I thought the Guenther contract would have been a comparable long term. Connor Scheifele Ehlers Villardi Lambert Perfetti Nino Lowry Appleton Barron Namestnikov Iafallo I'd like to see chibrikov on team. Sad about Heinola injury he's not looking like going to pane out he's getting older now. But it's next man up for Coghlan and Fluery get shots * the backup goalies looks like will be an issue. Iafallo,Pionk,Ehlers,Appleton are UFA so next year there will be more openings for players. Since I don't think Heinola is going to pane out Jets have Barlow,Lucius,Yager,Lambert,Chibrikov,Perfetti at forward sign a UFA dman like Chychrun,Theodore,Ekblad,Provorov or a younger dman like Jiricek/Mataychuk,Byram,Schneider types.

The Jets also have to consider Yager for at least a few games this year. He's reminds me a bit of a Jonathan Toews with his work along the boards. The first game he set up Morgan Baron for a nice look and seemed to hold his own in the face off circle, We'll get a few more good looks at him in the pre-season but I don't think that there'd be harm in starting Gus on the Moose and letting Yager grab a few games to see what he can do in the NHL.

I don’t think Perfetti gets signed before the season starts. Unless he fires his agent this will drag on for a long time. The team needs to build the roster without him. Love the player. Hate the agent. He’s only hurting himself.

The defenseman on this team is atrocious.... Morrissey, Demelo, Samberg.... other than that, a bunch of 7s...... With 2 (? Prospect Henoila Sollomonson) Pionk and AI need to go that's 10M and get a huge name already...

@Lachylego Miller on most "playoff teams" is a 7+... obviously he a great guy to have with 82 games, and there are almost always injuries... But on a team that wants to win the stanley cup, he is not a top 6 player....
@Tlilancalqui
@Tlilancalqui 4 күн бұрын
Losing Schmitd was a big mistake. He had a huge season this year and was lights out in the play-offs (until he nearly killed Vladdy), but he obviously didn't do that on purpose. The problem was that Pionk was having a terrible year, but Mark likes him so Mark helped to shift the blame from Niel to Nate and without accountability Pionk is getting worse. We could actually miss the play-offs this year by trying to have a Stanley-Miller 3rd pair, and Pionk who is a psycho.
@Mylife4hockey
@Mylife4hockey 4 күн бұрын
@Tlilancalqui Schmidt plays well when it's controlled, not a 82 plus playoff guy unfortunately at 5.8M you can't have on the books. Schmidt at 1 or 1.5 playing 45 games a season absolutely... losing Dillion was a mistake and Pionk needed go like 2 seasons ago...
@Tlilancalqui
@Tlilancalqui 4 күн бұрын
@@Mylife4hockey You say that he plays well when it's controlled, but that's the rub, it's not what the facts say for the last year. It didn't seem to matter who they were playing against. In the situation he's given he's 2% above average in shooting, where Pionk is 7% below average. Nate's CORSI is 54%, Pionk's is 48%, Pionk's on ice Expected Goal Diff is -16.2 and Nate's is 7.9. Nate's On-Ice goals is 55%, Pionk's is 50%. You can say that Pionk plays against harder opponents but he also plays with better teammates, in situations where he is supposed to be generating offense, whereas Nate is playing a more defensive first position on the third pair. The reason why we got rid of Nate is that he's given a 9% in competition and 7% in teammates. Those are both well below failing grades. But ask it's his coach and his teammates that decide those numbers, and if you have seen Nate in interviews he's a well spoken great guy, so something is very sus.

Rutger is now on a team that will be doing all they can to stay somewhat competitive as a maybe fringe playoff team just to keep sid geno tanger. Then after 3 years of being mid at best trading their future away to be decent now, THEN they will start the rebuild for about 3-4 years. Rutger isn’t winning squat for at least 7 years

I am maybe lost, but would you compare Chibrikov to Trocheck in a certain way?
@choicestk-pv4ws
@choicestk-pv4ws 11 күн бұрын
I think of Chibrikov as a skilled pest something definitely needed on the Jets roster. I think he would fit perfectly on the 3rd line with Lowry and Nino (move Appleton to 4th). Lambert is an NHL player right now period - don't see playing games with the Moose helping his development. I am torn on Barlow in that draft I really wanted the Jets to take the player that went right after him Oiver Moore. I think he has the potential to develop into a consistent middle six player but the Jets definitley have a lot of wingers that don't look like they are going anywhere soon. Braydenn Yager looks like he has a lot of skill but just needs to put it all together. I can see him developing into the 2C this team seems to be perpetually looking for. Lucius - I just hope this poor guy can finally catch some breaks on the injury front - with his injury history anything you get out of him at this point is a bonus and found money.

Jets have a lot of guys 1-3 years away from very likely making an impact. Lambert I think has a legit shot to make the team this year and is my personal fav. Chibby is feisty and already at a level to contribute to an NHL PP. I'd love to see his 5v5 consistency take another step with the moose this year then make the jump in 2025. Salo I think needs some adjustment to the NA ice and space in the Moose, look for him to make the jump a bit past Christmas or so, depends on injuries. Yager seems like he might be a bit closer than I originally thought. could be a dark horse to make the jump in 2025, i'd love to see him with the moose along with Barlow but the CHL agreement sucks in scenarios like this.

After what I’ve seen in the tournament so far, I definitely think Salomonsson needs more time in the minors. He needs some work in decision making. A few guys I’ve been liking what I’m seeing from is Barlow, Lambert and Chibrikov. Definitely also some issues with the decision making, but that will come with time and experience.

There's also the wife/girlfriend angle. People say "oh they only play 41 games there in the winter" are forgetting that the family is stuck in Winnipeg all winter long. Winnipeg also has "nothing to do", according to many of the disgruntled ship-jumpers anyway, which means the wives get stuck at home with the kids in the cold and nothing to do but watch Netflix. When, in their minds, their husband could just force their way out to Anaheim or something. Much more appealing for them. Obviously not all of them are like this, but as someone who is personally good friends with someone who is part of the Jets staff, I've heard time and time again over the years since they've come back that the player liked Winnipeg, but the GF or wife wanted out ASAP. And you know how it is. Happy wife, happy life.

While I'm still somewhat of a fairly new fan to hockey, (+ Fan of the Jets, too!) if what folks were saying that he wasn't given much of a chance to shine, I'd say that he should sign long-term deal. I'm hoping Scott Arniel will allow him that chance to show what he's got, especially if he really likes staying with the Jets. Well, at least from how I'm hearing it? I'm looking forward to seeing how the roster will perform once Hockey's back on the ice again, and ready to fire things up! Especially with the little bite-sized news I've been hearing pop up. Very curious about the new guys working alongside the veterans.
