Dinho’s peak was higher than Neymar’s. You could say Dinho was fortunate to win the WC in 02 because of the team but you could argue the same for Neymar he was fortunate to play with that team in Barca. Neymar is a better finisher but Dinho had better ball retention and creativity. For me, the achievements and careers are comparable so it comes down to the eye test and Dinho edges it.

Curious to see the opinions of non-brazilians. But here in Brazil, no one - not even Neymar or his mother, would put himself over Ronaldo. Not even close. Ronaldo has two world cups, he has ballon d'ors, there are children name after him. Neymar is seen as a very good player... for a generation that didn't win a world cup, and unless he ends up doing it, he will never be over a player that has won one.

First of all, if this was an all time Brazil players list without any timeframe, Ronaldo would be number 1 and at worst number 2. There is only a debate post 2002 is because other players had longer seasons But for people to say after the 2002 World Cup, he did not do anything, so lets examine that. In the 2002 World Cup, he scored 8 goals in that World Cup. That was the higest tally by single player in a World Cup in the 21st century until Kylian Mbappe matched it in 2022, and Ronaldo did it without taking any penalties. And that was the highest tally by any single player in a World Cup since Gerd Muller scored 10 goals in the 1970 World Cup. Thats not just a great World Cup campaign, that was a historic World Cup campaign. Brazil won their 5th World Cup and Ronaldo won the FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon D'Or. And lets also look at his performances for clubs since Faysal said he never had 3 great seasons 1. PSV 1994/95 (the same year that the great Ajax team won the Champions League) - 36 games, 35 goals 2. PSV 1995/96 - 21 games, 19 goals 3. Barcelona 1996-97 - 49 games, 47 goals (the highest goal tally by any player in Europe until Lionel Messi equalled it in 2009/10 and Cristiano Ronaldo broke it in 2010/11) 4. Inter 1997-98 - 47 games, 34 goals (in what was then known as the toughest defensive league of all time) 5. He did play 17 games in the 01/02 season and scored 8 goals. 6. Real Madrid 2002/03 - 43 games, 29 goals 7. Real Madrid 2003/04 - 48 games, 31 goals and his best assist season of 12 assists 8. Real Madrid 2004/05 - 45 games, 24 goals and 11 assists 9. Real Madrid 2005/06 - 27 games, 14 goals (somehow still finished as Real Madrid's top goalscorer even though he had ankle and thigh injuries) People consider these seasons at Real Madrid as "washed Ronaldo". Physically he was not the same, but the numbers were still up there. I think only prime Thierry Henry and Ruud Van Nistelrooy during that time were equalling or bettering Ronaldo. And this is a Ronaldo after 2 patella tendon tears. So again people throw blanket statements without looking at the context. So thats 6 great club seasons and 3 okay season for Ronaldo during an era when football was more defensive, the referees would not give tick tack fouls for free kicks and penalties, the star players were not protected from tackles by defenders and also look at the quality of every team at that time with defenders. The likes of Maldini, Cannavaro, Nesta, Stam, Thuram, Ferdinand, Terry were all there. For Faysal to sit there and say he has a bone to pick with Ronaldo, first of all, he did his best. They won the league in 2002/03. And then Florentino Perez decides to sell the best defensive midfielder at that time Claude Makelele to Chelsea because he was not "marketable enough" and then also let club captain Fernando Hierro go as well. Not to mention he sacked Vicente Del Bosque for no logical reason at all. To make matters worse, he brought in attacking players like David Beckham, Michael Owen, Robinho, etc when the attacking lineup did not need refreshing. Perez even admitted that he did for marketing reasons. The defensive unit needed strengthening and he neglected that area all the time. So Faysal should look at Perez and not Ronaldo because he hired the managers and brought the players. There is a reason why Perez left in 2006 because by the end, the first Galacticos project was in steep decline.

I don't know how peak Neymar can be placed above peak Dinho, I just don't. Yes, he has the longevity and the stats (although he is more of a forward anyway), but Dinho is easily the more talented of the two as far as I'm concerned and also had a much better peak. Fact is, one of them was the best player in the world. The other never was, and has flopped many times in the past few years, both internationally and in Europe. Also, as much as I love R9, he is my favourite player of all time, there is not way he goes above Ronaldinho post 2002. Oh, and Faysal's opinions about R9 are mentallll. Absolute madness. In 2018, Neymar was not great and then in 2022 he was great in patches but I believed Vinicus performed better than him in the group stages. There is a reason why Brazil has not sniffed a World Cup since 2002. The so called best players for Brazil at the time like Kaka, Ronaldinho and Neymar did not produce when the big moments came. Ronaldo did. Thats the difference. He elevated his own game and also everyone around him. The hallmark of an all time great player.
