Once Saved, Always Saved? Salvation is more than forgiveness of sin. Salvation so changes a person that he can never be the same again. The spirit of a saved person is now a New Creature and will never be the same again. 2 Cor. 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, ALL things are become new.” Saved are Dead to Sin and can no longer live in it. (The saved can commit sin, but can no longer live in sin, there is a difference). Rom 6:2 “God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, LIVE any longer therein?” He is saying it is not possible. Just like a person that is dead, he no longer lives here. The saved spirit now hates sin. Rom 7:15 “For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; BUT WHAT I HATE, that do I.” Though he now hates sin it is still present with him in his body (old man). Rom 7:20 “Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.” Eze 36:26-27 “A NEW HEART also will I give you, and A NEW SPIRIT will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put MY SPIRIT within you, AND CAUSE YOU TO WALK IN MY STATUTES, AND YE SHALL KEEP MY JUDGMENTS, AND DO THEM.” The saved will never be dominated by sin again. Rom 6:14 “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” Now when he sins God will chasten him, but not damn him. Heb 12:7 “If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?” This could not be done under the law, but only under grace. Being under the law always only brings death. 1 Cor 11:32 “But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should NOT BE CONDEMNED WITH THE WORLD.” God will even chasten a saved person unto death if necessary. 1 Cor. 11:30 “For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.” (Sleep for the saved is death of the body, but not the spirit or soul.) It is the spirit of the saved that is born again. It will never sin again. Titus 3:5 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” See born again in John 3:3. 1 Jn 3:9 “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and HE CANNOT SIN, BECAUSE HE IS BORN OF GOD.” 1 Jn 5:18 “We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” It is the spirit that will never sin again. The saved now belongs to Christ 1 Cor 6:19 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and YE ARE NOT YOUR OWN?” The saved person belongs to Christ now and he will never lose him. John 18:9 “That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.” (Judas was not saved and then became lost, he was never saved in the first place). Christ is in the process of conforming the soul of the saved into the image of Christ. The spirit is saved by the new birth, the soul is being conformed to the image of Christ (in this present life), someday the saved will be given a new body, the old body cannot be saved. The source of all sin for the saved is his old body (old man, Eph. 4:22), but not from his spirit, when the old body is gone the saved will be completely delivered from sin. The saved always follow Christ. John 10:3-4 “To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and THE SHEEP FOLLOW HIM: FOR THEY KNOW HIS VOICE. 5 AND A STRANGER WILL THEY NOT FOLLOW, BUT WILL FLEE FROM HIM: FOR THEY KNOW NOT THE VOICE OF STRANGERS.” John 10:27 “MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE, and I know them, AND THEY FOLLOW ME:” If a person fails to continue following Christ it proves he was never saved. 1 Jn 2:19 “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.” 1 Jn 3:10 “In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.” Jesus explains in Mt. 13 (parable of the sower) why some begin but fail to continue. (They weren’t saved and then became lost again). Salvation changes a person and removes him from under the law and places him under grace so God can now correct rather than condemn. The spirit of the saved now hates sin and will never submit to it again. Sin is still in his old unsaved body and he will have to deal with it until it dies. Scripture has much more than this to show “Once Saved, Always Saved”. If staying saved is dependent upon you, you won’t make it. You have placed yourself back under the law. You will have to be perfectly without sin for the rest of your life. The law requires it. Saved persons follow Christ because they have a new heart and a new spirit. Not in order to remain saved, but because they now have a heart and spirit to follow Christ. This is the effect of genuine salvation. Do you really understand salvation?

