Don't be silly. You can be a legend for a club and bang goals but as a striker, there's no question that most of these guys are/were superior to Raul. Raul is basically Inzaghi. I'm a Milan fan, but you don't see me hyping up Pippo and claiming he was better than Shevchenko, van Nistelrooy, Henry, Eto'o. Ibra, etc.. and I love Super Pippo to death.

As a Milan fan, comparing Raul to Pippo is insane, Raul is clear in every way except for goalscoring, in which they're equal. They didn't even play the same position (as said, Raul was a second striker). Imagine Thomas Muller if he was a great dribbler, and you have Raul. Really put that into perspective, I beg: Thomas Muller that's nice with the ball at feet. That's a badman. To the commenter above me whoever you are, please put respect on Raul's name. So all sorts of bias are included,and there’s no specific criteria being followed every year,it’s literally "vote for who I personally liked better this year even if my vote totally contradicts my vote from last year in terms of criteria"…they’re HUMANS,lol. Let me prove you just how absurd that award is in Eto’o specific case. In his best individual season in 2006 where he wins the UCL and is uefa foward of the year scoring in a champions league finals, he doesn’t even get a top 5 finish when zidane for example had said he should have won or at least been closer to the 1st. But a season he played less good they gave him top 5 after winning the treble and scoring in the final while he was better than all the players ranked ahead of him that season besides maybe Messi. It’s so inconsistent and is clearly a "who do I want to win right now" award. Eto’o was better than Rooney.

Look, even though, ability-wise, you'd have to put Henry ahead of Shevchenko (you'd also have to put Zlatan ahead of Eto'o in that case, too), the reason why Sheva is better than Henry for me is because he did it in a much tougher league (Prem was shite when Henry joined), and because he did it in European competition. Yes, Milan choked the '05 final, but Sheva scored the winning penalty in the '03 final and won it for Milan, too. Henry never won it with Arsenal and choked in the '06 final even more than Sheva did the '05 final. Plus, Sheva won a Ballon d'Or and Henry never did. That's why it's a wrap for me. Plus, we taking about longevity? Shevchenko was bodying Real Madrid and Barcelona when he was at Dynamo Kyiv, whilst Henry was still on the bench for Monaco and Juventus.
