​@@johnnyboydianno The last 2 playoff series the Jets have played have exposed their lack of speed and appalling lack of defensive responsibility. Furthermore it should be a concern that for the 2nd straight playoff series Hellebuyck didn't elevate his game to the level needed to consistently keep the Jets in such series. That said, bar Hellebuyck, Brossoit (if the latter chooses to re-sign with the Jets) and maybe Scheifele, is there really any non-goalie skater who's a keeper if: - under his 2nd or later NHL contract - pending unrestricted free agent or - pending restricted free agent with arbitration rights? Furthermore I find it ASTONISHING Kevin Cheveldayoff, despite limited playoff success he's overseen as Jets' GM (June 2011 onward, longer than any non-Jets' Canadian team's current GM has served with his existing team), still has a job. Kyle Dubas lasted FIVE season as Leafs' GM before that team's President determined that Dubas's time had been up in that role (with Brad Treliving having taken over late last May). The Jets meanwhile have gone: - 3 seasons without a playoff series win - 6 seasons without a conference final appearance - their entire existence, even going back to their Thrashers' days, without a Stanley Cup appearance, although if they don't take care of either of the previous 2 drought types 1st, they can forget about ever seeing a Cup final Jets' ownership group True North Sports and Entertainment (TNSE) would be INCREDIBLY stupid to just let Chevy run this season's roster, as much as possible, back. Consecutive 1st-round exits make clear that big changes have to come if the Jets are to win a playoff series. Yes it's no sure thing the Jets will anytime soon but can any NHL team win a playoff series if, game in and game out, it allows 4 or more goals? Four has been the MINIMUM # of goals the Jets have, during their past 9 playoff games, allowed, and of those they've won ONE (game 1 of the Avs-Jets series 7-6 in regulation).

​@@wainber1 It's not Astonishing that puppet Kevin Cheveldayoff is still the GM after 13 years, even after only making it past the second round once, when you figure out how TNSE is scamming fans. TNSE doesn't really care if the Jets win the cup, they are business owners that only care about making money. It's been reported that Dave Thompson, (Part Jets owner worth 80 Billion) is sooooo cheap, that he flies economy. Really? I am worth only 80 bucks and I hate flying economy. TNSE only cares about money, period. So how do they make money? By trying to keep the arena filled all year. How do you do that? By keeping the team just good enough to squeak into the playoffs, giving fans a little hope. In order to win a cup you usually need some really elite superstars. (Either that or a unicorn team with insane depth like Dallas). Elite superstars that the Jets don't have. Scheifele who is the Jets top centre, would be a second liner on "many" teams, and "possibly" even a third liner on some really deep teams. So how does one get those elite players? One of two ways. #1. By drafting in the top 5 for a few years. #2. By overpaying with many pics and prospects to get one player. In order to draft in the top 5 for a few years, the Jets would have to tank. If the Jets tanked, people would stop going to games for a while and TSNE wouldn't make as much money. (Which is all they care about). If the Jets traded away future prospects to try and win now, then in a few years they won't have those players to help them squeak into the playoffs. In other markets like Toronto or Edmonton, their arena will get filled no matter what, because of way more corporate support and crazy diehard fans. So those teams can tank to get good picks if they want, or trade away the future to try and win now, because they know the arena will sell out no matter what. If TNSE did that, the arena would be half empty. However, IF TNSE did that, in 5 years, the Jets could be a cup contender with some really elite talent. Now am I saying that TNSE is "totally against" the Jets winning a cup? No. If by some miracle the Jets won a cup without any elite superstar talent, I am sure TNSE would be thrilled, as winning a cup could mean more money for them. However, they are not willing to spend the money now, to try and win a cup in the future. So that's the scam, and that is what puppet Chevy is being paid to do. That is why he NEVER takes any big risks, and that's why he never tanks the team for good draft picks. And that is why even after 13 years of only getting past the second round once, he is still the GM. Now the only way this would change, is if fans protested, stopped going to games, and demanded a contender. However, that may not even work, because greedy TNSE would probably just sell the team for a profit (as it is worth more now), rather than spend any money to make them competitive.

Jets NEED to keep Dillon and Demelo. these two along with Sandberg and of course Morrissey ( until he decides to retire many years from now ) = 4 really good d men. Trade the rest if you can. Brossoit and Monehan should stay if possible, especially if there is cap room.

They can't keep both Dillon and Demelo. It's one or the other. Demelo is too undersized and Dillon is not great at moving the puck. The Jets defense was constantly caved in their series against Colorado, and the defense needs upgrades, and bringing back both Dillon and Demelo will mean more of the status quo.