Romans 5:8-11 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners , Christ died for us. MUCH MORE then, being now justified by his blood , we shall be saved from wrath through him. It is the works done by our Lord Jesus Christ. He did it once and declared It is finished! He is the final sacrifice to be offered for our redemption. Ephesians 1:7 and Colosians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood , the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace. Ephesians 2:8-9 also emphasizes that For by grace are we saved thru faith; and that not of ourselves : IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD. NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast. Paul in Galatians 3 called them foolish, why? Galatians 3:1 O foolish Galatians , who hath bewitched you, that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently so forth crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect in the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? If yet be in vain. However, in 2Corinthian13:5 Paul admonished believers to: Examine yourselves , whether you be in the FAITH; prove your own selves, HOW that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates. I believe that I am saved thru the grace of God, It is His gift to us. I do not deserve it because I am a sinner but He freely gives this to me(Romans 8:32)and I receive it by faith only(which is also a gift of the Holy Spirit 1Cor 12). Paul the apostle to the Gentiles said in 1 Timothy 1:15-16 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am CHIEF. Howbeit for this CAUSE I obtained mercy, that in me FIRST Jesus Christ might shew forth all long suffering , for a PATTERN to them which should hereafter believe on him to LIFE EVERLASTING.

Outstanding lesson, and well needed today! 1 Thessalonians 4:17 states "we which are alive and remain" remain where? "remain in the faith" Paul in 2 Corinthians 13:5 implores us to examine ourselves whether we are in or out of the faith, meaning we CAN leave the faith and become reprobate. God being faithful has nothing to do with if you are faithful. and it clearly says in verse 12 right in front of that - that IF you DENY him - he shall DENY you. I was born again 12 years ago in my kitchen. It was like a bolt from above, and I fell down on my knees immediately. In a split second, I felt my sinfulness, horror of it, God's forgiveness, His love, gratitude, love for Him, His Word, knew that I needed to get baptized, get a Bible, and find a church. And I had the unshakable certainty that I am His child and belong to Him forever and ever. The rest of the day I cried, had chills and chattered my teeth. Later, I was taught in my new church that the salvation of all of us was not certain. I have not lost my certainty of salvation as a result. There are countless passages in Scripture that stand for the certainty of salvation. Certainty of salvation seems to be a special gift from the Lord, which unfortunately not everyone has.

My state of knowledge: 1. Our sins do not make us sinners. This is human logic. The Lord says: We are sinners from the womb. Sin (singular, aka sinful nature, the flesh, the old Adam) causes us to commit sins (plural). That's why the law can't justify anyone. Because even without sinning, we are sinners before God. The human mind sees it the other way around. For our mind it are our sins that make us sinners. God sees it the other way around. 2. We are all sinners. That is why we need to be born again. God then begets a new creature in us through the Holy Spirit, namely the resurrection life of Christ, which reawakens our spirit and reunites us with God. With this we have eternal life. 3. The new man does not sin. He is holy before God. Just as the sinful nature causes sinful deeds, the new nature causes good deeds. Just as good deeds do not change the sinful nature, evil deeds cannot change the holy nature. They may inhibit our development. See Church in Corinth. 4. When we sin, it is the flesh that rebels in us. The old man and the new man fight with each other. If we sin and don't bring it before God, He chastises us. This does not mean that we lose eternal life, but it may mean that we suffer, become ill or even die. (see the Church in Corinth again or Ananias and Sapphira). The sin of (earthly) death would then be the extreme case. About Matt 7,21-23: There are a lot of (false) Christians underway, who even perform apparent miracles or have visions.

Jesus Christ himself said that if a person did NOT overcome - he would BLOT OUT their name OUT of the book of life. You CANNOT BLOT OUT a name unless the name was ALREADY IN. Meaning the person was ONCE SAVED but did NOT STAY saved and finish to the end and therefore was REMOVED from the book. Also - you CANNOT be removed from the tree/vine - unless you were ALREADY IN the tree/vine - meaning the person was IN - but did NOT stay in. What it means, it doesn't give you the right to sin. You can lose your salvation only if you deny Jesus Christ and take the mark of the beast. Jesus came and shead his blood on the cross for us , so it's up to use not to lose our salvation.

