torture that human after he dies because Allah knows the future results even before we are born.

Free Will and Predestination don't exist simultaneously. It's a Contradiction. Islam is a man made religion. Everything has already been written. It's Fate. Look up the definition of Fate. Sahih al-Bukhari 6614 Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Adam and Moses argued with each other. Moses said to Adam. 'O Adam! You are our father who disappointed us and turned us out of Paradise.' Then Adam said to him, 'O Moses! Allah favored you with His talk (talked to you directly) and He wrote (the Torah) for you with His Own Hand. Do you blame me for action which Allah had written in my fate forty years before my creation?' So Adam confuted Moses, Adam confuted Moses," the Prophet (ﷺ) added, repeating the Statement three times. Sahih Muslim 2749 Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) having said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if you were not to commit sin, Allah would sweep you out of existence and He would replace (you by) those people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would have pardoned them. The Earth is loosely divided into 24 regions (time zones) separated by longitude. Not counting local variations, each line of longitude is divided by fifteen degrees; as a general rule and depending upon which way one travels, time moves forward or backward one hour for every fifteen degrees of longitude. Allah didn't know 1/3rd the first part of night has always just ended somewhere on Earth 24/7!? He supposedly created the Earth but didn't know about time zones!? (Rhetorical Questions btw) lol Seems Allah thought it was Night everywhere on Earth at the same time simultaneously. Proof the Quran was written by primitive desert dwellers with limited knowledge. Sahih Muslim 758 b Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Allah descends every night to the lowest heaven when one-third of the first part of the night is over and says: I am the Lord; I am the Lord: who is there to supplicate Me so that I answer him? Who is there to beg of Me so that I grant him? Who is there to beg forgiveness from Me so that I forgive him? He continues like this till the day breaks. Lol 2) Allah entered his Creation. Heaven is Creation. 3) Why beg forgiveness for something Allah made you do!? 4) Whoever wrote this verse didn't know about time zones. They thought it was Night everywhere on Earth at the same time. There's actually 37 or 38 different Arabic Qurans btw 100s of thousands of textual variants that change the Narrative. kzbin.infoyrjKQi5-GUY?feature=share

Please don't get offended, i honestly am interested in understanding your point of view and i am sorry if you see mine as an insult. So i always asked myself: if Allah decided in advance all that happened, is happening and will happen, therefore he decided way before i was even born that i would live and die as a misbeliever. And even if he didn't decided it but he knew it already way before i was born, then how could i change it ? No matter how good i want to be i'll never be able to change the fact that i will die a misbeliever. So i will be punished for eternity either for something Allah made me do, or something Allah knew i would do and i could never do anything about. How is it fair ? What kind of asshole would do that ? Obviously Allah is an asshole. Except he's obviously not an asshole. Yet another contradiction. I think it proves pretty well if not that Allah doesn't exists, that the holy Qur'an is a flawed human construct. Prove me wrong.

One may say then, “What’s the use of striving in this life if we will get what is already decreed by God?” This seems logical, but it is, of course, a misconception. In fact, Islam places great emphasis on making efforts towards a desired end. In the Quran, God says, “And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives And that his effort is going to be seen - Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense And that to your Lord is the finality”(53:39-42).

What do you think? Is all qadr before creation like in Quran, then manifestation of creation, we feel or feel not free will with hearts and minds only for testimony and pleasure of Allah, then the results we get at day of resurrection, he tells us good tidings or that we can't go back cause we would not change a thing and then we get to hell or heaven. I hope it's all for his pleasure to live life like he wants disbelieving or believing, and then forgive us all because he is most forgiving, and we will go to jannah :) khair inshaallah

Such nonsense. 1. By definition, free will and destiny are incompatible. You cannot be free to make your own choices if your future has already been written. 2. If you truly believe that your fate/destiny has been set, ask yourself this question. - why look both ways before crossing the road? If your destiny has been set, it will make no difference to your survival. Why not test your faith and your belief in destiny by never looking before stepping out into traffic. If you think that idea is stupid, then you can't truly believe.
@aisham68199 жыл бұрын
Mark Bradley The destiny is the two sides of the roads. One leading to West Norwood, and the other to East Norwood..and making the free choice is to choose whether to take either paths. But the people who constructed the roads, knew that the human being will make choices whether to walk this way or that way...that's how i perceive destiny. It's a big topic though...
@Em-Bee9 жыл бұрын
Aisha M I don't know what on Earth you're trying to say. Keep it simple. Would you walk across a road without checking to see if there is oncoming traffic? If not, why not?
@aisham68199 жыл бұрын
Duh, look right and left before crossing the road. I thought that would of been common sense for you and most people. But anyways, to explain my answer, suppose you driving to a T-section road, you either have the choice to turn to go right or left. The road has already been made and planned by those who made the road. That's like destiny..and choosing to go either right or left is free will...from my understanding...
@Em-Bee9 жыл бұрын
Aisha M you're either missing or ignoring the point. Why is it common sense to look before crossing the road? If your destiny is pre-determined, looking serves no purpose. You're either going to die or make it to the other side and you have no control over that. You didn't answer the question as to why you choose to look, but I'll answer for you. It's because you know that your own actions affect your own destiny. If you look before crossing the road and see that a car is coming, you can avoid walking into it's path and being knocked over. You have the free will to make that choice. i.e. your destiny is not pre-determined. It's very simple to understand.
@TheIcecream20109 жыл бұрын
+Mark Bradley How about you look both ways before crossing the road; however, a manhole cover is open and you unawarely fall into the sewage system and die. That's destiny! There are many things human beings are not aware of other than that opened manhole. You cannot compare destiny to a 3,4,5,6,7,8 or whatever dimensional world because a person's action is not caused by what is written in the preserved tablet but, rather, the action is written in the preserved tablet because God already knows all occurrences without the restrictions of time .