If the jets only make 2/3 moves this offseason id be happy i agree i dont want Toffoli,Monahan,Dillon,Stanley,Pionk,Schmidt back. Trade Ehlers+Pionk to Isles for Nelson+Pulock+pick And do whatever retain get rid of stanley,schmidt even lower guys who might not make team zhilkin,ford,Gus,kupari as throw in. Get RHD Braeden Schneider hes only 22RFA currently playing 3rd pair Rangers from Prince Albert and played for Wheat Kings. If we had to give a Lucius/Heinola/Iafallo hes on last year of 4.1m contract and has played all over lineup. Connor Scheifele Villardi Perfetti Nelson Lambert Nino Lowry Appleton Barron Vlad Chibrikov Extra If we still have Kupari,Gus, Dont get guys like maenalainen,stenlund,kuhlman,AJF,Toninato take time from young guys even if say Lambert/Chibi/when Mcgroarty comes after NCAA season run them in a 3 way in and out of lineup but imo practacing/playing with top players will benifit them Salmonsson even as 7th dman instead of on moose. Thats also why put Staal,Bortuzzo,Edmundson because from Northern Ontario/MB and are big vets who could be put in if Heinola/Salmonsson have bad games. Morrissey Schneider Pulock Demelo Samberg Heinola Extra Hamonic/Salmonsson/either Edmundson,Staal,Bortuzzo. Hellebuyck+Driedger/Riemer if its Driedger let him and Milic see who gets backup. Also putting guys from prairies/western canada/Northern Ontario in case of Staal/Bortuzzo thunder bay imo they would be more willing stay live here full time/community/and wont want to lose/take pride playing where they grew up infront of fans Hamonic has been saying wanted play only western canadian teams since his dad died. And when done with hockey maybe join True North in conmunity part of Hockey ops. Hamonic,Pulock,Sanheim,Driedger,Riemer. Even as depth of Moose guys we been signing players like suess/reichel/Mallott who have barely a NHL resume i know we cant spend like the marlies on 1 way deals. But get guys like Eakin,Bowey,Keeper,Brooks,Froese on moose. McCrimmon/Trotz usually take WHL guys/Wheat Kings . Kolesar,Howden,Whitecloud,Froese,Stephenson,Glass,Mcnabb,Hill,Thompson,Brossoit,Theodore,Benson,Geertsen,Hickey,Mayo,Duke. As for a coach of Jets imo Arniel will be a players coach friends with them like Maurice i think we need a tougher coach Evason is from Elmwood,or ToddNelson.

You don't want Monahan back? The guy who saved our powerplay? The guy that wins face-offs in key moments? A guy that can play well with everyone in the lineup? You don't want him alright then. I would sign him to a like 4 year deal since he is aging and has an injury record but he saved us. I do agree we should use Chibrikov and Lambert since if we get rid of people that take up a lot of cap we will have a TON of space using more young guys. I'd say Barlow isn't ready but the year after that growing even more yeah he will be very good and slightly taller and weigh even more. But using Lambert and Chibrikov for sure because we have prospects that we clearly and desperately need in that lineup. We have the cap space to resign Monahan and Perfetti most likely and I'm jumping to do that. Perfetti won't get too much money either so why not bring in other young guys to play with him? Our cap situation would be golden with more prospects but make sure we use our BEST prospects since it is not a rebuild it is a retool. Keep us retooling since a full out rebuild and we would find ourselves 20th in the league or worse.

But those guys don't want to come here like a Horvat,Barzal,Reinhart,Kadri,Stamkos almost what we tried but failed with Dubois. I Agree with rest and Mcgroarty will join the team but 65% through season cause committed Michigan again.

They really need to get rid of poink and samburg and trade those guys out as soon as they can!! Poink cost the team a lot of their losses. Dillion should be re-signed, Demelo is a player similar to Poink and can't hold the when it really counts! So Demelo could definitely go. And I agree with @shanerationx with the Schmidt buyout but that's the only thing I do agree with. Stanley isn't a bad player thought he's not great but not bad, like that he actually takes shots on net all the time and doesn't hesitate like half the players. And he's a great team player and always sticks up for all his team mates

Fetts had good numbers but they were all from the first half of the year. He literally disappeared in the 2nd half and that's why he was moved around to try to spark something. He bet on himself and lost because he couldn't be consistent all year. 2-2.5mil on a 1-2 year bridge deal to see if he can pull it together.

If I were in charge, i'd buyout Schmidt to open a spot for Heinola. Move Stanley and try to re-sign Demelo for right side if he's under $4 mill. I'd try to move Ehlers for a top 4 RHD (Pulock?, Severson? Parayko?) and let Perfetti slide into top 6 role. If Monahan would sign a 2-3 year deal for between 4-5 per I'd bring back. Toffoli too expensive. See if anyone would take Iafallo's $4 mill cap hit and bring back Dillon as D has no size or physical capability without him. Need to add a little bite and sandpaper to bottom 6.

Unload Pionk, Stanley (ugly), and Schmidt to free up enough cap space to re-sign Brossoit. Whoever this team may acquire via the trade route, PLEASE be certain he is proven to be built for the playoffs because, for the past two seasons, this team has only been good for one playoff game.

@@FischerFan Exactly. With Buff on the blue line, teams knew it was going to be a tough night. You just don't get that sense with these current Jets. Yeah, the guys are likeable, but none of them are agitators. And it's quite evident how much they're missing those types of players when facing any adversity. Outside of rare of a few rare occasions, they fall behind 2-0, 3-0, 4-0 in games, it's a wrap. There's no belief they can come back.

Dubois just got 8.5, Monahan is getting 6 probably. Demelo makes the most sense in order to help keep Morrissey happy, 4.5-5 for 2-3 years. Dillon is gone, Stanley and heinola probably start the season on the team.

Personally, I'd only bring back/resign Cole Perfetti & let everyone else walk. I'd sign 2 or 3 cup winning vets like Patrick Kane & Jake Guentzal & an underrated player like Anthony Duclair. I'd trade Ehlers ( & Kyle Connor) for picks this year & in the future. I really want to see our team build a contender through the draft & our prospects rather than do splash signings. Let's trade Ehlers & Kyle for 2 1st this year (Beckett Sennecke & Konsta Helenius) & maybe trade one of our core players next season for 2 1st next year (preferably Michael Misa & Sascha Boumedienne).