if a person accepts the Mark of the Beast - their turning back was the person, not God. They will have their name REMOVED from the book of life which means the name was in there ----- but then REMOVED ----which proves the POINT - there is NO once saved always saved or NOBODY would be able to turn back, turn away, or walk away from God. Right but you underestimate the sanctification power of the Holy Spirit. A truly saved person, turns away from his sin by the power of the Holy Spirit. You cannot be truly saved, and also not have the Holy Spirit working inside you to remove your sinful desires. Once you have truly “put off the old man” you cannot put him back on again. This is what Jesus is talking about in John 10, your also limiting Christs omniscience by saying your name will be removed from the book, if God is truly all Knowing, why would He put your name in the book of life knowing in the future you would turn away from Him? It’s not up to us to keep our salvation, that’s works, that’s what Peter taught against in chapter 2 of his second epistle. I pray you will turn from you self wisdom and seek guidance from the Lord in this matter

i checked and there are no examples of anyone name being blotted out of the book of life in the new testament. My undestanding is that once you are born again, there are conditions, but he is not willing that you perish and will rescue you. Reason i say this is because i was "miraculously" awakened out of my slumber of many years, and brought back to renew my vows of repentance. Because of my own experience, i don't think he will allow anyone that was born again to lose their salvation. I am not aware of anyone that was born again, that became so evil that Jesus blood was not good enough. Being born again, is a pretty dramatic experience, and if someone truly believed, i don't think they would be capable to do as in your extreme examples of blasphemying god and wish to go to hell...they would have to be very mental, in which case they likely were never saved to begin with. ...anyway, just my current thoughts based on my personal experience and my interpretation of what i have read. If Jesus wanted it to be clear, i think he would have given an example of someone who's name was blotted out? Even the one example you gave, was similar to my own where they were called back into repentance....edited to add:: although i don't believe scirpture teaches OSAS, i don't believe it teaches that it is not possible either. I would just caution that no one leans on OSAS because 1john 5 teaches if you truly believe you will overcome, which i don't believe is possible to even pursue if anyone leans on OSAS, so i think OSAS is a bad teaching as it brings no Glory to God. I think it is his plan that it is "not clear". Rev suggests that your name won't be blotted out if you overcome, but it doesn't teach your name will be blotted out if you don't, and i don't believe it is a safe assumption either way. Romans 8 makes it clear...and i think that anyone that would take the effort to teach OSAS would be better serving God to teach to live by spirit.....that teaching OSAS brings not Glory to God...jmo

You may not know this, but you choose to believe that Jesus can somehow lose that which the Father has given him even though he said I should lose nothing and choose to believe he cannot be heartbroken even though someone has lost their salvation. Because if you believe in your heart that he's heartbroken then it'll prove that he has lost someone he loved even though he said I should lose nothing. AND THIS IS THE WILL OF THE FATHER WHO SENT ME, THAT OF ALL HE HAS GIVEN ME I SHOULD LOSE NOTHING BUT SHOULD RAISE IT UP AT THE LAST DAY. (JOHN 6:39 NKJV.)

So how many times is the blood of Christ applied to your sins? Only once. Once you are saved the Holy Spirit deals with you as a son or daughter, not an outsider. He also gives you a NEW Birth, your desires change, you want to do the things of Christ. If you think you can say a prayer and live like the devil you were never saved to begin with.

Why are there so many different and false churches? 1 Corinthians 14:33 "For God is not the author of confusion... Call it what you want, Pentecostal, Apostolic, Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Church of God, Potters House, Lakewood, TBN, etc. FALSE, FALSE, FALSE. Matthew 7:21 " Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; 1 Corinthians 1:10 ....by the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you;. Jesus Christ is coming soon...you better get it right or you'll be going to hell. I stand FIRM on the word of God that's why you'll NEVER find me attending these FALSE churches which were created by man. Now remember the scripture..... Acts 2:38 Repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Disappointing b/c he never addressed God's Plan of Salvation found in ACTS 2:38.39. We must obey what Jesus has commanded to go to Heaven. We MUST Repent & be Baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ FOR the remission of sin and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost (evidenced by speaking in other Tongues). No one will go to Heaven with "sin", it must be remitted!

I come from an occult background. "Speaking in other Tongues" is common there. The biblical evidence for a born again christian is love for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
