I have 2 VX6R’s. For those who need 2m/70cm for actual in field use, there is no better radio currently produced! Pickup the Super Signal stick (much improved thx/rx) for walking around and a N9TAX Rollup Jpole ultraportable antenna for backcountry use!

Love my VX-6R, just keeps chugging along. Been through so much abuse. I'm not sure I'd subject my ID-51a plus2 to the same shenanigans, although it is IP-X7 rated.

I’d say this line of radios from Yaesu is likely the toughest and most rugged for ham radio.

Mine does... I hooked it up to a Mobilinkd2 TNC with Bluetooth. Paired that with my phone and use the APRSdroid app on my phone for the interface. It's about a $100 add on.
