So much to learn in this one video, and I'm *so* here for it!! I laughed out loud when we got to the first part of the concert where she addresses the audience and Peter laughed and said "Breathe, My Dear." I felt like I was gasping for air in sympathy for the poor girl while she was talking. 😂❤

Olivia Rodrigo is one of my favorite artists of all time, she just so amazing and never fails to impress me. Her songs always hit home, I love how raw and honest her song writing is. So I am so happy that you did this R&A for here tiny desk!! When this performance first came out I was so obsessed with it because it is such a great live performance. I loved how you broke down her vocals and explained what she was doing. It helped me to understand more of what she was doing. Thank you so much the amazing R&A as always Peter❤

Great analysis for an amazing artist! When you talked about how spreading your mouth wider gets a brighter sound that helps the note get sharper, it reminded me of a similar thing we do on flute to get the same affect, especially when playing quiet notes that tend to go flat! Funny how there was a similarity there that I wouldn’t have known about otherwise 😁

The bundle of energy that is Olivia. As a 48yr old man, listening to her is a total guilty pleasure. Her first album sour was a pleasant surprise and instantly I was hooked. Guts is an album I approached with trepidation as the first album is often hard to beat. Fortunately she chose not to have her sophomore work compete with sour and instead she herself moved on. A clean break if you will. A very intelligent and wise choice. I'm sure she got together with her producer Dan Nigro to figure out the path that became Guts. If Guts and Guts Spilled is an indication of where she's taking her musical style, I think we're going to continue to hear the Pop-Punk Olivia, the Ballad Olivia, the Country-Folk Olivia and I'm here for it. She's got a rare story teller quality and gift. Her voice is captivating and she sucks you in with that sweetness and then she might do a shouty vocal, or a ballad, or maybe she'll come back and do a metal song. She's still very early in her career and I'm sure she'll find a place where she and her voice are happiest. I just hope she takes enough time to completely rest her voice. So many singers before her have damaged their voice from over use and abuse. Thanks for your insight. I've Subscribed so hopefully you'll continue to pump out these vocal technique analysis. If I use you as a measuring device, I'm pleasantly surprised with how much of what I thought is what you thought. Things that I had picked up on but wasn't entirely sure about. I like having the confirmation that I was right or on the right track.

Really LOVED your vocal analysis of this performance! Olivia is one of only a few artists to do 2 NPR Tiny Desk concerts, and all 4 of these songs are off her GUTS album. Along with her phenomenal backup singers, her band is also phenomenal. I don't know how the drummer (Hayley) keeps the shaker perfectly playing throughout Vampire, especially towards the end when the tempo increases. The performance of Vampire was a total remix for the Tiny Desk concert, as were all of these songs. This performance was done on 12/11/2023 (my BD, btw 😊) and she was 20 - UNBELIEVABLE to play the guitar AND piano AND sing, like it was nothing 😲 Making the Bed: this was the first time she performed this song LIVE - it is totally different from the studio version on the album. The "ahs and oohs" in the final chorus was all Olivia - that's an instrumental on the album version. It is an absolutely brilliant performance of this song! 😯 GLAD you released this in ONE video.
