Orthodontics is a medical treatment. I've had braces for more than 2 years, and double jaw surgery to correct a severe overbite. Having a functional bite and not losing my teeth at 50 was more important than having a "Hollywood smile" (which I won't have at the end of my treatment and that's Ok).

Well said. Orthodontics is not just for esthetics. Having a good bite is essential for proper function of the teeth and jaws, speech, eating, etc.

Thank you so much for your input I was wondering if you could make a video about having a tilted/canted smile (like when a side of your teeth slants down or up causing your smile to look crooked) and how it’s fixed with braces? I never see any information or videos regarding that issue and I’d really appreciate your thoughts!

That’s a good topic. It depends on whether it is a true dental or skeletal cant or if it’s hyperactive musculature of the lips on one side. Skeletal and muscular cants are difficult to correct. Mild dental cants can be addressed orthodontically with or without the use of TADS/mini implants depending on the severity.

Always ortho first. They make the referral to OMFS.
