The Jets have a habit of bringing back players they like who have left the team, like Appleton, and Brossoit. If they believe in a guy, they will bring him back. I think Laine will come back a more humble player, and not think of himself as the superstar he once thought he was. If he does come back - Ehlers likely resigns, as their good friends. May or may not work out - I'm sort of 50 - 50 on Laine, as he was so bad defensively when he was with the Jets. Maybe he's improved, and he has the ability to be a top sniper in the league and score 50 goals. Something to think about.Could work out, and dump Pionks contract at the same time.

I think when Lanie went to Columbus he didn’t have a Ehlers. Columbus did try to find someone who plays like Ehlers like Johnny Gaudreau, but he didn’t play exactly like Ehlers. If Chevy does trade for Lanie reunion with Ehlers, the Jets 1st or 2rd line will be fun to watch.

IF Patrick can get away from the injury bug. IF Columbus retains minimum $3m salary. IF Winnipeg keeps Ehlers (Laine and Ehlers are BFF's) and IF the Jets pair Ehlers and Laine with a top center, preferably Monahan, then I would love this trade. Bringing Laine back may also encourage Ehlers to want to stay. And to all the idiots who continue to refer to him as a one trick pony, you obviously haven't been paying attention or don't really know Hockey.

Why would the Jets need to add more. They are sending the exciting prospect. Laine is a cap dump+ he doesn’t want to play there anymore. You need to CLB to add a young asset to make us take that cap hit for two years.

Severson makes 6.25, Laine makes 8.7, so lets say 15 million. Pionk makes just under 5.875. If Winnipeg is going to take on so much salary and part with McGroarty I don't see it happening. Maybe I am wrong. As much as I see this type of deal, I can also see Patrik Laine to Winnipeg with a draft pick for future considerations or some deal that shocks Winnipeggers as to how easy it was to acquire him based on his injury history, being in player assistance, and Laine requesting a trade.

Pionk is extremely valuable. If they traded him for Laine, Rutgar couldn't be part of that package. The Jets have a surplus of forwards, not D. They already bought out Schmitt which was stupid. Schmitt's crime is he has a personality. But as for Laine, Ehlers for Laine would be fine in my books. I'm an Ehlers fan, but he clearly needs to fly.
